Winter

In high school, they say the best measure of success is, like, the clique you run with or the accolades you receive. But my metric is a little different. You wanna you know how you can tell
when you've really reached the top?

When someone wants to destroy you.

"Who wants a bite of me?"

I wondered through the massive backyard decked with decorations. Smiling at everyone as I surveyed the sight. People were laughing,chattering, and drinking. Fairy lights and banners were hung every Wich way, the swimming pool filed with clad sluts that did nothing more than dip their toes in the water. But never mind that.

My hands were heavy with the silver tray of pastel cupcakes heather had given me. Each had a topper with my face, curtesy of my best friend. She had planned and funded this whole bash, my face was even on the massive balloons behind the podium. My mini red dress inched around my thighs and my hair was styled in perfect loose curls. It took hours to straighten my naturally flufy hair and recurl it, but it was worth it. Back to the fabulous cupcakes

Trick question.
Everyone wanted a bite of me. I know. So ominous. You're probably like, "Why is she talking
in riddles when her life looks perfect?"

Listen, babe, in this story, nothing is as it seems.

"Bitch!"

Heather Chandler shouted as she neared heather and Heather. Smirking like a queen.

Her appearance didn't go un-noticed as two girls surveying the scene closely elaborated on the goddess that tramped past.

"I'd give my left and right tit to be Heather Chandler."

The dark haired girl said as she grumpily kicked the dirt. Frowning at the gorgeous perfection that stalked past.

The other girl scoffed. Hands on hips. Jealousy not easily disguised.

"Of course she's the westerburg student that made it onto the teen Vogue next gen list."

Her neon pink lips curled into a sort of smile as the two turned around facing the large screen that played Heather's teen Vogue video. Heather walked around in a red business suit while talking on and on about why she was "the perfect girl." Strutting the halls of school and smirking.

"And she's only a junior."

The dark girl added.

"God Ariana you sound like you want to wear her skin."

Ariana flinched and drew away, looking scandalized.

"She has amazing skin-"

Neon lips smirked and pulled Ariana back. Whispering in her ear as she brought her eyes back into Heather's grinning face and perfect teeth.

"She think we don't know that heather paid for this party?"

Ariana sighed and let herself stare into space.

"I bet she only got on that list because she goes to westerburg on a scholarship."

The two girls jumped when the sudden arrival of the queen appeared behind them. Her aura and smiling face bringing uneasy glances to the girls.

"Sage, your not trying to diminish the hard work of a fellow woman are you?"

Sage let her mouth hang open as she nervously glanced at ariana. Not knowing exactly how to respond. Heather Mac stood next to Chandler. Staring down the two bitches.

Heather took the moment to hold out the silver tray she held steadily.

"Cupcake?"

Ariana lunged for the sweet treat, much to the dismay if sage, who hung back still very much cunfused.

"Ooh-"

Shoving the tray at sage, heather allowed Mac to stear her away. Looping her arm and smiling as the two made their way towards Duke.

"You are at peak power tonight!"

Heather giggled. Mac was the closest friend she ever had and nothing more could amount to the best birthday party ever.

"I love you! And this party!!"

"Do you think I did to much...?"

Mac nervously said as they stopped in the middle of the lawn. Her sweet face frowned slightly.

Chandler took a moment to look around. There was a bush shaped as her. Hundreds of balloons with her face. She came to a conclusion quickly.

"No it's really understated."

Mac smiled, the two setting off again. Tramping through the dewy grass in their high heels.

"Your right."

They had made it to the pool lounge area when the familiar girl in a green sequined mini dress came bubbling up.

"Uh heather we have a slight problem...Betty Finn is saying that you bought your outfit at salvation army, cause she knows you can't afford anything else. But... I know your outfit is really cool and all, very vintage and eco chic... And we don't care that your mom is A-"

Her voice was rushed, obviously trying to make Chandler feel better. It wasn't working.

She gave Duke a look, prissily smirking innocently as she tilted her head.

"Stop talking."

Duke immidietly stopped. Staring at the ground.

Mac re-apeared moments later munching on a cupcake.

"Do you want me to push her into the pool? Set her hair on fire?"

Heather offered as she hopefully looked at Chandler.

"Oh my God heather!"

Mac gasped,  lowering her voice into a scared whisper.

"Why is it always your first instinct to light someone's hair on fire!"

Duke turned to mac and angirly squinted her eyes.

"Why isn't it yours!?"

Mac closed her eyes, taking a deep breath before reopening them to face Duke once more. Her shiny yellow eyeshadow clearly visible as she calmed herself. Doing what she did best.

"No. Okay."

She talked as if talking to a small child. Every word pronounced with meaning.

"We will handle this elegantly. Tell her to pack her ass up and leave."

Duke looked clueless.

"Ugh we need Kurt."

Chandler sighed, these two were obviously useless.

"Kurt!"

Kurt opened his eyes.

He was lying on a pool floaty. He grumpily glared at the girls.

"Who summons me."

"Tell Betty to leave."

He sighed before closing his eyes again. Plopping his head down on the rubbery float.

"Why do I always gotta be the vibe killer? Let heather do it. She likes choosing violence."

Duke flashed her eyes to mac. Happy with the outcome.

"nO! No one is choosing violence!"

Mac frantically yelped as she held out her arms to stop Duke from walking towards Betty.

Chandler took the moment to interrupt.

"I think it's time I make a toast."

The atmoshpere was cleared almost immediately as the excitement took over the two blabbering girls in yellow and green.

"I'll go freshen up!"

Chandler said in false happiness as she eagerly wobbled away from her two friends who were now tittering away to the stage set up. Smiling and laughing.

"Heather your getting crumbs all over me-"

Mac groaned and brushed off Duke's shoulder with her yellow jewled manicured fingers.

"Damn it!"

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
If you haven't already guessed, my friends were born into this life.
But me?
I was more..... DIY...
Outside the window of the bathroom I could see heather and Heather smiling and flashing peace sign as they took selfies on the stage.
Puckering lips and winking. Wearing their desginer clothing with fancy pumps. Mac was wearing this gorgeous fluffy sun dress that reached a little Bellow her knees. Flowy and light. Puffy sleeves. Her hair was perfectly straight and hung down her back, there were four jewel clips. Two on each side. She looked straight out of a magazine.
Duke was a little more flashy.
She was wearing a dark green sequined mini dress that was strapless, her brown hair was pulled up in a middle parted bun, with two braids framing the side of her face. She wore plastic green boots that we're skin tight to her knees. All in all a gorgeous sight. I was lucky to even be around them.
And before you start judging me about status, everyone cares about status. I just knew how to turn that dream into reality.
In this moment, I truly felt like i belonged. For 17 years I had miraculously worked on making the perfect life for myself.
I stared at my reflection.
The perfect curles framing my pristine face. Long dark lashes and bright blue eyes.
Now that I had the perfect life, no one was going to take it from me.
When i stood on the stage  people clapped so hard, their echoing admiration hitting me from all around.
"Clap more clap more!"
Shouted an esctatic duke from the stairs.
"STOP!"
Intercepted mac.
I grinned.
Raising the glass of champagne I held in my sweaty hands.
I smiled big. Like this wasn't the most nerve wrecking thing ever, but I felt like it really wasn't. I felt surrounded by admirers and praise. Like a celebrity.
"Thank you so much to everyone for being here!"
Suddenly I saw him.
The Sherwood Golden boy.
My boyfriend.
Ram Sweeny.
He stepped forwards. Grinning smugly as he looked up at me.
"Sorry for my lateness, I was just setting the last bits if my suprise-."
Suddenly the sky lit up.
Fireworks crashed through the dark sky. I held my hands over my mouth as the symphony of lights lit up the whole world. The crowd ooing and awing. He did it for me....
Suddenly he was onstage. Holding me close.
He pressed his lips to my and we kissed, onstage, in front of everyone.
The perfect couple.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

It was late.

A lone car sat in a parking structure. Two very busy teens sitting in the back.

"Tonight was great."

Whispered heather Chandler as ram held her close, peppering her neck with kisses. Carressing her leg.

"Yeah I'm just bummed we're gonna be apart all summer, who am I gonna play with?"

Heather giggled as she playfully pushed his shoulders.

"You could play with yourself."

He smirked. Pushing himself further on top of heather as he ran his fingers through her hair. Kissing her neck... All the way to her lips.

"Hey babe...."

He whispered... Disrupting the silence.

"You think, you could send me something to keep me company this summer?"

Heather did a double take... He wanted what-?

"What do you mean?"

Ram giggled as he stared into her eyes.

"You know, a little video."

Heather let her smile sag slightly.

"Yeah?"

She sighed.

"You really want me to?"

He stopped. Withdrew. All seriousness.

"I love you."

Heather frowned slightly. It was a slap in the face. Her dignity seemed withdrawn. The realization that he wanted more than she wanted to give. But.. he loved her?

"I.... Love you too."

Ram smiled stupidly.

It was late when heather put on her slip dress. Frowning and swallowing back her pride as she pressed record.
