Chapter 28

***Sorry it took so long. I'm terrible at updating. Made this chapter a bit longer than the rest. I hope you all enjoy. Be safe everyone and thank you for reading my story. I'm so happy this story has reached over 50K!  *** ~MiniChewiereadz

Everything was going according to plan. Miku looked at the direction where the mine was.

"Don't worry Miku. They'll be here soon," Kohaku says trying to calm Miku down.

Miku nodded and looked back towards the mine only to see Magma carrying a blind-folded Senku and a panicked Chrome behind them.

"Hey there Senku-chan. Welcome back," Gen says.

"Huuh? What the hell is..." Senku began.

"Ha! It's pointless to beg for help, Senku. Everyone in the village is with Gen now!!" Gen exclaims.

"Heh, heh, heh. Could it be that you guys finally realized that offering my head and science to Tsukasa on a plate is the most rational if underhanded course of action for the stability of the village?" Senku questions.

Miku slaps Gen upside the head and guides Senku over to where they needed him to be.

"You know I'm surprised Gen, that Miku didn't murder you when you all wanted to sacrifice me," Senku says.

"Well, it's not like she wouldn't try. Now..." Gen says while Miku pulls off the blindfold.

"Oho! It's the fourth of January, stone day!" Kaseki says.

"We heard it's your birthday Senku!" Kohaku says.

"From all of us here's your birthday present!" Suika exclaims.

Senku looks into the lens and sees Saturn. He pulled away and looked at the telescope in awe. Gen went on to explain how the village came together and built this observatory. With a little help from Miku of course.

"Men don't go around babbling about their birthday. How did you know it was today?" Senku asked.

"Simple, you told us to count how many days we've lived and proceeded to tell us how many days you lived," Gen says while shrugging.

"Still you wouldn't be able to do the math unless you knew how long I was petrified," Senku says.

"Oh you don't remember? You wrote it down. The date that you were depetrified," Gen explains.

Gen then goes over to Miku and grabs her shoulders, "And Miku guess what else I found next to that date?"

Miku cocked her head while Senku realized what Gen was going to say.

Gen smiled evilly, "Next to the date I saw a cute heart with the letters M and S inside."

Miku blushed while Senku just shook his head at Gen, a bit irritated that he told Miku. After that whole fiasco, everyone left except for Senku and Miku. Miku was standing by the door while Senku was by the telescope.

"Want to look at the beautiful sky Miku?" Senku asks.

Miku nodded and walked over to Senku. The two spent time looking through the telescope. Senku once in a while pointing out different constellations.

"Miku, since we share the same goal, I figured we could be partners," Senku says turn his head away so Miku couldn't see the blush that appeared on his face.

Miku looks down, "You mean as best friends?"

The two look at each other. Senku looking into the dark green eyes he fell in love with. Miku looks into the bright red eyes she fell in love with. Miku got close to his face making both of them turn red. Senku turned away while Miku looked down. 'Come on Miku. Just a kiss on the cheek,' She thought.

Miku closed her eyes and picked up her head. Senku looked back towards Miku only to feel something on his lips. It took him a moment to realize that Miku was kissing him.

Pulling away Senku stuttered saying, "P-perhaps, we c-could be more than f-f-friends."

"I-I would like that very much Seku," Miku says softly.

Senku smiled and pulled Miku close and gave her another kiss.

"You're a very important person to me Miku. If I had to choose a girlfriend... I would choose you over and over."

"You mean a lot to me too. I really do love you Senku. I have for a long time now," Miku says, tears threatening to fall.

Senku pulls her into a hug, "I'll be honest Miku. I don't know what is expected of me when in a relationship."

"That's ok. I don't know anything about relationships either. But we can figure it out together," Miku says.

"We'll figure out the science behind love," Senku stated.

"Let's not go overboard," Miku says.

The loving moment could only last for so long. Now that they had tungsten, the gang can now finish up the cell phone. The next day Senku told Chrome and Kaseki to work on upgrading the furnace. Meanwhile Senku grabbed Gen and pulled him towards the lab that they had built.

"Since you're a guy from the modern age, you're gonna give me a hand. You still know more about science than anyone in the village, probably," Senku says.

"How come you don't get your girlfriend to help you?" Gen questioned.

Senku just pointed to Miku who noticed the two look her way. She quickly grabbed Chrome and placed him in front of her, making him like a barrier between her and Senku. Chrome utterly confused at the girl's antics.

"If I got near her she would throw Chrome at me and climb a tree. She knows I'm not athletic so she tries to use that to her advantage," Senku says.

"I think we all know you're not that fit Senku," Gen says.

And so as the day went on Senku and Gen finished up with making the tungsten paste. Heading out of the lab to see Chrome's progress with the upgrades Senku was astounded to learn that Chrome combined all of the energy/ heating mechanisms that he taught him. Looking over at Miku, who could have built something better, Senku gave her a questioning look.

Miku just shrugged walking over to him and whispering in his ear, "He's very proud of what he did. Be nice. Besides this will give us way more heat than we originally wanted."

Senku nodded and the gang proceeded to make the tungsten wire. Once made it was onto the next step.

"Now that we can make the main unit of the phone. We just have to finish the vacuum tube," Miku says while looking over the glasswork plan.

"Yeah and I'm not even sure that old man Kaseki can handle it," Senku says.

"Oho! Don't say that. Despite my age, haven't I surprised you in the past with my deft craftsmanship in these so-called demonically difficult projects?" Kaseki says proudly. He reaches over and takes the plans from Miku. "Come on now. Let's have a look at the blueprints."

The old man was in a state of shock.

"It's called a Hickman pump! It provides a whole nother level of suction power, basically, a "suction pump level 10 billion"!"

"You sound like a vacuum cleaner commercial," Miku says.

"Funny I was about to say the same thing Miku," Gen said.

"A vacuum tube is made by removing as much air as possible. The simple prototype pumps we made previously for creating light bulbs are only level 1," Miku explains.

Kaseki just looks at the drawing uncertainty, "I don't know where to start... Can this even be made by human hands?"

"Even in our time the Hickman pump could only be built by incredibly gifted craftsmen. Ah, but I guess there's no helping that the definition of "craftsman" had changed with the times eh. Kaseki-Chan? It looks like it's hopeless!!" Gen says trying to fire Kaseki up.

"Is that true?" Chrome asks Senku.

"Yeah it's true, but there's no way that mentalist would know that. He's just running his mouth off to try and get Kaseki fired up." Senku explains.

After a touching moment between Kaseki, Chrome, and Senku, Kaseki got to work on the Hickman pump. Suika offered that she and the kids made the gold wire and Senku immediately put them to work. Senku with the help of Chrome dragged Miku to the lab where they were to start making the plastic.

"Miku I'm surprised you're not more excited to make plastic," Gen says with a smirk.

"I normally would but I would rather be making the Hickman pump with Kaseki. Or work on building something useful that will benefit the village," Miku says.

At that moment Kaseki came and dragged Gen off. Miku tried to escape with them but ended up in Senku's arms. Not wanting to hurt her boyfriend she let him hug her and drag her back inside the lab.

"Now Miku, since you don't want to be here I'm giving you this task," Senku says handing her some plans.

Miku's eyes lit up and bolted out of the lab.

By the time Senku and Chrome needed burnt coal cinders, Miku built not one but three stoves.

Miku stood in front of her creations with a smile plastered on her face. Senku walked over and pulled her into a hug. Whispering in her ear, "That's my girl," giving her a kiss on her forehead.

Poor Miku was a blushing mess after that.

Senku and Chrome went back to making plastic and Miku grabbed Gen and pulled him into a hut. She also asked for Ruri's help. The three would be making manganese batteries. Gen did not enjoy the fact that they had to make 800 of them. He also didn't enjoy the lecture that Miku gave on all things electronic and how every small component is vital to making bigger things function.

Soon enough the main unit of the cell phone was complete. Radio waves acquired!

Only then did it occur to Miku.

They needed two of these.
