"mr. park i'm going to have to ask you to leave this classroom and go to the office", said the teacher. jay, who had his feet on the desk while laying back on his chair just rolled his eyes and looked at his teacher.

"go to the office for what? they'll just send me to detention. this school won't do shit", he said.

"that's enough! we don't use that type of language here. now leave before i call the principal", the teacher yelled. with that, jay grabbed his bag and left the class.

jay was the rebellious type at school. jay didn't care about anyone or anything. he would do and say whatever he wanted whenever he wanted. he didn't care if a student or a teacher or if anyone told him to knock it off, if he wanted to do something he was going to do it.

"don't tell me you got kicked out of class again", said a voice. jay looked and saw his friend jake who was at his locker grabbing something. "i told you, that teacher is fucking crazy", jay replied while putting his arm around his friends shoulder.

"well what did you do that made your teacher 'fucking crazy'", jake asked.

"i didn't even do anything bad. all i just said was i didn't want to do the work she was assigning us and she got all mad. literally so fucking stupid", jay said, becoming annoyed recalling the situation that just occurred a few minutes ago.

jay's friend, jake, wasn't exactly like jay. you see, jake was a good student. he was very smart and active as well. he was good at school and played soccer on the schools team. when jake and jay became friends, it came out of nowhere. it pretty much all started when they were assigned a project together. jay didn't want to do it and tried making jake do it all by himself but jake made jay do some kind of work. ever since then, jake would always "bother" (what jay thought at first) jay until they became friends. nothing special but nothing worthless either.

"jay at this rate you're probably not gonna graduate high school", jake said. "so what? i can always drop out", jay replied while him and his friend began walking.

"where're you going?", jay asked. "to class like an ordinary student would. i just had to walk out to get a book really quick", jake said.

"boring!! how about you skip with me huh?"

"i would but can't. i have a physics test right now so i gotta go. i'll text you later though", jake said as he parted ways with jay, leaving jay to just walk around campus doing absolutely nothing

"mr. park you have already exceeded all the warnings each student is given", said the principal. how did jay end up in this situation? well he was caught smoking outside on school campus once again.

"well if i exceeded all the warnings then why am i still at this dumb school?", jay replied. the principal looked fed up with jay already and looked like he wanted jay out of his office already.

"i have already told you this multiple times mr. park. i have given you multiple chances to change your attitude so that you can do something good with your life. i just-"

"i obviously haven't changed have i?", jay interrupted the principal. the principal stayed silent before jay continued talking.

"how about you stop worrying about what i do with my life and worry about the affair you're having behind your wife's back", jay said. the principal was shocked and speechless when jay said this. with that, jay grabbed his bag and left the office and decided to ditch the rest of school.

"i fucking hate you!"

"fuck you!"

jay had been up in his room with his earbuds in listening to music. his parents were arguing once again. they had been going back and forth with each other, screaming at one another. jay had tried to block out their screaming by listening to music but it didn't work.

this had been a normal thing in jay's life. when jay was born, his family was perfect. he had loving parents who loved one another and took care of their son. but after his mother caught his father cheating, everything fell apart. their marriage had started becoming rocky. even after his fathers affair, he didn't understand why his mom didn't just leave him. even after dealing with arguments day and night, accusations of cheating left and right, his mother still decided to stay with his father. he didn't understand why they would continue to hurt one another. why they would continue hurting jay like this.

after their marriage began getting rocky, it's almost like they forgot they had a son. all his parents would do was sleep, eat, go to work, argue for hours and repeat. they wouldn't even check up on him or talk to him. it's almost as if he didn't exist to them.

that's one of the main reasons why jay is the way he is. at first he was able to do whatever he wanted without getting in trouble with his parents. he thought this was great in the beginning till he went years without having a parental figure in his life. it hurt jay a lot. it hurt that his parents couldn't say "i love you" to him. it hurt that even when he made somewhat of an effort at school, they didn't bother to care for it. it hurt that he couldn't have a happy family like everyone else. he lost so much motivation to do good in life because his parents stopped caring for him.

he stopped caring about homework or grades. he stopped caring about responsibilities. he stopped caring about the wrongs and rights in life. he stopped caring about everything.

jay, sitting down on his bedroom floor began to shed tears as his parents continued to fight in the background.

jay was once again in the office due to a fight he was in with another student. this wasn't shocking to anyone among students and faculty since jay has been involved in many physical fights throughout high school.

"i'm telling you principal he started it!", said the kid jay ended up beating up. the principal glanced as jay as jay sat in the chair crossing his arm with a cut and bruise on his face.

"jay?", the principal said. jay glanced at the principal and sat up before responding.

"what?", he replied back.

"what's your side of the story?", the principal asked.

"this kid kept messing with me and was talking shit so i decided to put him in his place. he should learn how to keep his big mouth shut before someone kicks his ass like i did", jay said. the principal signed as he looked down at his desk.

"here's what i'll do. either way you both ended up in a physical fight which we don't condone here at school. you both will be suspended for 3 days, understand?"

"but he-"

"you both are suspended. do i need to repeat myself?", the principal said, cutting off the other guy.  the other guy nodded before the principal continued.

"now you both may go to the nurses office to treat your wounds. you both may leave", and with that they both left the office and began making their way to the nurses office.

once they made it in, the main nurse began taking care of the other guy while the nurse had the student who was helping out help jay with his wounds. jay sat down and waited for the student to get the supplies to help him out.

"another fight huh?", said the student. jay looked up and noticed the student. to be honest, jay immediately thought the student was very pretty/handsome. the softly smiled at jay before pulling a chair in front of him with the first aid kit next to him.

"u-uh yeah..", jay replied back. there was silence for a bit as they got the supplies ready and began treating jay's cuts and bruises.

"you know, i heard a lot of things about you-"

"let me guess. i'm a bad person who is always angry all the time and is a bad influence on people?"

"well, yes but-"

"no need to justify anything, all people do here is talk shit that's- ah!", jay said as his cut began to sting.

"oh sorry! it's going to sting a bit since it's an open wound", they smiled awkwardly before they continued to apply treatment.

"but anyways all i just want to say is no matter what everyone else says, they don't know what you've been through", the student said. jay gave them a weird look, not knowing how to react to what they just said.

"what do you mean?", jay said.

"well..you seem to be putting on a tough act in front of everyone to hide your vulnerable side", they said. this caught jay off guard. he couldn't help but think "they might actually understand me".

"you know, everyone has a reason to act the way they do. maybe because of family issues or the lack of love in your life or maybe losing loved ones, whatever it is, people have reasons why they act the way they do", they continued as they applied anointment to jay's bruise. jay couldn't help but feel almost speechless.

"what...", he said, almost in a whisper.

"even though everyone says bad things about you, i think there may be a reason as to why you're the way you are. you can't always assume things about others without knowing what they've been through. it's how i've always been taught by my parents", they said as they finished up treating his wounds.

"all i'm saying is, i understand why you're this way and i'm hoping that things get better for you in the future cause no one deserves to be alone through the bad things in life", they said with a soft smile. they got up and left to another room to put the supplies away. jay sat there feeling speechless. everything they said was something he needed to hear for years. he couldn't help but feel some kind of hope for the very first time in years.

whoever that person was helped jay so much more than they expected. ever since then, jay hoped he could bump into the person sometime during school and give them a hug and say thank you for giving him hope to change his life for the better once and for all.
