Chapter 三

THE Hellraiser Clock, a demon-kind alarm clock that shrieks out rather loud when activated at the set time, woke the bluenette up from her slumber. Sullivan gave her one as a gift.

Looking out her window as she starts to take in the scenic beauty: the rising sun brings the day come alive; the flying creatures take flight around spontaneously; and the pressure gradient force causes the tree grove to sway. She then look back fondly about last night's unexpected occurrence, oblivious to the faint smile on her lips.

Now that she's here in her so-called home, she must say that she's  having trouble familiarizing herself with the layout of this mansion.

Well, she just arrived here last night.

After Ririsu have finished preparing herself, she goes to her books, which Sullivan spoils, pampers, and showers her with gifts the moment she walk into her own bedroom. Installing them at my personal desk and then reading them.

After an hour of reading, the bluenette heard a knock at her door, her eyes still glued to the book.

She assumed it was just Sullivan. So she called out. "You are welcome to come in."

He stepped in after opening the door to my room. "Ririsu-chan, good de~morning!"

"Morning, Sulli-"

Ririsu came to a halt after finally turning around to greet Sullivan mainly. The girl was surprised to see him smilingly accompanied by someone she didn't recognize.

Ririsu quietly examined the person's features, who appeared to be around her age.

In addition to their second, pointed ears, they have a pair of black, cat-like ears protruding from their hair. They have pale skin, red eyes, and small thick black brows. They also have a cat-like black tail. This person's appearance is pretty androgynous, with delicate features, a slight stature, and a plait, but they have an epicene dress sense that makes them stunningly bewitching.

"A sibling? Is that a school uniform they're wearing perhaps?"

They dressed so nicely that it appeared as if they had made no effort.

"How have you been?" Sullivan inquired, jolting Ririsu back into reality.

"I'm not yet quite familiar with this place but I'll manage."

Sullivan hums. "Ririsu-chan! There is someone I'd like to introduce you to."

"This is Opera, the security devil in this household; I hope you two get along."

Opera, the demon, bowed at her and said. "Good day, Ririsu-sama."

"Good day to you, too," Ririsu replied, bowing. "Please refrain from calling me with the formalities," she said, trying not to sound condescending.

The demon looks at her with confusion in their eyes, maintaining a neutral expression after what the bluenette demon had just said.

"Breakfast is ready, Ririsu-chan!" Sullivan said.

"More importantly, my devi-pie, You should call me Father/Dad! I'm now officially your father, remember?"

"...All right, Otou-sama," Ririsu replied.

He knelt on the ground and raised his head right away. She can even hear him squealing from the inside out.

Her father's eyes welled up, and the other demon reached into their pocket for a handkerchief to wipe Sullivan's tears away.

Ririsu looks around blankly, ruminating on her life choices.

"Is this how they normally do?"

Sullivan stood up and called as soon as he finished his - appeared to be - enchantment.

"Let's not waste any more time!"

Ririsu sat in a chair, admiring an appetizing spread of foods on the surface of a dining table. Her face remains indefinable, but her eyes speak volumes.

"Ririsu-chan, eat as many as you want."

The bluenette simply nodded and shoved the food into her mouth. Glistening with bliss. She was savoring the ecstasy by peacefully savoring all foods in front of her, which increased her appetite significantly.

Ririsu was brought back to reality from her utopia when she realized she had consumed so much food that there was nothing left on the table.

The girl was skeptically staring at her hands, questioning herself. Sure, she didn't get to eat as much as she wanted because other orphans would eat the foods that the caregivers provided at the orphanage as well, but she didn't see this coming from her.

"It appears you have quite an appetite." Sullivan smiled, closing his eyes.

To avoid looking at his smug expression, Ririsu avoids eye contact with him. She doesn't blame him because, as she previously stated, she didn't eat much before he adopted me from a foster home.

"How was the food, Risu-chan?"

"Delicious."

"I see!" Sullivan exclaimed, beaming.

"I made them with the help of Oper-"

"I did the majority of the work because Sullivan-sama isn't much of a chef."

Opera asserted as they approached her side and placed a drink in front of her. "Your hell grey tea."

"Thank you."

"Wait a minute- I did the chopping!" Sullivan protested.

"Well, that doesn't change the fact that the majority of the work was done by me." Opera responded, sparking an argument between the two.

Ririsu quietly sipped my tea while watching them argue over something so trivial.

"... This is normal," she rationalized.

Ririsu examines herself in the reflective surface before taking another sip of her tea.

"Moving on to another topic, Ririsu-chan; there is something else I want to tell you before I leave."

"What is it?"

"In 6 weeks, you'll be attending Babyls Demon School alongside Opera."

"Alrig- Wait... Nani?"

"Don't worry! I've already set up all of your school supplies, including Opera's." He snapped his fingers as the objects appeared in front of her.

"Moreover, you won't be alone at school because Opera, your upperclassman, is with you, and you also have to learn how to buddy up yourself with demon beings there, aside from Opera and I."

Ririsj hesitated, but the way he looks at her in enthusiasm makes it even harder for her to deny. "Yes, Otou-sama."

He provides her with shelter, parental love, and many other benefits, which empowers the bluenette to do anything for him in return.

"Yehey! That's settled. Opera, please enlighten her all the accommodation in this residence so she knows where she wants to go."

"As you wish, Sullivan-sama." Opera agreed, bowing to my father.

"All right, then, I have a meeting to attend to; have a wonderful day, you two!" He vanished with a single snap of his fingers.

"So, he has the ability to teleport." she inwardly said.

"Let me first take care of these dishes, Ririsu-sama." Opera said as they began rearranging the dishes.

Ririsu then rearranges the rest, leaving Opera mystified by her actions.

"Ririsu-sama, let me handle this on my own," they said as they approached her while she was still rearranging them.

"No. If I want to help, please let me be."

They paused halfway from her, shockingly surprised at the words she delivered.

"I'm all set. Let's go," she said, carefully holding them to prevent them from falling.

"... Follow me then."

Opera couldn't help but ponder Ririsu as they move in the direction of the kitchen.

"Odd yet intriguing..."

They placed the dishes on the counter beside the sink once we arrived at their destination. Opera started washing the dishes. And, of course, Ririsu assists them by drying the dishes before steadily organizing them. The security demon never failed to notice that their master's adopted daughter was still willing to assist them.

"Ririsu-sama, you shouldn't ha-"

"I'd like to assist you in this."

Opera wanted to protest, however they thought it might considered as being impertinent. Moreover, even if they did so, Ririsu still insisted on helping the security devil. Therefore, Opera had no choice but to let her do so.

"She's pretty stubborn. In a good way."

When we finished clearing the dishes, Opera claps their hands and says.

"All right, let's get this tour started."

"Okay."

They went through many rooms in the mansion, including the living room, laundry room, and guestrooms. The backyard is the final location they have yet to visit.

Ririsu couldn't help but be captivated by the euphoric scenery that greeted her the moment they both stepped into the backyard. Witnessing the evening's beauty and awe; the sky is splashed with vibrant colors, the cloudscape creates such stunning reds, and the vista of sky is aglow with the setting sun.

She turned away from the view when Opera motioned for her to sit in a chair, which she did  so before they sat in theirs. They then returned to watch the sunset.

"I've been told everything about you by Sullivan-sama." Opera said suddenly.

"Is that so?" she rhetorically asked.

"Yes."

"What particularly did he tell you?"

"You being different."

It took Ririsu a moment to fathom that in her head.

"That's how I felt about Sullivan when he first came to see me at the orphanage."

"... I see."

Opera's gaze shifted away from the sunset, then back to Ririsu, who took a moment to fix their gaze on her; her short smooth-silky hair moved with the breeze, her eyes are bright as beryl stones that in the tankard wink, her ivory skin shines bright by the light of the sun, and the vibrant colors of the sunset compliment the colors of both her Cobalt blue hair and sapphire eyes as they contrast each other.

This only adds to her allure. Even without the surroundings that make her shine, she is beautiful in every way.

"Opera-senpai..." she blurted out.

"Yes?"

"Please treat me as your equal."

"Excuse me, what do you mean by that?" Opera asked, confused.

"I don't want to be treated the same way other demons treat whomever they want to subordinate to, as if they act on their positions, not out of their own volition."

"I find it gibberish, despite knowing how important they are in this world." Ririsu said as she returned her gaze to Opera.

"Furthermore, since Otou-sama clarified earlier, you're my upperclassman, so treat me the way you truly want, and please stop with the formalities when it comes to me."

Opera was stunned, and they were deep in thought as they tried to understand what she said.

They remembered their brief discussion with Sullivan that had taken place before Ririsu moved into the house.

<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<

"What prompted you to adopt her as your daughter, Sullivan-sama?" The young security devil inquired.

"Hm... You'll know once she gets here. Hehe. I'll be going then, bye!~" Sullivan replied with a grin.

Opera sighed tiredly after their master's response as they stood there watching him leave.

>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

On this day, Opera finally understood why Sullivan chose her as his adopted child over all other orphans.

They gave her a faint smile for the first time. It's been decades since they haven't smiled in their lives.

"In that case," Opera said earnestly, "it would be my pleasure to have you as an equal and kouhai at the same time."

"Good," she muttered, giving them a mere smile.

Night time~

Ririsu was sleeping while the other two demons, who were still awake, discussed something in the living room.

"Were you two having a good time?" Sullivan inquired, sitting comfortably.

"It was nice to be with her; honestly, she piques my interest," Opera replied as they held the tea for his master.

"DEVI NO!!!" Sullivan exclaimed, his face filled with fear.

"I just got myself a daughter, and now you're taking her away from me!"

Sullivan cries in panic, tears streaming down his cheeks, while the other demon looks on impassively.

"Not in that way; you're exaggerating."

With that said, Sullivan drops his act and tries to act normal, as if he isn't having a mental breakdown.

"Oh... Really?"

"Yes, and it's ethnically wrong for security devils to have any other relationship with their masters besides serving them." Opera sighed exasperatedly.

"Okay. devi devi~" Sullivan uttered relievedly, giving them a thumbs up.

Opera reflected on the time they were with Ririsu outside the backyard, watching the sunset. They admit to themselves that they value her presence at that time.

"I understood why you chose her," they murmured loud enough for Sullivan to hear while sipping their tea.

"Heheh, That's goo-" Sullivan came to a halt midway, the whites of his eyes expanding as he realized something.

"Isn't that my tea?" He said meekly as the other demon ignored him while they pondered once more.

"This is going to be a lot more interesting than I expected."

DISCLAIMER:

I honestly did not draw this. I simply made this from picrew since I'm not good at digital drawing.

This is how I visualize the younger version of Ririsu. If you guys don't like it, I'll leave it up to your visualization of her. That's all, thanks for reading. :>
