Chapter 3: New Life Ahead

Ok so maybe shoving a needle in my neck wasn't the greatest idea. That hurt way more than I thought it would. At least ill have an answer once I wake up, if I'm not dead...hehehe. I started to regain my senses slowly. I was able to distinguish the beeping of the heart monitor. I could also smell the clean scent of the hospital. At least that means I'm not dead. Now to see if my theory was correct. I opened my eyes slowly to see that I was still in the same hospital room. So, it wasn't a dream. So, I'm really in some sort of parallel universe where Naruto is real. Does that mean I get to live here now? A wave of happiness washed over me. My wish came true! I can't believe it! A smile spread on my face as I started thinking of all the things I can do here. First things first, if I'm going to stay here, I need permission from the hokage. To the hokage building it is!

I turned off my heart monitor and took out my IV, carefully this time. I headed over to the closet that was opposite to the bed and found the clothes I was wearing in there. Good thing I was wearing a pair of shorts and a hoodie and not my unicorn pjs. I took them out and headed to the bathroom to change, only now taking the time to fully look in the mirror. I looked about the same but younger. I'd say I looked about 11 years old. I didn't really care about being 11 since I seemed to still think the same way my 16-year old self did, so I just changed and left the bathroom. Pulling my hood up to cover my face, I walked to the lobby I was in before and out the main entrance. They really needed to improve the security in this place. That was too easy.

The sun was shining brightly outside. I looked around in amazement; it was exactly like the anime. All the bright colors and kids running around playing. It was just amazing. I had the biggest smile on my face. It felt like I was dreaming, but we've already been through that. This wasn't a dream. I was really here! I need to focus on getting to the Hokage's office before doing anything. How can I go there though? It's not like I can just ask around, no one here speaks English. Maybe if I just head towards the stone faces, I'll find the hokage building. As happy as I was here, my lack of shoes was getting pretty annoying. My socks weren't doing anything to prevent the rocks from stabbing my feet. Oh well, maybe I can find something later. I kept walking in a straight line towards the stone faces until I finally saw the building.

I walked into the hokage building and looked around for anyone I recognized. My body froze as Kakashi walked in after me. My eyes went wide, and my inner fangirl almost jumped out. Omgomgomgomg Kakashi is right there. He's reallll! OH MY GODDD! Ok breath, in and out. Stay calm, Elle. Keep your cool. He's probably going to the hokage. Just go up to him and tell him to take you with him. I walked stiffly up to Kakashi with a calm face, trying not to freak out at his awesomeness. I tugged at his shirt slightly so that he would stop. He looked down at me with a calculating gaze. WHY DOES HE HAVE TO BE SO COOL?? I smiled at him and said the only thing he would understand, "Hokage". He looked at me confused and said something. His voice was deep but smooth at the same time. It felt weird not hearing it through a screen. Once he finished his sentence, I gave him a confused look and shook my head. I repeated the same thing again "hokage" this time pulling him forward slightly. I was confused when he just started walking away. He looked back at me after taking a couple of steps and said one word "Hokage." I smiled knowing that he understood and ran up to walk next to him as he led me to the Hokage's office.

We walked for a couple of minutes and stopped in front of the Hokage's door. I made sure to memorize the way in case I needed to get here by myself again. Kakashi knocked and we walked in after hearing an answer from the hokage. He looked at Kakashi and then looked at me shocked. I smiled sheepishly and waved at him. He smiled back a wary smile and looked at Kakashi again. They talked for a while and I just stood there playing with my sleeves, lost in thought. The moment we neared the Hokage's office I got that strong feeling again. It was just as overwhelming as last time. Thinking about it the first time I had this feeling the hokage was also there. Is it his chakra? If it is his chakra, does that mean I'm a sensory type? I guess that would make the most sense considering my circumstances. If so, why can't I sense Kakashi's chakra. Is he suppressing it? I walked over to him and took his hand and placed it on my head. I still can't feel anything. The hokage was looking at me carefully, the last time I did something like this in front of him I ended up stabbing myself in the neck. Kakashi just looked confused. I gave him a confused look and said a word hoping he'd understand, "chakra?" he seemed confused, so I pointed to the hokage and said chakra again while nodding and then pointed at him and shook my head. He thought about it for a second and seemed to understand. He looked at the hokage and the hokage nodded at him telling him to go on. Suddenly, I could feel this electric energy radiating off him. it wasn't as overwhelming as the Hokage's, but it was still weird. So, he was suppressing his chakra. I guess this confirms my theory. Does that mean I have chakra too? I'll have to ask Hinata or Neji to look into it.

I pushed aside my thoughts and smiled at Kakashi, letting go of his hand and stepping away. Now, how can I introduce myself? Maybe I can do the same thing I did with the chakra thing. It wouldn't hurt to try. They were both quiet, observing me. This is nerve wrecking. I ignored the anxiety that was starting to build up in my stomach and spread an even bigger smile on my face. I pointed to both of them respectively and said their names and then pointed to myself and said mine. The hokage seemed to understand since he smiled said my name back to me. Ok, he knows my name. Now I need to tell him what I want. Sadly, that would need actual sentences. I can draw it for him but that could be easily misinterpreted. I have this idea; I mean it would raise suspicion about me but it's better than them thinking I wanted to destroy the village. Let's hope Kakashi will comply. I walked over to Kakashi and pulled him down so that he was eye level with me, I looked at him questioningly before continuing. He seemed curious so he nodded at me. I reached over and removed his headband off of his eye, revealing his Sharingan. His eyes widened and so did the Hokage's. They seemed to be questioning how I knew but if this worked it would be worth it. I smiled at them reassuringly, hoping that they won't see me as a threat and stepped back so that I'm not in Kakashi's face anymore. If my theory is correct the Sharingan can copy jutsu, so there's no reason it won't be able to copy a language. I just need to say all the basic building blocks of the language and then when I talk the Sharingan can do its magic.

I took a deep breath and looked at Kakashi and started saying the alphabet. The Hokage looked beyond confused and Kakashi was just staring at me. After I was done with the alphabet it was time to check if he understood me. "Can you understand me better now?" I asked and his eyes became wide as he nodded. The hokage seemed to understand what I did and leaned back in his seat observingly. "Can you talk the language, or do you only understand it?" I asked curiously. "My Sharingan was able to copy it so I'm able to talk as well." He seemed shocked at the words coming out of his own mouth. I smiled at my successful experiment and went back to why I came here.

"Kakashi, how about we start over? Hi, my name is Elle Candel and I want to become a ninja for the hidden leaf village." He seemingly got over his shock, "Hello kiddo. I'm Kakashi Hatake." He said with a close-eyed smile. "Do you mind being the translator for me? I would like to talk to the hokage about staying here." He nodded and looked towards the hokage. "Can you please tell him that I would like to be a resident of Konoha and become a ninja?" Kakashi nodded once more and started talking with the hokage. Once the hokage was done talking, Kakashi turned to me and explained what the hokage said. Apparently, for safety reasons, I'll have to go to Ibiki and Inoichi before I'm able to officially become a resident. If I pass by both of them with no problems, then we'll make arrangements for me to attend the academy.

After we were done with the Hokage's office, Kakashi led me over to the interrogation force. I walked in the streets next to Kakashi, ignoring my battered feet. What if Inoichi sees my memories of the show? What if Ibiki tortures me? I was getting really nervous about this whole thing. I stayed quiet throughout the way thinking about my cover story. I can't just march in there and tell them they're all cartoon characters. I need a plan. How about this? Bandits attacked me and my family on our way here and killed my parents. That seems believable, but if Inoichi looks through my memories, he won't see anything about bandits. I can just tell them the truth and leave out the part about the Naruto show. That could work. That's probably what I'll do. Oh, dear god please don't let them torture me! I was snapped out of my thoughts by Kakashi tapping my shoulder. I looked at him nervously and he gave me a smile. We were in front of the building so there was no going back now. Kakashi walked in, with me after him, and talked to multiple people until we finally reached Ibiki. This whole place had a heavy, cold feel to it, and I didn't like it one bit. We sat down, just the three of us, in a room somewhere. Ibiki talked to Kakashi for a couple of minutes and then Kakashi turned towards me with a serious face. The interrogation went something like this:

K: State your name and purpose?

E: My name is Elle Candel and I want to become a resident and ninja of Konoha

K: Where are you originally from?

E: I'm from another dimension

-silence-

K: How did you get here?

E: The last thing I remember is falling asleep on my bed and then I woke up here in the hospital.

K: How old are you?

E: I am 11 years old... right now.

K: Have you had any previous training or affiliation with any criminal group?

E: Nope, neither of those things.

K: Where is your family?

E: Again, another dimension.

K: Do you have any kekkai genkai?

E: Not that I know of.

K: What is your chakra nature?

E: I don't even know if I have chakra.

K: Is there anything you can tell me about any ability you have that might be useful?

E: well, I think I can sense chakras pretty easily so there's that.

This went on for hours; them asking questions and me answering with fairly simple answers. By the end of the interrogation, Kakashi looked at me like I was insane. He then went on to tell Ibiki what I said, which I enjoyed very much. He looked so done with both us that I'm pretty sure he asked Kakashi if he was kidding. After the interrogation, Ibiki led us to Inoichi. I was so tired at this point I didn't even have the energy to resist anything he might do. He sat me down in a chair and placed his hand on my head. After a couple of minutes of nothing happening, I dozed off on the chair from pure exhaustion.

Inoichi's POV

I was looking through this girl's memories about anything that might be threatening to the leaf. Weirdly, she had sections of her memories that I couldn't go through even though she wasn't resisting. All her visible memories though felt dark even when she was smiling in that memory. I only had a couple of minutes in there to look at her memories before suddenly all my surroundings changed. They melted into the scene of a young girl, maybe 8 or 9, with tears streaming down her face. I could see the girl with scratches all over her arms and legs locking herself in a bathroom, outside the bathroom I could hear girls talking, I couldn't understand what they were saying but every time they laughed the girl cried and added a scratch to her arm. It was really sad to watch such a young girl go through that, so I left her mind and released the jutsu. I looked at the sleeping girl in the chair, realizing that I was seeing her dream. I noticed Kakashi looking at me, sensing my mood change. I turned to him and started talking. "I only got a couple of minutes to look through her memories but from what I saw she's just a troubled child. I would keep her away of sharp objects if I were you." I said and walked out of the room.

Kakashi's POV

I placed the sleeping girl on my back and headed over to the Hokage's office. She felt way too light for her age and her feet were bleeding from walking barefoot all day. After the Hokage's office I'll drop her to the hospital so that she can rest. We reached the big red building and walked in heading straight towards lord third's office. I knocked and went in placing the girl on a chair as I talked with the hokage. I reported what happened to him and he looked just as surprised as I did when I first heard what she said. After a long report, the hokage agreed to let the girl stay as long as she doesn't pose a threat to the village. And since she won't be able to understand anything at the academy, she'll take private lesson with me until the graduation exam. This girl is going to be a lot of work. I sighed as the hokage gave me keys to an empty apartment and told me to drop the girl off there. Too lazy to walk, I teleported in front of the building the hokage told me about. It was close to the hospital so if she needed to go there, she could easily go next morning. I dropped her off in her apartment locked the door and left through the window.
