June 1986

"Dad I'm going to my friends." He didn't reply so I just walked out. I remember driving to dave's house. The party was fantastic, we had drinks and the music was great. And like any other party, there were drugs. I remember trying some. Not a lot, half an ounce.

Driving home was hard. I could barely stay within two lanes. An officer overtook and arrested me. I remember dad running into the police station with bail papers in his hands. I had never seen him so worried. I was bailed out, he drove the car, he didn't ask what happened, how it happened. He took me home and said "it's ok, shit like this happens. Just make sure it doesn't happen ever again."

"Thanks, dad."

"Anytime son, anytime."
