Trigger warning: anxiety with fighting parents

I'm not sure if I should add a trigger warning for every time I mention the parents fighting, so please tell me if I should.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Y/n was going back home after a long day in the realms. She was told about how Olivia wandered into the Lair, and found Tom riding on Thunder. She was a bit wary, but eventually let him go through the realms. Unfortunately, she might reveal the secret to their parents.

Y/n didn't know how her parents would react to the news. She knew that the other riders' parents might be surprised, or furious.

For her, Y/n didn't know. Her parents were very unpredictable. Would they ignore the news, and continue to argue? Or, would they have the same reaction as the other parents, and stop shouting?

Speaking of which, when Y/n opened the door to her dome, and found her parents roaring at each other. This time, it was different. This time it was stronger and louder.

"What did you just say? WHAT DID YOU SAY?"

"I SAID that I WOULD-"

Y/n ran to her room, and locked the door. She felt shaken up being in the same room as them for even a minute. Even now, she could hear them yelling.

She walked over to her desk, where her headphones were lying on. Y/n put them on, and pushed the ON button. Soothing music slowly came out of the speakers and into her ears.

She changed her clothes, and laid down on her bed, staring out the window and into the night sky above.

Wait. What's that figure near the window?

The figure came to her window, and Y/n realized that it was just Tom. He spotted her and waved. She made her way to the window, pushing a button to lower it.

"What?" she asked, taking her headphones off.

"Can you come a bit early tomorrow?" he asked. "So I can talk to you about...you know."

That day, Y/n managed to force so information out of Tom, about his crush on Jun. She was trying to help Tom confess to Jun, but he was a bit too scared of the aftermath.

"Sure." she said. "No problem." Just at that moment, they heard a faint scream, that went something like "ARE YOU-WHAT!", which was followed by "YES-MAYBE-AM!"

"What's that?" Tom asked, looking at the door.

Y/n shrugged. "Just my parents arguing. It won't affect me coming, don't worry."

"It's not that." Tom looked at her worried. "I heard that they argue, but do they do it often? Like that?"

"Kind of." Y/n admitted. "Not in front of others. But, this is the first time they're screaming like this."

"You should tell someone. It could help."

"I'm telling you. Besides, it's not that big of a deal." Y/n was scratching her left arm, like she does every time she lies. Luckily, Tom doesn't know that.

"Good." Tom looked at her, then at the door, where bits of yelling was sneaking through. "See you."

Y/n nodded, lowering the window. She returned to her bed, and heard some more yelling. "GOING TO-YOU BETTER NOT!"

She sighed, and put on her headphones, the music still playing. Like that, she dfifted to sleep, wondering what's going to happen to her family.

Y/n was heading to the Lair, going a bit earlier than the other riders. When she reached the Lair, Tom was waiting for her. "Hey." he said. Soon, they got right to business.

"I was thinking about flowers, maybe chocolate."

"Like I said, it's simple. Just tell her when you're ready." Y/n shrugged. "It's not that big of a deal."

"Not to you. You have never done this before." Tom paced around. "What if I ruin our friendship?"

"She might still want to be friends, if she rejects you."

"How comforting." Tom said wryly. "Can you try to make me less nervous?"

"Hey, I'm just pointing out the facts. Not my fault reality is like this."

"Reality is like what?"

They turned around to find Jun entering the Lair. "What are you guys talking about?" she asked, walking over to Wu and Wei.

"Nothing!" Tom said a bit too fast.

"What's going to happen today?" Y/n asked him, switching the subject.

"I was thinking of patrolling the realms." Tom said. "You know, help any dragons in trouble."

"I doubt that we would come across many troubled dragons." Jun said. "You know, since we defeated Buzzsaw."

"Good point." Tom laughed. One thing Y/n found about Tom is that he is pretty good at hiding his crush on Jun, able to treat her as just a friend.

"Yeah." Alex said, as she entered the Lair, overhearing their conversation. "Honeybee destroyed his hatchet using her magic black spit!"

"We are not calling it that!" Y/n exclaimed. "Just venom!"

"I agree with Gonzalez." Eugene said, following her. "Venom is a bit too boring. Maybe we should call it magic deadly vomit!"

"That makes me feel sick." D'Angelo said, entering the Lair.

"Just venom, thank you!" Y/n said.

"We should let Honeybee decide." Jun said. "It's her ven- power."

"Good recovery." Tom said to her, laughing.

They all climbed onto their dragons, and flew down to the Crystal realm. Another day in the Hidden World. Y/n thought happily. I love this.
