Chapter 5

~THIRD PERSON POV~

Lisa had just gotten back from the market when she arrived at home to see her daughter sitting in the corner crying. Alarmed the mother ran to her golden haired child to find out what's wrong.

"Rae what's wrong?" she asked softly as she approached her crying daughter.

"The people won't leave me alone," she said through tears.

"It'll be okay darling," said Lisa not thinking much of it.

"No it won't momma Esther said I shouldn't show my hair to people or they'll hurt us," replied Raelynn.

"But Esther isn't here or your mother," said Lisa only to regret what she said because Raelynn pushed her and ran away.

Lisa didn't actually mean what she said as she and her husband were grateful for what Esther did for them but she felt that when it comes to her daughter it is second best to whatever Esther says.  I mean she get it because they didn't heed Esther's warning and brought the child out revealing the true length and power of her hair, she has become a spectacle for the towns people and the greedy vultures who cut her baby's hair.  Deep down Lisa just felt like she was being compared to Esther and she didn't like that.

Raelynn went into her room and took Majestic out of her cage and began talking to her hoping her momma Esther would hear. Even though she knew she wouldn't hear a response back that didn't stop her from communicating with the rabbit.

"I know mommy wants the best for me but momma Esther's warning proved to be right and I don't want mommy to think I don't love her when all I want is for us not to get hurt," narrated the five years old to the rabbit that took in everything she was saying.

She continued to vent everything to the rabbit until it was dinner time and her father had called her down. The family of three sat down at the dinner table eating their meal when Greg noticed that his wife kept looking at their daughter who consequently continued to evade her stare.

"What happened between you two?" Greg asked.

"It's mommy's fault," whispered Raelynn.

"What's that darling?" Greg asked not hearing his daughter.

"It was mommy's fault," she said louder.

"How is it my fault?" Lisa asked.

"Yes what did mommy do for it to be her fault?" Greg asked.

Raelynn placed her fork down and looked at her parents and said, "I can't walk into town without people looking at me like I'm a circus clown or something. The kids always try to touch my hair or pull it and their parents always try to do the same and some try to cut it or get me to make it glow and I don't like that so I told mom but she ignored it."

"I didn't ignore it, I just said it was okay," replied Lisa.

"But momma Esther said-"

"Why must you try to override what I'm saying with whatever Esther says," shouted Lisa scaring her daughter as Raelynn jumped in fright.

Once again Lisa was glad that Esther helped her through the birth of her child and everything else she's done for them but to her it seems her daughter sees Esther more as a mother than her. In fact since Raelynn turned two Esther found out that the golden haired child was not only smarter than she looked but she could also perform magic and it wasn't a shock that she asked Esther to teach her.

Lisa at first was scared thinking her daughter won't have a normal childhood but seeing the smile on her face put her at ease. Then the magic lessons turned into Esther teaching her to read, to paint and more and more it felt like Raelynn was actually Esther's child. Actually it was Raelynn who became interested in these things and saw that since her parents were busy she'd just ask Esther.

Esther never found it strange as she would spend some days away from the child so the family could bond during this time and so she didn't want to intrude. Reality really hit Lisa when she suddenly heard Raelynn call Esther momma. Due to this she asked Esther to lessen the time she spent with the child which Esther did much to Raelynn's disappointment.

Deep down Lisa felt jealous that Esther had more in common with her daughter than she did so she was secretly glad that Esther left but Raelynn continued to read and secretly practice her magic after Lisa forbade it.

Hearing her mother shout at her Raelynn got up and went to room. She thought it was best for her mother to cool down and they revisit this topic another time.

Meanwhile Greg spoke to his wife about her behavior and thought of how Raelynn felt along with consoling his wife about how she feels and so Lisa decided to put away her insecurities and go apologize to her daughter.

Upon seeing her mom enter the room Raelynn said, "I'm sorry for getting you mad mommy."

"It's not your fault baby it's mine. I should of listened to you and kept you safe," replied Lisa as she kissed her daughter on the forehead. The mother-daughter duo made up as Lisa kissed Raelynn on her forehead once again and tucked her into bed before saying good night.

While in the house was peaceful, outside stood a coven of witches as they began to chant. Greg woke up and heard the commotion outside and woke up Lisa and told her to get Raelynn.

Listening to her husband, Lisa ran and woke up Raelynn and told her to come as she grabbed her rabbit only to hear footsteps. The now alarmed mother grabbed her daughter and placed her inside the open compartment of her chair.

"No matter what don't come out unless it's me or your dad and baby try and contact Esther for help," instructed Lisa as she closed the compartment and left a now trembling and crying Raelynn who quietly tried to contact Esther.

The original witch who was actually on her way back heard the cry of the golden haired child and raced back to the house where she saw witches chanting and the little house on fire. She walked inside and recalled that Raelynn was inside her room so she crept inside called the child.

"Raelynn hunny where are you?"

"In here momma Esther," Raelynn replied as Esther walked up to the chair compartment and open it to see the frightened infant whimpering and crying while hugging her rabbit which tried to console her.

"Rae you can open your eyes," said Esther as the infant opened her eyes and saw her. Raelynn then flung herself into the arms of the woman and cried as it's been a long time since she's heard from either of her parents.

" Rae lend me your power so I can take care of the witches," said Esther to which Raelynn agreed. The two began to sing the enchantment as Raelynn's hair glowed.

Flower gleam and glow
Let your power shine
Make the clock reverse

Bring back what once was mine

Heal what has been lost
Change the fate's design
Save what has been lost

Bring back what once was mine
What once was mine

Esther's spirit body turned solid as she told Raelynn to hide back in the compartment then went to deal with the people who harmed her family.

She walked down the stairs to see Lisa's dead body lying on the floor and Greg's pinned to the wall. Overcome with grief as she began to cry Esther started to rip the witches' hearts out of their chests and snapping their necks before killing them all.

She walked back to the room and grabbed Raelynn and walking through the back door before setting the house more on fire and leaving with the child as they mourned the death of Greg and Lisa. With a new resolve Esther decided to raise Raelynn and avenge Greg and Lisa's death by killing Dahlia who caused their death.
