Daughter of Deadman | Chapter 2: Punishment

|Chasey's POV|

We got to my dad's house about 15 minutes later. He turned off the truck and sat there.

"I want you to go in the house, say hello, and then straight to your room," he said, staring at me.

My stomach grumbled and I asked, "Can I get something to eat first?"

He closed his eyes and said, "I don't like repeating myself. Do as I said."

I didn't say anything else. I just got out of the car and went inside.

"Hey Chasey," Michelle said, giving me a hug.

"Hey Mimi," I replied, hugging her back.

Kaia came running to me and I kneeled down to give her a hug as well.

"Daddy said you're staying with us full time now. It'll be so cool to see you more. Is Gracie coming too?" she asked.

I kissed her forehead and replied, "Nope, you just get me all the time. Gracie will be here on the weekends.

My dad came in with my bags and I let go of Kaia.

"We'll talk later, okay?," I said with a smile.

She nodded and ran off to her room.

"Let's go," my dad said, pointing to the stairs.

I sighed before heading to my room. As I entered, I dropped on my bed as my dad closed the door and leaned against it with his arms crossed.

There were two types of conversations to have with my dad. When it was just a regular talk, he'd sit down. If he's mad about something he stands, crosses his arms, and shoots daggers at you with his eyes until you break.

"I don't even know where to start with you, Chasey," he said running his hand down his face.

"Dad, I'm sorry," I said in a low tone.

"Don't even start that. You weren't sorry when you were doing what you were doing. Let's start off with the $400 bill that you have and I say you because I want every penny back. That's coming out of your pocket. You and Gracie are on a plan together. You and Gracie both asked for the unlimited plan which I said fine to. So please explain to me why I have an additional $400 added to the bill. Oh I know why. Someone went and bought a phone without my permission. Here's the real question, how did you get into my account?"

I just sat there. No matter what I said, I went behind his back which he hated. I ordered a new iPhone for my birthday. They said they weren't going to put it on the bill just yet.

"I'm waiting for an answer, Chasey," he said never breaking his stance.

I sighed and said, "I bought the phone for my birthday. I have a friend who works at the Verizon store and they did it for me. I used our address phone number, your birthday and what not. They said they wouldn't bill it until next month and I was going to give you my Christmas money to pay for it."

My dad shook his head and said, "So you buy a phone that you were going to pay for with Christmas money when in essence you could've waited until after Christmas, the day after for all I care to get a new one. I sure wasn't buying it and I told you the only way you would get a new one is with the new upgrade next year or if you used your own money for it. So with the Christmas money you get I will be expecting my $400 back for the phone that you bought without my permission. Do you understand?"

I nodded yes.

"A verbal answer Chasey," he demanded.

I nodded quickly and responded, "Yes sir."

He held out his hand and said, "Until I get the $400, you'll be handing that phone over. I don't want to hear about me not being able to get in contact with you because you're grounded indefinitely as of right now. Fight me on it and I'll break the damn thing and you'll still have to pay up. Hand it over, now."

I reached into my bag and turned off my phone before handing it to him. He slid my lifeline into his back pocket with ease.

"Now to the bigger situation at hand. What the hell were you thinking changing the contact information at school? Oh wait let me guess you had a friend sneak in the main office and do it for you? As for your grades, it's just this simple, you have until after Christmas break to turn in all your work. You better hope you ace it or you're done with volleyball," he said.

Okay, that's it.

I jumped up and yelled, "Dad, you can't do that!"

He titled his head at me as his eye color changed. I do not need to piss this man off anymore.

"You want to try that again?" he asked.

I shook my head no.

"I didn't think so. You did this to yourself. You letting your grades slip and having confrontations in class is what landed your ass in in-school suspension. If it was up to me you would've been off the team. Your education will always mean more to me than a sport. Everything you do that has your name on it needs to be 100%, not half ass. Your mother talked to the teachers and they said they would hold off on talking to your coaches if you got your act together by the new year. I got the email of all your work as did your mother. You have a lot of shit to make up kid so there won't be much of a Christmas break for you."

He walked closer to my bed and continued his rant.

"As for the walking in and out of the house as you please without asking, try that here and see what happens. Now come downstairs and eat then you'll be sitting at the kitchen table doing your homework. You want to act like a child then I'll treat you like one. You thought I was on your back before? You have no idea what's in store for you. No idea."

With that he disappeared out of my room. I sat there for a minute and I guess I was upstairs for too long when I heard a knock at my door and Michelle appeared.

"Not hungry?" she asked.

"Yeah, I'm just thinking that's all," I replied.

She closed the door and came and sat on my bed.

"Sit up and let's have a chat, Chasey."

I knew she must've been a little upset because she said my entire name.

"I'm pretty sure you know how upset your dad is. He's downstairs in the gym as we speak. I must ask, are you struggling in school? Do you not understand? You know you can ask me for help if need be Chase," she said.

I replied, "I know dad's not happy. I just, I don't know. No, school's not hard, I just don't feel like doing it."

"That's a sucky excuse and you know it. Your father told me about how hard he was on Gunner when he went through this 'phase.' Granted he could be physically tougher on your brother because he's a boy, but your father can punish you in other ways. Don't push him to that level," she added.

I nodded my head and she stood up.

"Now, come downstairs and eat and take a look at your work."

I got up and followed her downstairs. Let's see how this goes.
