[A/N: okay so.. im rewriting a couple things in some of the chapters that includes kazunami. i just changed who kazumi dates, and i also changed some ships.. instead of dating chiaki, kazumi is now dating nekomaru!! AND I SWEAR I DIDNT DO THAT ON PURPOSE I JUST REALIZED NOW THAT GUNDHAM KILLED NEKOMARU KKSKXKSKZKS 😭😭 the new ships are hinamiya (one of my ocs x hajime), komamiki, and oumeno!]

There was Kazumi, on her own bedroom floor, a singular, deep stab wound in her stomach.

"KAZUMI!!" Gundham screamed as he rushed to her side.

No, no, no she's not dead.. she's not dead..

Then something caught Gundham's eye. "Oh my God.. SHE'S.. SHE'S STILL BREATHING!!"

Soon enough, Nekomaru, Akane, Nagito, and Sonia were right next to Gundham. "MIKAN, PLEASE, HELP US OUT! SAVE KAZUMI!" Akane called out as Mikan rushed to the scene. Mikan took a second to look at the wound. "The wound's really d-deep.. I can save her, b-but it's going to take a lot. J-Just bare with me, alright..?" Gundham nodded. One of Kazumi's hands was being held by Gundham, the other by Nekomaru. Mikan cleaned the wound before stopping the blood and wrapping it, her hands a bit shaky, as she was nervous.

"Guys.." Kaede said in a fearful tone, pointing at something, "Is that a knife..?" Gundham's eyes widened as he looked over in the direction that Kaede was pointing.. There sure was a knife, right beside her body. And there was blood on it.. Suggesting that someone might have tried to kill her, but failed. "Who would've done this..?!" Akane asked, her eyes full of rage. Nagito shook his head. "No idea, but they're dead once I find them."

Nekomaru gripped onto Kazumi's hand like a lifeline. He was holding back tears, just hoping the love of his life would be okay. Whoever tried to murder her must be a monster.. Kazumi had never wronged anybody. Gundham was holding back tears too, some tears of anger, some of panic.

"T-There we go.. She s-should be okay.. J-Just wait for her t-to wake up.." Mikan stammered, before walking back off into the crowd. Nekomaru took Kazumi's head and laid it in his lap, as Gundham put a hand on Kazumi's shoulder, seemingly trying to protect her from any other harm. Everyone stood around them in a circle, whispering amongst themselves, wondering who'd tried to do such a thing to Kazumi. That poor girl was the youngest one there, and she was the one being targeted..

After about 15 minutes, Kazumi's eyes slowly opened, her vision slightly blurry. "K-Kazumi!!" Sonia called out, making sure she knew someone was there with her. "W-What..?" Kazumi responded weakly, attempting to sit up. Gundham held his hands behind her back, supporting her as she sat up, then immediately wrapped his arms around her and pulled her close. "Are you alright?! Who did this to you?! Who tried to kill you?!" He was asking so many questions at once, that it was kind of hurting his own brain..

"Whoever did it, I'll kill 'em!" Akane shouted, her eyes full of malice and her fists clenched.

"Guys, guys, p-please..!" Kazumi began as she hugged Gundham back, knowing the next few statements she was going to say we're going to hurt him greatly. "Nobody tried to kill me..".

"T-Then what happened!?" Nekomaru asked, not really wanting to know how this happened. Kazumi was okay now, and he really didn't need to know any more than that, but he also wanted to bash the killer's head in with his fist, so he did kind of need to know.

Kazumi sighed, before closing her eyes and tightening her embrace around Gundham. She reopened them and said something that shocked everyone in the room..

"I-It was a suicide attempt.."

Everyone, especially those in Kazumi's class, went dead silent as they all just stared at her. Gundham's eyes filled with horror and sorrow as his own embrace around Kazumi tightened. Sonia covered her mouth with one hand and looked at Kazumi with pure sadness. Nekomaru teared up even more. Akane looked horrified, but Nagito's face was disturbingly blank.. It looked saddened, but also emotionless.

"Kazumi.." Mahiru, another one of Kazumi's closest friends, broke the silence. "Why would you do that..?"

Kazumi's heart broke slightly when she recognized the pain in Mahiru's voice. Gundham and the others were just so silent that it seemed like they'd break at any moment. "I-I just can't do this.. Not again.. I'd rather die than watch everyone I love suffer and die again.. I can't go through that again.."

Kazumi noticed that she was tearing up as well, her gray eyes glistening and glossy from the tears in her eyes. "Kazumi, please, don't inflict harm on yourself.. I'll work hard to make sure nobody else suffers an unfortunate fate.. I'll make sure that you are protected and secure.." Gundham vowed, his voice breaking, as if he were about to cry. He didn't want to lose his sister.. She meant the world to him, and if Kazumi was gone, he'd have nothing left to truly live for.. That is, besides Sonia, of course.

"I-I'm so sorry.."  Apologizing was all Kazumi knew to do as she felt tears begin to fall down her face.

Gundham stroked her back gently as he held back his own tears, his heart breaking more with every word Kazumi said. "Don't apologize.. Just don't do this again.. I need you, WE need you more than my small, subtle words can explain. I will protect you even if it means wiping out this pathetic, cruel world."

"He's right, love.. You mean the world to me, and to your brother, and to Akane, Sonia, Nagito, and Mahiru. We can't have you killing yourself, 'cause then our lives wouldn't mean a thing. Isn't that right, guys?"

All five aforementioned people nodded in unison.

"Hey, look.." Rang a gruff voice from the crowd. A large, extremely buff female with long, white, crimped hair stepped up to the scene.

"I know you think that there's no hope left in this place.. But trust me, there is. And you need to keep living for that hope.. Suicide is not  the answer. I would know from experience.."

Kazumi's teary eyes widened a bit, as she was a bit surprised that a complete stranger was partaking in comforting her. Not that she didn't like it, in fact, it felt nice to know that someone she didn't even know had a good enough heart to comfort her.  "I-I.. Thank you.." She trailed off in confusion, not knowing the buff woman's name.

"Sakura. Sakura Ogami."

Kazumi just nodded, giving Sakura a small smile. Sakura would never know just how grateful Kazumi was right now. "Thank you, Ogami.."

Suddenly, the group heard a ding coming from the ceiling. Then, a tiny bit of static played for a split second. They all shared a mutual feeling of dread when they heard Monokuma's annoying, high-pitched voice come on over the loudspeaker.

"Oh, everyoneeeeeeeee!!~" He sung, seemingly excited about something. Sonia looked up at the loudspeaker with a puzzled, yet annoyed expression on her face. This isn't going to be good, is it..?

"I need you all to head to the gymnasium, stat! We've got some new students.."
