Chapter 17

I couldn't believe he was here. Standing in front of me. This man. My father. He's here alive and healthy. I didn't know what to feel. I didn't know what to say. So many emotions ran through me. Disbelief, confusion, shock...

You'd think after finding out the father I never knew was alive I'd feel some type of happiness and excitement. That I'd run into his arms with tears of joy running down my face. But I didn't move an inch. Instead I watched him cautiously. Staring at him blankly. Something about him wasn't right.

The man, my father, watched me with hard eyes. The corner of his lip twitching up into a small smirk as he stared at my confuse face.

"What's wrong Olivia?" He asked studying me with amuse eyes but I didn't miss the venom in his voice when he said Olivia. "Look like you'd seen a ghost." He was messing with me. Toying with me.

He intertwined his hands behind his back and took small and slow steps around me. His intense brown eyes stayed on me. Not once lingering away.

"You grew into a beautiful young woman." I stayed quiet. His eyes - if that's possible - grew even colder. "I gave you a compliment, the least you can do is say thank you." He spat.

I again stayed quiet. He stopped walking when he was a few feet away from me.

After a moment his scowl was replace with a smirk. "I know there are hundreds of questions running through your mind right now, and I know you want some answers." He paused. "Which I'm willing to give to you."

That caught my attention. I desperately wanted answers. I needed to know why he's here now after all these years, and more importantly what does he want with me. He must have saw the eagerness in my eyes because he chuckled.

"Connor," My head snapped towards mom. She was standing next to Amy, a look of confusion on both of their face. I looked down at my little brother that is still holding my hand watching the man in front of us.

I forgot they were in the room.

Mom took a step toward him keeping her head up. I knew she was trying to stay strong for me and Jason. But I also knew she was breaking inside.

"How are you here?" She asked. Her voice unwavering. Connor turned to her and grinned.

"It's good to see you too Faith," He looked her up and down.

"How are you here?" She spat. I was shocked. I never heard mom talk so coldly. She's usually a friendly person that barely ever got mad.

Connor smirked. "You haven't changed a bit, except for the hair. You always did want to be a blonde."

Mom's eyes narrowed into slits. "Answer my question." She said through gritted teeth.

Connor's gaze met mine. His eyes were again cold and dark. He glared into my eyes with so much hatred. But behind that hatred I saw... pain. I furrowed my brows.

He moved his gaze back to mom. "Patience my dear sister." My gaze switched to mom. Not once did she break eye contact with the man in front of us.

Finding my voice I took a deep breath before directing my question at Connor. "Why are you here?"

Connor's eyes snapped to me. The smirk on his face returning. "That's the question you should be asking."

He slowly began walking to the other side of the room, plopping down in a chair. He folded his arms over his chest and stared directly at me.

"Why am I here..." He repeated his eyes not lingering away from me. "Lets save that for last. But I will answer how am I here."

Mom's gaze didn't move from him as he opened his mouth to explain.

"After the car accident I woke up in a bed with machines attached to my body. I was so confused. So afraid. I couldn't move. No doctors came to check on me. I don't know how I got there. I don't know how long I was there when he finally entered..."

Connor's POV

My eyes snapped to the door when it was suddenly pushed open making a squeaking sound. A man walked in. His eyes immediately found mine. A small smirk playing on his lips as he walked fully into the room making himself comfortable in the chair next to me. I tried to get up but stopped when pain shot through my body. I groaned.

"Be still. You wouldn't want to get hurt more then you already are now would you?" The smirk on his face didn't falter.

"W-Who are you?" My voice was hoarse and rough.

He tilted his head to the side and leaned forward placing his elbows on his knees with his hands intertwined.

"I'm the man who saved your life." His hard brown eyes gazed into mine. I looked away. His intense dark orbs making me nervous. That's when I remembered the question I've been dying to know.

"W-Where's my wife? Where's Olivia?" I panicked.

"Your wife is dead." My heart shattered. My wife was dead. The women I love is dead.

I tried to get up not caring about the pain in my body. The machine next to me started to beat furiously as I took in large gulps of air. I heard the man get up out his seat before pressing a hand on my chest pushing me to lay down effortlessly.

"Calm down." The man spoke lowly and calmly. But you could hear the hidden threat. My body calmed instantly and the heart monitor steadied. The man removed his hand and stood over me. "Now back to business." I furrowed my brows in confusion.

"Olivia is very much alive." I didn't care. My wife was dead. I felt numb. I was a hollow shell. The man smirked seeing this. "Everyone thinks your dead and I want to keep it that way."

"Why?" I whispered in defeat.

"Because you can be great use to me." I looked up at the man as he stared down at me blankly. "I'm willing to keep your identity hidden for when I need you."

"What if I refuse?" The man eyes flashed with excitement. He slowly leaned down so that we were eye to eye and placed his hand on top of the womb on my abdomen. I cried out in pain when he pushed down. The pain was unbearable. The man pushed down harder as I tried to remove his hand. His eyes never leaving mine. The man pushed down one more time before pulling away with a satisfied smirk.

"Then you wouldn't be no use to me." He said darkly. "Everyone think you died in that car accident." The car accident. If I wasn't rushing she'd still be here.

"It's all my fault." I whispered to myself choking on a sob. The man stared at me for what feels like forever.

"Is it?" I stared at him confused. "Or is it her fault. If it wasn't for her you wouldn't be in that situation." I knew he was talking about Olivia. I thought hard. It wasn't Olivia's fault. It was mine. Or was it?

The man turned on his heel and walked to the door but before he was fully out of the room he paused and looked over his shoulder.

"Don't do anything stupid." And with that he shut the door leaving me to drown in my thoughts.

Present Time

Natalia's POV

"I've spent years hiding. Keeping my identity secret to the world. He contact me here and there throughout the years but a couple weeks ago he offered me a proposition which I gladly accepted. He got me a team and weapons and gave me specific instructions. I realized he was right." Connor's glared at me. "It was your fault."

Mom gasped. "Connor how can you say that?! You know as well as I do that it wasn't her fault!" I was so confused. How was it my fault? What did I have to do with the car accident?

Connor scoffed. "Stop protecting her Faith! You gave up so much just to hide her! She brought nothing but trouble. She's the reason I lost my wife."

They were talking about me as if I wasn't in the room. As if I wasn't standing in front of them. Anger shot through me. I wanted to stand up for myself. To say how I felt. But I couldn't find it in me to allow myself to speak. I didn't understand what was going on. What they were talking about.

"How dear you say it was her fault! She also lost her mother-"

"Don't call my wife her mother when we both know that she isn't. She was never my daughter. We found her. I accepted her into my home. She was never ours." He spat. My breath hitched. He's not my father.

I turned towards mom to see her staring at the ground with a guilty expression on her face. Betrayal ran through me. I wanted to convince myself that he was lying but by the expression on mom's face I knew he was telling the truth. There was only one question running through my mind. If they aren't my parents then who are?

Connor suddenly laughed snapping me out of my trance. "Did you actually think you was apart of this family? That I was your father?" I gave him an icy glare.

"I wouldn't want you, someone who killed his own wife because he wasn't paying attention, as a father." I spat.

Connor's eyes filled with rage as he stalked towards me and grabbed a fist full of my hair pulling me away from Jason. I hissed in pain. Before I could process what was happening something cold pressed against my jaw making mom, Amy, and Jason start yelling while fresh tears rolled down their faces.

"Connor!" The bald guy yelled. I forgot he was still in the room. "Roberto haven't gave us the signal yet." Roberto? Who the hell is Roberto?

I heard someone behind me inhale sharply. Curious to who, I tried to turn around but Connor grip on my hair prevented me.

Connor jaw clenched before he hesitantly let go my hair and removed the gun from my jaw. He slowly backed away. His brown eyes not leaving me.

"You asked me why I'm here." I only stared at him. "He gave me the proposition of killing you." My eyes widened. "He chose me to kill you because he knew how much I despised you." Was he talking about Roberto? I opened my mouth to question him but was cut off when Brad entered the room.

"We have company." Brad said staring at Connor. Connor mumbled something under his breath before turning towards Brad.

"Take them back to their... rooms." He smirked. Baldy grabbed mom and Amy ignoring their protests.

Before I could do anything Brad grabbed me and threw me over his shoulder. I kicked and punched the entire time but he didn't seem to care.

I wanted to cry when he walked into the hell hole I spent so much time in. He put down and before I could think about the consequences I quickly brung my knee up hitting my target. He groaned and fell to his knees. I took this chance to run around him but as soon as I put pressure on my injured foot I fell to the ground. Tears rolled down my cheeks.

Brad stood over me. Glaring at me. I screamed when he yanked me up by my hair so that we were face to face. Without thinking I spat on him again. I could tell he was furious. His hand collided with my face making me cry out in pain and fall onto the mattress. He was on me within seconds. I punched and struggled to get him off me but my attempts turned futile when he took my hands and pinned them above my head.

"It's time to take you up on that offer." I froze and my eyes widened. He snuggled his head in the crook of my neck snapping me out of my trance. I screamed and struggled under him. Slapping a hand over my mouth he muffled my screams. His hands moved towards his pants as he struggled to undo his belt and zipper. I screamed and let the tears fall from my eyes knowing his intentions.

Suddenly his weight was off me. I quickly scurried up and stared at the scene before me with wide eyes. Brad was on the floor. His neck sliced open as he made gurgling sounds clutching his bloody neck. My gaze shifted to the figure before me.

His black hood prevented me from seeing anything except for his mouth. A ghost of a smile playing on lips. I knew he was the same man from before. He tossed something onto my lap, snapping me out of my thought, before turning around and heading out the room. I looked down onto my lap to see a key.

I took one last glance at Brad's now dead body before carefully running out the room. I ran and ran not caring where I was going. I only wanted to find mom, Amy, and Jordan. As I turned the corner I bumped into a very hard chest. Arms wrapped around my waist and I immediately started attacking.

"Natalia calm down." I froze and looked up at the familiar face.

"Alex," I gasped and wrapped my arms around him. He hugged me back as I cried into his chest. Once my crying eased he pulled away and looked into my eyes.

"We have to go. Now." He stated and dragged me through the halls. I tried to ask him how did he know I was here but he simply ignored me. Looking around I tried to figure out where we were going but nothing looked familiar.
We stopped when Luke came walking our way.

"You're still here." He said through gritted teeth. He glared at Alex.

"We're leaving now." Remembering the reason why I was running through the halls in the first place I began to struggle to get out of Alex grip. Alex frowned before tightening his hold on me. "What's wrong with you Natalia?"

"Amy, mom, and Logan. They're still here." Alex looked at Luke. Luke sighed dramatically and mumbled "I'll do it." Looking down at the key in my hand, I quickly stopped him.

"Wait! I think this might be the key."

I tossed him the key which he caught without even looking. Alex looked at me in confusion before dragging me through the halls.

I jumped as the sound of gun shots filled my ears. Alex cursed under his breath and started to walk faster. Hearing shuffling in the hall ahead of us, Alex pushed me in a corner and told me to stay there. He pulled out his gun from his waistband making my eyes widen. He looked at me one last time before leaving me there and heading down the hall. I heard yelling and gun shots again.

The sounds became distant before there was no sound at all. I peeked my head out, curious to what happened. When I saw and heard no one I stepped out of my hiding spot and began to walk down the hall.

I heard movement behind me before a hand clamped over my mouth and an arm wrapped around my waist. I looked up to see baldy smiling down at me with crooked teeth. He pulled me through the halls all while I struggled for him to release me. He entered a room and I immediately stop struggling as I took in the sight in front of me.

Angelo stood there in all his glory staring at Connor intensely. There were more men in the room but I didn't care about them. My eyes were fixed on Angelo.

An icy glare made its way onto his face as his eyes found mine. Not being able to take his glare, I looked at Nicole and Logan who are also glaring at me. I knew they were angry at my being here.

Baldy pushed me further into the room catching me off guard. I stumble forward not being able to gain my balance but before I could hit the ground someone grabbed my arm in a firm grip.

My breath hitched when my eyes connected with stormy grey ones. Angelo quickly hauled me up and pushed me a bit behind. I furrowed my brows confused by his action. My confusion was cut short when I saw Connor's men with their guns now pointed at us.

"I'm going to give you another chance to reconsider. You can leave right now. Unharmed." Connor said. "All you have to do is leave her." Connor's cold eyes met mine.

Angelo tilted his head to the side as he stared at Connor. His face void of emotion. Connor sighed and threw his head back. Shaking his head as he stared at the ceiling. He looked at his men before turning towards us again.

He stared directly at me. "Go ahead and kill them." Angelo smirked a hint of excitement passing through his eyes.

Everything happened so fast. Angelo abruptly pushed me into Nicole's arms before grabbing 2 guns from his waistband hidden away under his suit jacket. I gasped as he fired the guns killing 8 of Connor's men so fast that I don't even think they realize what he was doing. Nicole pushed me behind one of the wide metal pillars. I looked to where Angelo and Logan once stood but to my surprise they wasn't nowhere insight. I guess they 'took cover'.

Nicole grabbed the gun from his waist band then grabbed another gun that was strapped to his lower leg hidden away by his pants. He quickly flipped the safety off. My eyes widened in horror when Nicole tried to hand me the gun.

"What the hell are you doing?!" I whispered yelled. I don't know why I was whispering when the room was nowhere near quiet. Gun shots filled my eardrums. I think I was still in shocked.

"Take it," I furiously shook my head. Nicole let out a annoyed sound and shoved the gun into my hand. "Take. It. We don't have time for this."

I held the gun with shaky hands which seems to be enough for Nicole because he turned away from me and started firing at Connor's men using the pillar as a shield. I took a deep breath before slowly scooting to the other side of the pillar while holding the gun to my chest.

I jumped and let out a small scream as bullets hit the ground next to me. I exhaled sharply trying to calm myself down before standing up with my back against the wall. I took one last deep breath before I moved a little from behind the wall and quickly pointed the gun at one of Connor's men. With shaky hands I pulled the trigger.

I was either not prepared or not standing correctly because the force of the gun knocked me down onto my butt with an 'oomph'. I slowly looked at Nicole. A scowl on his handsome face. He grabbed me by my forearm pulling me to my feet.

"This is how you hold it." Nicole put the gun in my hand and fixed my grip on it making sure my fingers were in the right places.

He took my other hand and placed it on top of the gun also making sure to have the same grip. I gasped almost losing my balance when he kicked my feet apart little.

"Bend your knees." I quickly did as I was told. "And hold the gun to eye level."

I moved the gun to eye level like he said with my arms extended. Nicole looked satisfied and searched around the pillar for something. There wasn't as many guys alive making me sigh in relief but we were still out numbered.

"Kill him," Nicole pointed to a guy that was behind some wooden boxes. He wasn't even paying attention to us. I looked at Nicole with wide eyes. Is he really trying to give me a lesson now. During this.

"You wanna do this now." I voiced my thought. Nicole watched me blankly before lightly shrugging his shoulders. I sigh and move in to position like Nicole taught me. I held the gun at eye level as I watch the man come from behind the box to shoot then uses it as a shield then coming from behind it again to shoot. I exhaled sharply and moved my finger to the trigger.

Bang!

I slowly opened my eyes not realizing I shut them. I looked at the man that I was suppose to shoot and my eyes widened. The man was now on the ground crying in pain as he clutched his bleeding shoulder.

I did it.

I turned to Nicole. The corner of his mouth twitches up and I squealed in excitement. "I did it! Did you see me?"

I actually did it. The feeling was so powerful. It was such a rush. The adrenaline that flowed through me making me feel invincible.

Realization hit me hard. I just shot someone. I just shot a human being. My eyes widened in horror and disbelief. Nicole must've saw my expression because he grabbed my chin forcing me to look into his forest green eyes.

"It's okay Natalia. You only shot him. You didn't kill him. See..." I looked at the man. He wrapped something around his shoulder before getting up and grabbing his gun getting back into his shooting position.

"He did things you couldn't even imagine. Don't eat yourself up." He spoke so soft and gentle. I wiped my teary eyes and nodded.

Nicole watched me with concerned eyes before turning back to the event taking place. Nicole's words didn't make the guilt go away but it did make it cease. I'm relieved I didn't kill him. I kept repeating Nicole's words in my head as I made my way to my side of the corner. Before I could realize some grabbed me by my arm knocking the gun out of my hand in the process.

I looked up to see Connor glaring down at me. He turned me around, so that my back was facing, and grabbed a fist full of my hair. This time I knew what the cold metal pressed against my jaw was.

"If you don't want to see her brain splattered all over this ground I suggest all of you come out!" The gun shots came to an end but no one moved.

I heard a clicking sound and I knew Connor switched the safety off. I let out a small whimper. Very slowly Nicole came from behind the pillar and Logan and Angelo came from behind their cover place as well. My eyes found Angelo's as he stared at me with those expressionless grey orbs. I broke our gaze and looked around. There was only 6 of Connor's men left including baldy. Baldy moved towards Connor. He looked hesitantly but didn't stop.

"He still haven't gave us the signal-" Baldy started but was cut off by Connor.

"Fuck the signal!" He yelled. My vision became blurry with tears but I wouldn't let them fall. "This bitch is going to die anyway!"

Angelo chuckled drawling everyone's attention to him. "What the hell is so funny! I'll kill her! I'll kill her right now!" Connor yelled and pressed the gun harder to my jaw.

Angelo smirked. "No, you won't," he said simply. Why the hell was he gambling with my life?

"And why not?"

"Because you think she's the only way you're going to make it out of here alive." Angelo said staring at Connor intensely. I could've sworn I heard Connor gulp. "How about you give her to me and we'll let you leave right now. Unharmed." He said mocking Connor words.

Connor grip loosened but it was still firm. "No! She got to get what she deserves. She killed my fucking wife."
His grip tightened painfully on my hair.

Angelo smirked. "Did she now?" Connor opened his mouth but Angelo wasn't done. "You killed your wife. You're the reason your wife is dead." Angelo spoke every word slowly.

"NO!"

"Yes," Angelo grinned. "Stop being a fucking coward and take some responsibility. It's your own fault." Angelo shrugged nonchalantly. He was taunting him.

Connor was literally shaking in anger.

He abruptly let go of my hair and pointed the gun at Angelo. As soon a the gun was off my jaw, Angelo raised his gun shooting Connor right between the eye. I stood frozen as Logan and Nicole also raised there gun shooting the rest of Connor's men.

I stared at Connor's lifeless body trying to feel some type of sadness. But I couldn't. This man isn't the same man Olivia knew. I could never call him my father.

I was snapped out of my trance when Angelo grasp my wrist and pulled me out of the room. I looked back at Logan and Nicole who was also following us.

When we finally made it outside I couldn't help the tears that made their way to my eyes. I looked up at the big full moon lightening up the night sky with stars twinkling around it. There was a slight breeze leaving goosebumps on my arms. Angelo continued to pull me further away from the building with Nicole and Logan following behind.

A black car came into view. Luke was leaning on the car looking bored while tapping away on his phone. As we came into view Luke looked up from his phone and grinned when his eyes met mine but I didn't miss the look of relief that flashed through them. Angelo finally let go of me. That's when I remembered something.

"Where's Jordan, mom, and Amy?" I asked in panic.

"Alex took them back to the mansion." Luke said and I let out a sigh of relief. Then I remembered something else.

"How did you know where I was?" I asked. They all turned to face me.

"It wasn't hard." Luke shrugged. "He was a regular guy with no experience or anything."

"Then why did it take you so long to find me?" I asked annoyed.

"You was only in there for 5 days Natalia." Only? He made it sound like it was okay. That what I went through wasn't that bad.

"But if Connor was no one important shouldn't you have found out where I was on the first day?"

"We found out 3 days ago." Angelo said. I narrowed my eyes at him.

"Then why didn't you come then?" I asked through gritted teeth. I know I was sounding ungrateful but because of this I was scarred for life. Traumatized. The things I went through in that hell hole.

Angelo shrugged. "We were busy," I glared at him. They were busy? That's why they took their time. I went through hell because they were busy.

Without thinking I raised my hand to slap him but Angelo was already ahead of me. He quickly caught my wrist in a painful grip. I looked into those steel orbs with a hard glare which he returned.

"Did you learn nothing before?" Angelo's grip tightened making me wince slightly. "You was so eager to get you family back. I had to make sure it stayed that way. We took so long because I wanted to be sure we don't have the same issue again."

I broke our gaze in defeat. I glanced up at Angelo so he couldn't see the guilt that was making its way to my face but instead of looking at me he was looking at my feet. Well more like foot.

"What happened?" I knew he was talking about my foot. I answered hesitantly.

"I cut my foot while running and..." The guy popped up in my head. I wasn't sure if I should tell Angelo or not. I mean he's no one important. I decided to since I didn't know nothing that was going on. "...this guy bandaged it up, he... he gave me food and water, and had really good reflexes." I said remembering how he caught my foot in mid air. He didn't even look like he was affected at all.

"He had a hood on so I couldn't make out his face." I added. Angelo look to be deep in thought. There was a tense silence before Luke broke it.

"Looks like Natalia has a secret admirer." He teased. I glared at him.

Before I could say anything inappropriate, Angelo pulled me to the car and got into the front seat. I went to follow but Logan beats me to the passenger seat. I glared at the side of Logan's head. The side of his mouth twitched up for a second when he saw my glare. I hate riding in the back.

I stomped into the car with Luke, and Nicole following behind me. I sat in between Nicole and Luke squished yet comfortable. Angelo pulled off and I stared out the window hoping sleep would come.

BOOM!

I jumped letting out a scream while holding onto my heart that's now beating furiously. No one else seemed bothered by the loud noice. They didn't even acknowledge it. I looked back to where the loud sound came from.

The once warehouse is now in flames and in pieces. I looked at Luke with wide eye. Luke smirked at me with his phone in his hand. I realized he triggered the explosion using his phone. He didn't even try to warn me. I glared at him for the entire ride. Sleep now futile.
