"Fine I'll keep it a secret, but do know that Zoro wouldn't be impressed." Chopper said. He had been lecturing Sanji about how bad smoking and drinking was for the past fifteen minutes, and Sanji had managed to persuade Chopper to not tell Zoro about this incident. 

"So, I came here to talk to you about surgery, I wanted to know if you'd be up for fixing your chords a bit. Just so it can heal faster." Chopper said. Sanji's eyes brightened slightly and he wrote on his logbook.

Could you give me a brief of what will happen?

Chopper nodded, "sure." 

"All I need to do is move some things back into their normal place, I will have to open your neck up for a while but I'll put you on a sleeping medication so you don't feel anything. You won't be speaking after the surgery, definitely not, but after a couple days you should be able to make some little noises that will slowly grow into words. Pronunciation will be hard, so Robin has offered to do some small lessons where she'll just help you with pairing words together." Chopper said. It sounded easy enough, but Sanji would have to work hard to achieve his voice again.

Chopper smiled and nodded.

"I'll just wait for the nicotine to leave your body, and then we can start. I was thinking about Tuesday for the surgery, what do you think?" That was enough time for Sanji to prepare himself.

Sanji nodded.

"Good! I'll give you some space, bye bye!" Chopper waddled out of the room, happy with Sanji's answer.

(Day of surgery)

"Are you sure you're okay Sanji?" Zoro said as they waited outside for Chopper to finish setting everything up. Sanji nodded, Zoro had been going like this for an hour now, he wanted the absolute best care for Sanji. Zoro had been following him around, asking him if he needed anything, checking he had everything for the post-surgery and asking if Sanji was okay and he didn't want to go back on the decision. 

"Make sure you take enough of the medicine beforehand, I won't be there after because Chopper won't let anyone see you, but I've made sure you've got everything you need so you should be okay without me." Zoro said. He was practically a fly buzzing in Sanji's ear by now.

The doorknob turned and Chopper stepped out.

"Hey guys, everything is ready. Could you come with me?" Chopper asked, holding onto Sanji's hand. Zoro pulled Sanji back and kissed him gently on the forehead.

"Be careful, okay?" 

Sanji smiled and nodded before Chopper led him into the surgery room. Chopper looked behind him and saw Zoro's face pressed up against the window, mouthing the sentence:

"I'll kill you if you mess up you dumbass reindeer!"
