Hey everyone I know it's been a while, a pretty long time actually!
I am really sorry for the wait and I am really happy to tell you that I will continue this story! I hope everyone's safe during this pandemic. Although I decided to continue the story I can't make any promises about the frequency of updates you'll be getting as I don't know how much I'll be able to keep on writing with my schedule.

*7 months later*

Courtney's POV

I grabbed the baby bag in one hand and picked Vina up in the other. I made my way out of the appartement and closed the door behind me. I put my daughter in her car seat when my phone went off.

"Good morning Charles!"

"Hello Court are you okay? You're late and it's not something I am used to. Do you need help is everything alright?"

"Yeah don't worry, it's just, Vina unexpectedly had a blowout this morning so I needed to give her a bath, couldn't leave her with poop all over" I answered buckling my seatbelt.

"What a cute little trouble maker !" He answered chuckling.

'yeah just like someone I used to know' I thought to myself but quickly dropped the thought.

"Anyway, don't worry I'll let the boss know you ran into some issues, and with your spotless attendance record I think she'll understand"

"Thanks, I'll drop Davina at my friend's and I'll be right there"

Well you might wonder what's going on?
Let me tell you all about it.
That interview I went for some months ago was a success and I landed that job. I know I still have a long way to go but it's all worth it right?
Anyway I met Charles there, at the law firm, as a co-worker, he's a close friend now and Vina's taken a liking to him when he comes over, he even babysat her once; he's good with kids. He says it's because he used to help his sister take care of her twin boys whenever he could. He works with me and I am glad to have him around.

When I moved to my new house it was a bit lonely at times but with him visiting from time to time I have to admit it's fun. When we first met he was the one to address me first, and I decided against telling him details about my life at the time, and that included having a daughter, because I really didn't think I needed new people in my life and I would never have guessed that we were going to be close friends like that.

That is until one day, when my car was at the mechanic's he suggested to drop me off, he needed a folder for work that was at my house anyway. As he waited at the door he heard Vina crying, she was still with the babysitter. That's when he knew about her. He didn't judge and what's more is that he never asked about her father and that was for the best on my part, I hope it stays that way.
Since then, he comes by sometimes just to see Davina for a bit and play with her. This guy entered my life unannounced but I am really grateful to have a close friend like him now.

Duncan hasn't been around much. He called Daisy for updates about our daughter at first and he thought I didn't know about that, but I don't mind as long as he leaves us alone. For the first few weeks I put some pictures of my baby in the folder he's hacked just in case he wanted to see how she was doing, but after sometime I decided against it, especially after he stopped calling Daisy and didn't try to reach out to me. I even thought it was better to keep my daughter away from a father that wasn't any good to have around.

Anyway, I have arranged a babysitter to come while I worked to keep Vina company while I was away but when she couldn't make it, my mother, Daisy and Bridgette would help me out when they could. I am really happy to have them in my life.
This is why, today, I am dropping Vina at Bridgette's before going to work. Bridgette is also super excited to have her around, she says that she is training to care for a child. She is 3 months pregnant, she and Geoff were planning on having a family for a while. Her gender reveal party is a week from now.

The expenses of this new life aren't easy but I'm managing and that raise I got two weeks ago was really helpful. Charles and I celebrated over some pizza.

If it's my love life you want to hear about well let me inform you that it's non existent as it's supposed to be. I decided against dating and I am focused on my carrier and on my life as a new mom with Vina if that makes sense. I want to be a good mother to her and a good lawyer too.

I rushed to Bridgette's house minding the fact that I shouldn't drive too fast since Vina was in the car.
When I got there she immediately took her from my arms and took the bag too.

"Don't forget to bring some snacks on your way back to pick her up Court! It's been a while we need to catch up!!"

"Okay Bridge I'll see what I can find! Thanks a lot for helping me out!" I said getting inside my car.

Bridgette just took Vina's hand helping her wave goodbye to me.
I waved back and rushed to the law firm.

When I got there the sound of my heels was echoing through the hallway as I hurried to the meeting room. Once there, I excused myself and took a seat next to Charles. He smiled at me and I smiled back.

When this long meeting was over it was already lunch break. When my stomach made a whale's sound out loud Charles laughed at me. I blushed then reached for my bag to search for my packed lunchbox only to remember that I forgot to pack it this morning with everything that happened. I didn't even have enough time to have breakfast, not even a piece of bread.
I sighed exasperated.

"What's wrong?"

"I forgot my lunch" I replied sighing again.

"Well we've got an hour to go and I really want to try out that new Japanese restaurant that opened down the street, let's go, my treat"

"Fine I won't say no to that! I've missed sushi, I couldn't eat it throughout my pregnancy so let's go! But hey I'm warning you if you really want to pay next time I'll be the one  treating you, deal?"

"Deal! We'll get Mexican food next time, my favorite!"

"Great!" I said laughing about how excited we were about food as we made our way to the restaurant.
