Chapter 11-

Sadie's POV

I was just about to walk into the dorm when I was nearly ran over by Jace and Squid as they were running out of the dorm.

"Hey Sadie!" They both greeted at the same time, as if they'd practiced.

"Hi guys," I replied, smiling to both of them.

"Where are you going?" Jace asked.

"I was just going to go back to my room,"

"What? No you have to come check out the new game Charlie just got!" Squid yelled, way too excited for a videogame.

"I'll check it out tomorrow or something," I said trying to back away and go inside but both of the boys grabbed my arms and pulled me along with them.

"No way! Everyone is going to be there so you need to be there too! Let's go," Jace said, holding on to my arm a little too tight. Instead of wasting my energy fighting with these guys I gave in.

I followed the guys to the hangout in the library and to my dismay Kent was the first person I spotted in the room. He was sitting on one of the couches with a beer in his hand. I wonder how they managed to get beer when we were all obviously underage.

"Let's get this party started!" Chunk cried out dramatically, grabbing a beer for himself and plopping down on the floor, using the couch as a backrest and leaving a perfectly open seat for me next to Kent. Because how could my luck get any worse?

I sat down next to Kent, careful not to touch him but it was impossible since there were about three too many guys sitting on this small couch. I saw Kent smirk out of the corner of my eye but tried hard to ignore him.

Charlie and Squid were the first two to play the new game, with everyone else yelling at them and making fun of silly mistakes made. About halfway through the match I felt Kent move even closer to me. This boy and his games were beginning to get old.

"Did you have fun with the guys?" He whispered to me before taking a drink from his bottle.

"Is someone jealous?" I challenged, turning to glare at him and his smile grew.

"I'm always jealous when other guys get to spend more time with you than I do," His honesty caught me off guard and I was left with my mouth hanging open slightly instead of a cool comeback. Kent raised his eyebrows and winked at me, to which I could only roll my eyes at and pretend what he just said did not make my heart speed up.

"Who's next?" Squid asked holding up the remote. Two of the other guys quickly called dibs and the next match was one before we could even blink.

"Do you want anything to drink?" Charlie asked me as he stood up.

"Sure," Charlie winked at me himself now and walked away to the mini fridge. I heard Kent sigh and when I looked at him he was looking the other way. Someone was definitely jealous.

"Here you go, my lady," Charlie was back within a few moments and even bowed down to give me the drink. A couple others, including myself, chuckled at his dramatic notion. I grabbed the beer he had gotten for me and said a quick thank you before he sat back down.

I hate beer.

"Let me open that for you," Kent suddenly grabbed the bottle from my hand and popped off the top with his keychain from his pocket. "Enjoy,"

I took the bottle back from Kent and stared at the bottle for a second. The last time I had tried beer was about a year ago and it hadn't led to anything good.

"What's wrong with you? Drink up," Kent interrupted my thoughts again and this time I shot him an icy glare but of course it didn't faze him. Like always. "Don't tell me you don't like beer,"

"So sue me, jerk," I mumble shoving the bottle into Kent's hands and standing up.

With everyone's attention glued to the TV and game going on I was able to leave the room without anyone trying to convince me not to. I love videogames, but not that much.

As soon as I reached the steps I was being grabbed from behind by none other than Kent, who had followed me from the room.

"Where are you going, Princess?" He asked me, bending over slightly since he was so much taller than me, acting as if he didn't know why I didn't want to be around him.

"Are we just not going to talk about last night?" I finally snapped and Kent's face turned a dark shade of red. "Usually, normal and mature people talk about something like that,"

"Sadie I've barely seen you all day, when exactly were we supposed to sit down and have a heart to heart?" His tone was full of sarcasm.

"Maybe instead of running off in the morning and avoiding the whole situation you could've stayed and talked with me, but instead you needed to go pig out on Chinese," I tried to keep my voice down.

Kent's face got hard now and he frowned down at me. "Obviously there's nothing to talk about, Sadie,"

Before I had the chance to reply, Kent turned around and walked back to the room. I walked back to the dorm room alone and stuck in my own thoughts.

It's not like what happened last night was a huge deal but that fact that what happened last night had me thinking I had a crush on Kent was actually a pretty big deal. To go from loathing Kent's existence to suddenly getting butterflies and blushing when he was around wasn't my ideal plan for this year.

I felt relieved when I finally got to my dorm room, I didn't care if it was only five in the afternoon I was going to bed. I opened the door and started taking off my shoes before I even entered the room.

The smell of a few hours old Chinese food caught my attention and as I walked further into the room I understood why Kent was upset at my comment earlier.

On my bed sat a tray with three takeout boxes from a Chinese restaurant, a paper cup with a dandelion flower, which was now wilted, in it and a sticky note that said "good morning gorgeous".

I had been a complete bitch to Kent. Maybe his feelings were the same as mine and instead of giving him a chance to tell me that I assumed the worst. I sighed heavily and hurried to slip my shoes back on. I needed to make this right.

I nearly sprinted all the way back to the library but when I got back to the room where all the guys were Kent wasn't around.

"Where did Kent go?" I asked Charlie who was the first to notice my re-appearance.

"He left with Missy like ten minutes ago," Charlie muttered back, as if it were no big deal Kent had just left with the devil herself.

My chest felt tighter than usual and I had this horrible, dark feeling in the pit of my stomach that made me feel as though I could throw up at any moment.

I take it back, maybe Kent didn't have the same feelings as I did. Or if he did, my bitch move earlier definitely changed his mind.

Instead of staying and enjoying the videogame with the rest of the guys I headed back to the dorm room to actually go to sleep this time.

It took me ten minutes to get back to the dorm, longer than usual because I was dragging my feet. After taking the stairs instead of the elevator, I continued to drag my feet to my room, feeling more down than I had in a long while. As I reached the end of the hallway I noticed my dorm room was slightly cracked open.

A flutter of hope made its way into my stomach, maybe Kent was here after all. I hurried into the room and was caught off guard when I nearly ran into Kent's bare back, he was standing right in front of his dresser by the door.

"Sadie, what are you doing here?" Kent asked, spinning around quickly and a worried expression quickly washing over his face.

"Look Kent, what I said earlier, I'm sorry," I tried to continue but Kent stepped forward and grabbed my shoulder's with his hands.

"Let's go for a walk and talk about this," Kent rushed to say, letting go of me and ripping open one of his dresser drawers to fish out a clean shirt. Where had his shirt gone in the first place? There weren't any dirty clothes laying around, since he didn't know how to use a laundry basket.

"What's going on Kent?" I asked, starting to feel weird. Something wasn't right, Kent wasn't acting right and this whole atmosphere was rigid. Kent stared at me, his eyes still worried, but they weren't on me anymore, he was looking behind me.
