In Which Virgil Has a Bad Feeling

'You're not gonna make it in time. Thomas is going to die, and it's going to be all your fault. Everything's going to fall apart because of yo-'

“99 jars of Crofter’s on the wall, 99 jars of Crofter’s; take one down pass it around, 98 jars of Crofter’s on the wall!” I was broken out of my cycle of self doubt by Patton singing to keep our morale up. Roman had of course joined in; singing with excitement similar to if he were on stage. Logan spoke the song, as he didn't like to sing. Eventually I joined in quietly; leaving Deceit as the only one not singing.

Patton almost started another song once we finished the first, but Logan cut him off by gently putting his hand on Patton’s shoulder, “Patton, I understand you are trying to keep us calm, but perhaps we should construct a plan with the time we have.” His voice was oddly void of annoyance, and instead sounded understanding.

Patton facepalmed, “You're right Lo, sorry for getting distracted.” He paused, obviously trying to think of something, “We need to find a way for our Thomas to kill Evil Thomas.”

“Perhaps we can fight Evil Thomas and weaken him, then once he is too weak to fight back Thomas will come in and, BAM!” Roman yelled as he sliced his sword in an downward motion, which startled almost everyone, “Thomas delivers the killing blow.”

“I believe that is our best option.  Logan replied after a few seconds of though, “I'm pleasantly surprised and impressed by the rationality of your plan Roman.”

Roman gave a confused half smile in response, “Thank you Logan?” He slipped his katana back into its sheath; which made me think of something.

“So, Roman, you've always had a sword, Logan suddenly got a gun, and Patton just got a knife. What's with all of the weapons?” I asked, not thinking I would get a definitive answer.

It took a few moments, but suddenly Patton gasped and looked so excited that it was like he knew the answer to life itself, “Maybe they're supposed to represent something in Thomas’s thoughts!” He looked around, probably wanting to know if anyone agreed with him.

Deceit raised an eyebrow and let out a confused hiss, “Is this really an important conversation to be-”

Logan cut him off, “That would make sense- in a nonsensical way,” His eyes lit up as he went into full on theorizing mode, “Maybe in some part of Thomas’s mind he had a brief thought involving weapons for us. Now, it wouldn't have been an important thought, so it would have never been mentioned; although it was possibly built upon. The characteristics of each weapon may represent-”

“Logan, is that you?!” We heard a voice coming from the darkness, a very familiar voice. It sounded a lot like-

“THOMAS!” Patton shouted, almost making me jump. I saw him flash an excited grin before running off in the direction of the voice.

“Patton! Stop! I don't think this is a trap!” Deceit rushed after Patton after he didn't listen to Deceit’s commands.

Us three that remained simply turned to each other and shrugged before running off in the same direction as Patton and Deceit. Although, I couldn't help but notice a sinking feeling in my stomach. I was almost certain something bad was going to happen, and it did.
