chp 4: "Twists and Turns: Priya and Kartik's Late-Night Odyssey"

Priya's anger was palpable as she sped down the road, her grip on the steering wheel tight and her foot pressing hard on the accelerator. Kartik, sitting beside her, kept his eyes on the road and his hand on the door handle, prepared for any sudden turns or abrupt stops. He didn't speak much, knowing that in moments like this, silence was the best companion.

Priya made a sharp turn, barely missing a parked car, and Kartik's heart skipped a beat. He didn't say anything, but he was grateful when they finally pulled up to his mansion. It was a large, sprawling property, with a high fence surrounding it for privacy. His parents were away for business, leaving the place empty except for a few housekeepers.

As Priya parked the car, Kartik got out and opened the door for her. She stormed into the house, heading straight for his room. It was spacious, with a large bed and a sitting area. Priya sat on the edge of the bed, her arms crossed tightly over her chest.

Kartik grabbed a bottle of water from the mini-fridge and handed it to her. "Pani pee," (Drink water.)he said, his voice calm and soothing. As she was about to take a sip, he couldn't resist teasing her. "Zeher lau?" ("Shall I bring poison?")

Priya glared at him, her eyes flashing with anger. "Chup kar ja **** " ("Shut up you **** ") she snapped, her voice laced with frustration. It was rare for her to use strong language, and Kartik knew it was a sign that things were serious. He didn't push further, sensing that she needed to vent.

Instead of comforting her, he decided to lighten the mood with humor. He mimicked her tone, his voice rising in mock anger. "Gussa mat dila, **** ("Don't anger me, ****") to rhi hu na!" ("I am crying, na")
Instead of saying she's crying her tongue twisted and she spoke somthing different

Kartik: "Abey to nhi ro hota hai totli, aur waise bhi....is background sound pe nachu?" ( "He corrected her and said Stutterer, "And anyway... should I dance to this background sound?") he replied, pretending to dance.

"Naach le, aur kuch kaam dhanda toh hai nahi besharam," ("Go ahead, dance, you shameless person, you don't have anything else to do anyway.") Priya shot back, her voice tinged with sarcasm.

"Besharam hogi tu," (" you are shameless") Kartik retorted, keeping the playful banter going. "Ghar pe jhoot bolke ladke ke ghar aati hai, sharam nahi aati tujhe??" ("You come to a boy's house after lying at home, don't you feel ashamed??")
Priya: par maine toh kuch bola he nhi ("but I didn't said anything")
Kartik: toh ab bol de (so say now)
Priya: chup (SHUT UP)

Kartik looked up at the ceiling and pretended to pray. "Hey Bhagwan, mai bohot sanskari ladka hu, meri izzat bacha lena aap. Pata nahi aaj kya hoga....arey kahi ye wild na ho jaye." ("Hey God, I'm a very cultured boy, please protect my honor. Who knows what might happen today... I hope she doesn't get wild.")

Priya's patience was wearing thin. "Kartik!! Ruk saale, abhi batati hu tujhe, bohot charbi chadh gayi hai tujhe na!" ("Kartik!! Stop, you *****, I'll tell you now, you've gained a lot of weight, haven't you?") With that, she stormed into his dressing room and began throwing his clothes around, making a mess.

"Abey kamini, mera room mujhe khud saaf karna padhta hai....kharab mat kar," ( "Hey, you ******, I have to clean my room myself....don't mess it up.") Kartik pleaded, but Priya ignored him, her anger driving her to create chaos.

"Abhi ek maarunga na yahaan zameen mein gad jayegi, saaf kar!" ("If I hit you once right now, you'll sink into the ground, clean up!") Kartik exclaimed, grabbing some clothes from the floor.

"No," Priya replied stubbornly, her voice sharp.

Kartik knew there was no stopping her now. He sighed and started picking up the clothes, but kept an eye on her, wondering what she was looking for.

"Abhi tu kya dhundh rahi hai? Meri chaddhi" ("What are you searching for now? My underwear?") he asked, his curiosity piqued.

"Chi re, tameez nhi hai tujhe?? Ladki se kaise baat karte hai?? Hann?? (""Shame on you, don't you have any manners?? How do you talk to a girl?? Huh??") She said making weird face

Kartik: tujhe badi tameez hai?? College mai kitne bhar bhar ke asleel baatein bolti thi mujhe aur kitna gaali deti thi, woh jaanede abhi kon gaali Diya mujhe?? ("You have a lot of manners, huh? How many vulgar things did you say to me in college and how much did you curse me? Leave that, who just cursed me now, huh?!") he said folding his hands

Priya: mujhe kya pata, tujhe diya na tujhe pata!! ("How would I know? You're the one who got it, so you should know!!") still searching for hoodie

Kartik: headache hai tu!! ("headache you are!!")
He rolled his eyes being frustrating

Priya rummaged through Kartik's wardrobe, determined to find his grey hoodie. Kartik, exasperated by her antics, warned her not to touch his clothes.

"Chamata marunga, mera ek bhi kapda haath lagayi toh," ( "I'll slap you, if you touch even one of my clothes,") Kartik threatened half-seriously.

Just then, Priya's phone rang, displaying her mom's name on the screen. She quickly answered and explained that she was searching for a hoodie and would be staying at Sara's house for the night. Her mom agreed, and Priya hung up, feeling a sense of relief. After all she did the same as expected by Kartik.

Finally, she found the hoodie she was looking for and held it up triumphantly. "Le lu?" (" Can I take it?") she asked Kartik, a mischievous glint in her eyes.

Kartik shook his head adamantly. "Nahi!" ("No")

Priya's expression fell, and she put on a sad pout. "Thik hai," ("okay")  she muttered, pretending to be disappointed.

Kartik couldn't resist teasing her. "Ro kyu rahi thi? Kya hua tha?" (" Why were you crying ? What happened?") he asked, pretending to be concerned.

Priya shot him a glare. "Pehli baat toh rone tune Diya nahi, aur dusri maine usko ek ladki se baat karte suna!" ("Firstly, you didn't even let me cry, and secondly, I heard him talking to a girl!") she retorted, feeling defensive.

"Chutiya hai tu," (" you are an idiot") Kartik chuckled, shaking his head. "Jaake clear kar jo bhi misunderstanding hai." ("Go and clear whatever misunderstanding has come up")

Priya sighed, realizing that Kartik was right. "Hmm, kal jaati hu," (" hmm I'll go tomorrow") she muttered, feeling a weight lift off her shoulders.

Kartik nudged her playfully. "Aaj ja aur abhi." (Go today and right now")

Priya hesitated for a moment before nodding. "Hn, itne raat ko mera baap drop karega na," ("yeah at this late night my dad will drop me right ") she said, feeling unsure.

Kartik smirked. "Right, chal drop karta hu tujhe." ("Right, let's go I'll drop")

Priya rolled her eyes. "Tu mera baap nahi hai," ("you aren't my dad") she teased.

Kartik grinned. "Bann bhi kon rha hai? Badi aayi, aur waise bhi, Teri jaisi aulad ho toh Maine toh gutter mai fak dena hai." ("Who do you think are becoming? Acting all high and mighty, and anyway, if my daughter turn out to be like you, I'll throw you in the gutter.")

"Tu apni beti ke saath Aisa kbhi nhi kar sakta" ("you can never do this to your daughter") she said know him very well.

They both laughed, the tension easing between them. Despite the earlier misunderstanding, they knew they could always count on each other for support and laughter.
