Chapter 23: Dashing and sulking.

Caden

Holding the sandwich in between my hands, I gulped down at the mere thought of having it in my mouth and only after I took a huge bite off it did I look up to the face of the man in front of me. He stared with a little unlikeness in his eyes.

"Are you... are you sure you want nothing?" I asked once more though struggling to chew down my food. A slight disgust expression played on his face and he was quick to roll his eyes away from me.

I couldn't quite care about his thoughts on me. I was able to have my way. I was able to make him sit here. All I had to do was threaten him about embarrassing him in public. Of course, he doubted my words at first until I began crying, forcing tears and making it seem like he'd hurt me. It only took a few glares from the public for him to give in.

Arms folded across his chest and legs crossed, his eyes rested anywhere else but on me. Though he appeared dashing, I couldn't help but see his posture as sulking. Unknowingly, I let out a light chuckle.

His eyes returned to me and I straightened my face for that moment in an unconscious attempt at hiding the reason. Sooner than later, he rolled his eyes away and I continued with my food.

"Did you ever date?" My question was random. I know but seeing him this way, questions flooded my head and I just felt like this was the right time to get something out of him.

He gave no reply but I could tell he was a bit puzzled at the question.

"Do you always don't talk much or it's a stunt to look cool?" I just had to ask and as expected, he gave no reply. He didn't even look my side.

In conclusion, it's definitely a stunt to look cool.

'Why do you skip meals? Do you not look cool anymore when you eat or perhaps, you're allergic to almost all food ingredients?"

This time, he rolled his eyes back to me.

"I see you're done eating. Let's go." He stated before getting up to his feet, I was quick to take hold of his hand before he could walk away.

"I'm not done yet!" I exclaimed much to his dismay.

I raised my sandwich and drink to him that had barely gone halfway. "See, I'm yet to be done." I admitted, my hand still holding onto his.

His glare down at me was a bit emotionless. I couldn't tell if I rallied him all up inside or he was back to being cool headed.

Regardless, I was glad to watch him have his seat once more and my hand left his. I took a large bite off my sandwich and watched him as I chew. This time, his eyes never left mine. They were cold and inhumane. His face, straight and emotionless. It wasn't exactly that way a minute ago. Something changed.

"This must be fun for you, isn't it?" His question came out sudden and I wasn't sure if that question needed a reply so I just stared back, silently chewing on the food in my mouth.

'Fine. We're married and you have every right to believe your family's safe."

I halted on chewing at the mention of my family. His look grew meaner by the second.

"But... what if that's not the case. What if somewhere in my office, there are documents that can ruin your father's little company once and for all. Would you still find your actions fun? I wonder."

Our eyes burrowing into each other's, the stare grew intense. Slow but steady, I felt the anger rise up. He was trying to threaten me. He was threatening my family.

He stood to his feet and without wasting a second more, he walked away.

My heart raced a bit faster as the anger grew.

Calm. This is what he wants. To make me vexed enough to leave his side.

I had to remind myself and only then did I shut my eyes for a moment and took in, calm and deep breaths. Once back to my old self, instantly, I stood to my feet, taking hold of my handbag and hastened my steps out of the store, after Blayze.

Blayze

Good. She won't do anything stupid anytime soon. I'm done letting her have her way. Finally, everything's going to go back to the way they were.

The driver opened the door to the backseat and just as I was about to get in, I felt a pull on my arm and turned to see who it was. I couldn't help it as my eyes widened a bit in surprise at seeing who it was.

A simple smile on her face. "Ladies first." She stated and with that, she walked past me, getting into the car.

For a second, I was a bit dumbfounded. She recovered faster than I'd presumed. Unknowingly, I let out a silent sigh. In the end, I got into the car as well.
