it had been over an hour since xenia had ended her stream. she had managed to beat night three after two more tries and decided to just leave the rest of the game for another stream she had in the following days.

however, she had still been on the call with her three friends in the meantime to cure some of her boredom. "someone already put together a compilation of all the times you got jumpscared during your stream." corpse giggled, linking the video in their groupchat.

"how is the video seven minutes long with just jumpscares?" she raised an eyebrow.

"because you lost so many times!" tina grinned, "that's like asking why did it take a two hour stream to get through three nights." xenia—despite her embarrassment—found it quite funny that it really took that long for her to complete three levels of a video game. but at least it supplied for some content, right?

"i'm so tired." karl groaned causing xenia to check the time. it was around 9:30pm. "karl it's not even that late." she said, scrolling through her phone. "yeah but all the jumpscares made me tired okay??" he shrugged.

"same, i could sleep by now too." tina yawned.

"so you guys are leaving?" corpse asked, tapping his fingers on his desk. "probably.." karl smiled sheepishly.

"no 'probably's. we are leaving, but goodnight!" tina said, giving them a smile. though xenia knew what she was up to. and just like that, they disappeared from the call.

there was a brief silence for a moment only broken by the sound of soft giggles from her side of the call. corpse could only imagine, maybe the smile on her face was just as enticing as her voice? he might never know.

"what's so funny?" he quirked an eyebrow at his monitor, the light making him squint despite the brightness being so low. "nothing. just a tweet i saw- heh.. don't worry about it." she stifled her laughter, though part of him didn't believe it was 'just a tweet'.

to which he was correct about to an extent. she was originally laughing at a tweet before getting a message from tina reading "have a cute discord-date!!" which nearly made the poor girl burst into tears and double over.

he relaxed back into his chair listening to her quiet typing on the other end. it sounded loose and serene, similar to her voice; smooth yet gravely at the same time. it always seemed to push him out of a shitty mood.

"corpse, how do you think the stream went..?" she asked faintly, like she was anxious about it's outcome (for reasons he obviously is oblivious to).

"it went well, 'think it was pretty fun too don't you?" he stretched his relatively longer legs under his desk, cursing when he accidently kicked the wall. he could here a snicker on the other line.

"you doing okay over there?" she asked, clearly humored by what she had heard and ignoring the answer he had given her.

"yeah... yes i'm good."

"good."

"by the way, do you think i'll ever get to meet you in person?"

there was a certain emphasis on the word "i'll". she was very aware she was the only one really out of their small friend circle that hadn't met him yet. though part of it made her overwrought, she understood his thing about privacy.

he on the other hand was quiet floored at the realization that she had never seen him before. though he had never seen her either, there was only a theory in his head about her appearance. hair that maybe fell somewhat past her shoulders, hair that he knew was naturally just about as curly as his (though curlier because she argued hers was harder to maintain).

though her hair was somewhat less curly from the way she dyed it recently and from their recent conversations, it was a stark orange color. though features besides that were harder to distinguish without being able to see, like the shape and color of her eyes, the structure of her nose, lips and so on.

"um.. corpse?"

"yeah. yes i think you will. i know you will."

he felt a little embarrassed on the way he worded his answer, so quick and sure. xenia seemed to have no problem with it though, giving a complacent hum in response - refusing to speak in hopes he wouldn't hear the smile through her words.

"well goodnight xen." he said sheepishly. he was exhausted and knew for an absolute certain he wouldn't be able to sleep, but knew that she probably would. he'd hate to keep her up all night on a primarily silent call either way and the thought of her in person still lingered in the back of his brain.

"goodnight corpse. and i can't want to see you." loose and serene, yet smooth and gravely at the same time.

dammit.
