Bennett

Sometimes, being part of the Knights of Favonius was hard. Honestly, life in general was just hard. But what made it more difficult was also being a high up member in the adventures guild, and everybody asking you personally to complete their commissions. Every day was draining after all the work you were put through. And sometimes, when things would be too much to handle, you would retreat to your dorm and fall asleep at your desk.
However, people started throwing pebbles at your window to get you to come out. So after a while, you decided if you ever needed a nap or a break during the day, you would retreat to Wolvendom. Rich with green, silent, other than the sounds of rushing water, occasional wolf howling, and the gentle rustle the leaves made when the breeze swept under the leaves. It was such a relaxing atmosphere, and sometimes you could find a sunny patch shining through the leaves to relax in.
The smell of fresh tree sap and wolfhooks was something that you had grown to like, and never get sick of. When you laid your head in the grass, you felt as if you could feel the world better. And even though when you are in Wolvendom it feels like your being watched, nothing would scare you away from your safe haven.
Today was one of those days where you were just sick and tired of absolutely everything. Your patrols often led you near Springvale and coincidentally, near Wolvendom. You bumped into people sometimes which made your job less boring, but overall, patrol days were the worst.
The sky even seemed to reflect your mood today. Clouds gathered, making the sun shy away and the world darker. Rain was on the verge of falling, just like how you were on the verge of sprinting to your safe spot.
Hm...there's a huge log I could go to if it rains...
You sighed and practically dragged your legs against the dirt roads on this gloomy day.
"Ugh, would anybody care if I left patrol? Mondstadt has no threats whatsoever..."
You picked at your nails as you walked along the path to Wolvendom, and a little drop of rain landed on your nose. 1 little drop after the other, and soon it started pouring.
You ran as fast as you could through Wolvendom until you found that huge log to hide under. You could smell the dusty rain and the slightly humid air inside of the log.
You sat in the dry grass inside and leaned your head against the round wall inside.
You could hear the rain that fell on the log, and the thunder in the distance.
"If Jean finds out I slacked again..."
Amongst the sound of rain, you could hear footsteps approaching your log. Somebody appeared around the corner, and walked into the dim log.
"Ah just my luck. It seems like it's already occupied in here."
He started to leave the log, but you protested.
"There's more than enough room in here. And besides, if you go out there you'll catch a cold."
He stopped in his tracks, and turned around with a smile on his face.
     "Really?"
The look on his face was so adorable. You couldn't help but blush.
     "Of course."
He situated himself near you, sitting with his legs crossed, and leaning his head against the wall like you did.
There was something about him that made you feel more reserved than usual. Everytime you looked at his face, you wanted to smile with him. But you also wanted to hide your red face from him.
     "So uh, you're Y/n right?"
You looked over to him with wide eyes. You nodded you head and pulled your legs closer to you.
"Hahaha, I'm Bennett! Also uh, are you cold? I have a coat in my backpack..."
You nodded your head and spoke in a quieter voice than before.
"It's nice to meet you Bennett. How do you know who I am?"
His eyes widened and he talked loudly.
"Are you kidding? You're super famous in the Knights, and the adventures guild!"
Every word he spoke, was spoken with admiration, and he waved his arms with excitement.
you pulled your legs even closer.
"oh... well, I think I've heard about you too."
His excitement slowly faded and he started to slump against the wall.
"O-Oh." He paused for a moment.
"You must've heard all the things about me being a curse and all that cause of my bad luck..."
his words trailed off and he mirrored you unconsciously, pulling his legs closer to him and hugging them close. You had heard all of those things, but you didn't want to admit it.
"Well, not really. I've heard that your famous in the adventures guild. And maybe something about your adventure team being infamous, that's all."
He seemed to loosen up a little when you told him that.
"Well I'm glad that you haven't heard the worst of me. I'm pretty much walking bad luck. Kind of like a wheel on a carriage that just doesn't work right."
You started to get a little bit angry.
"That doesn't sound like something you can make up about yourself. Who said that to you?"
He started to tear up, and you could tell, but he wiped his eyes and tried to hide it the best that he could.
"Pretty much everybody. Someone started it, and I've lost count of everyone I've heard saying it."
His voice broke a bit at the end, and it became obvious he was crying. You scooted over to him and placed a hand over his scarred shoulder.
"Heh, sorry about my droopy attitude. And especially on our first meeting. I'm really unlucky."
You sighed and laid your chin atop your knees.
"Bennett, I've only just met you but I can say for sure, that you are not a burden."
His tears seemed to flow out heavier, and you felt light suppressed sobs shake his whole body. You placed a gentle hand in his white hair and ruffled it gently.
"Don't worry Bennett, it's okay to cry."
You pulled his head into your chest and hugged him close, which you could tell he savoured greatly as he hugged you back with such passion.
