"im done!" you yelled and let a tear fall

"what? it was one argument" clay said back, he was on the verge of tears

"yeah, an important one"

"it wasnt though! im not quitting on us just because we dis-"

"shut up clay i dont want to do this right now"

"y/n what the fuck?"

"CLAY STOP" you paused "im done, thats it." you said seriously

"i love you" he called out after you as you got into your car

"i loved you too" you whispered to yourself as you started the car, it had been 6 months since lauren left, 2 years with clay, maddy was about to graduate and nick was living with you guys again, and karl was always at your guys house. clay got to be more and more short with you, always making excuses and no more lovey dovey shit. you missed him and you missed your friendship

"are you ok?" karl said while sitting up from in the backseat

"what the fuck?" you said as you stopped the car at a red light and looked to karl

"no" you sniffled a little and he climbed into the passenger seat

"im sorry, is it clay?" he asked and you turned down a random street and parked

"yeah, i just feel like were growing farther apart"

"dont date your best friends they say" karl said to you and rubbed your shoulder

"but we knew- i mean we- ugh" you wiped your tears

"its ok, love you" karl said and gave you a weak smile

"he took off his ring earlier"

"the matching ones you guys have?" karl asked shocked

"yep, thats why were fighting. i had a dream like this once" you said and looked out the window

just then you woke up. ironic huh? clay was no where to be seen,karl however was laying by you. you were both on the couch and there was a show playing in the back round

"clay?" you yelled out, no answer just a worried looking karl staring at you

"you good?" he asked as he sat up

"wheres clay and everyone?" 

"probably out" karl yawned

"where are we?" you asked as you scanned your surroundings

"your house..?" karl said awkwardly

"oh yeah huh?" you said as you got up, the front door opened and clay walked in

"hi, wheres nick?" you said as you walked over to him

"hes with maddy getting food"

you looked at the clock, "9pm, i guess i took a nap" you said to yourself. you looked to clay and saw he had the ring on, you sighed reassuringly and walked over to him, you hugged him tight

"i love you" you said and he just stood there and hugged back

"love you too" he said and smiled down at you

"k night" karl said and walked to nicks room to sleep

"i want to take you somewhere"clay said as he pulled away from you

"right now?" you asked and clay nodded

you guys got in the car and clay drove you to the lavender field again

"i love it here" you said as you got out of the car and ran to the bench, clay followed but he just walked and laughed as he watched you

"its even prettier at night"

"you're pretty" clay said softly and you smiled

"y/n" you weren't paying attention to clay who was just staring at you from the ground

"hmm?" you said and turned to him quickly, he was on one knee and smiling at you, you stood up quickly and he reached to his pocket to grab the little box

"clay?"

"y/n, you make me so fucking happy and i want to be with you forever"

"baby" you smiled

"and i want you to know that there is absolutely nothing you could do to make me ever stop loving you, you make me want to get up in the morning, live my life, i dont know what id do without you- will you marry me?" he looked to the water and back to you "im gonna start to cry bc i want you to say yes and by the way youre looking at me its making me worried" his eyes started to get glossier and he chuckled awkwardly

"clay, i cant..no"

"what..?" he said and stood up, a tear fell

"im just fucking with you, YES" you hugged him and he let another tear fall

"okay good" he chuckled a little and rubbed his eyes before giving you a lil peck and grabbing your hand, he took off the promise ring and slipped on the new one, perfect fit you thought as you put both hands on clays head and pulled him down to kiss you again just like us you pulled away and grabbed his hand, you both walked to the car and got in, you drove home and went to sleep, everyone was home and asleep so you thought you would too

"ayyy we're the fiances now" you said as you took off your jeans

"ha" was all that escaped his mouth and you giggled as you got in bed

"goodnight my beloved wife" clay said and wrapped his arms around you and kissed your shoulder

"shut up" you laughed as you kissed clays head. you both fell asleep with smiled plastered across your faces.
