Chapter 10: The Nun

(Liebe's p.o.v.)

It's been a week since the rogue Fallen Angel attempted to kill Issei Hyoudou, and 4 days since Asta and I began training him to fight. I had contacted Azazel the day before and told him about our plans to train the pervert as well as ask him how to summon a Sacred Gear. He told me what to do and asked me to keep him updated on the appearance and what abilities Issei's Sacred Gear displays during his training in order to find out what it was. When we started the first thing we did was have our classmate learn to summon his Gear. When he did, we saw that it was a crimson red gauntlet with a large green gem on the back of its hand. Azazel told me that may still be in an unawakened state, but could evolve as Issei progresses. Then, we began physical training and we learned that Issei was not athletic in the slightest as he was struggling with beginner exercises. It was honestly so pathetic it was hard to look at, but what can I expect from a guys who's been more interested in chasing skirts than gaining muscle mass. However, he has proven to be driven to get stronger as fast as he could, which was a good thing. Though there has been something different about Issei lately, something that surprised not only me, but everyone at school. He stopped peeking on the girls changing and started to focus more on honing his physical strength. The female students have even been considering the impossible case that he had been replaced by an imposter. I couldn't say I blame them though. Like I said, Issei sudden change in behavior shocked me as well.

Currently, Asta, Issei, and I were walking down the street heading to school, talking about how well he's come along with his training. Issei groaned, "Damn guys, you two are brutal when it comes to training. Were you taught by a drill sergeant in some nation's military or something?" Asta replied, "No, we've always trained ourselves. The key to building up muscle is to start out a little and work your way up as it gets easier." I added, "Though in your case, you'll need to start out a little more intense than usual since it's likely we'll run into those renegade Fallen Angels again in the near future. While we're on that subject, I think it's time we add combat training to your regimen. We'll teach you how to fight hand to hand since your Sacred Gear looks to be designed for close range." "I'm eager to get started." He said enthusiastically. Then, we heard what sounded like a girl yelp and turned our attention to the direction we heard it. We saw a young girl with long blonde hair, green eyes, and dressed as a nun on the ground.

Based on the position she was in; she tripped over something and fell to the ground. I saw Asta go over to her and asked, "Hey miss, are you okay?" She looked at him and answered, "I'm alright, thank you for asking." I chimed in by saying, "Though it looks like you're losing your luggage." I pointed to an open suitcase with its contents all over the place. She looked to where I was pointing and scrambled to gather her belongings and stuff them back into her suitcase. Asta was helping and Issei and I decided to give them a hand. As I helped pick up the young nun's clothes that spilled out of her bags, I noticed her Ki. It was gentle, caring, and had not a shred of dark intent, as expected of a woman of the cloth. However, I sensed something else, something that really caught my attention. I detected a loneliness from her, the kind born from being shunned and hated by others for something you didn't mean to do or did on purpose. I could tell that she must've been alienated by everyone around her for a long time. This made me remember mine and Asta's mother, Licita, who had been forced into isolation due to a deadly curse she had. I couldn't help but feel sorry for the young nun. Though I didn't realize that I was staring at her until she asked curiously, "Um, are you alright, sir?" I snapped out of my daze and replied with a stutter, "O-oh, sorry for staring, you just remind me of someone I once knew for some reason." She didn't seem to think much of it and simply said, "I see. Anyway, thank you for helping me. My name is Asia Argento, I'm a nun that was just appointed from Italy to the church here in Kuoh and I'm afraid I got lost. Could you please show me where to find it, if it's not too much trouble?" She said the part about her getting lost shyly, which I honestly found cute. Though what she said about her being appointed to the church in Kuoh struck me as odd. I answered, "The church? But I heard that it was abandoned long ago." "So did I. Are they planning to reopen?" Asta asked. Asia answered, "That's right. I was told the officials at the Vatican were planning to reopen the church here and they needed a nun to help them manage it." It sounded suspicious to me
