(23) 知るか Shiruka

His shoulders slumped while his feet dragged across the ground.

The last images of you crying remained so crisp within his mind. Your (h/c) hair matted with rain, stuck to your face and neck. Brow upturned with your eyes slightly shut. Tears mixed with rain trailed down your cheeks.

What struck him was the painful smile. You still smiled yet in whatever pain you were in.

Bakugou's footsteps came to a stop, staring at the trees lining a forest. The rain came to a stop. It was ghost quiet, nothing but the slightest rustle of the trees leaves echoed through the air.

His gaze lowered to the patches of lush green grass. Did he do something to upset you? All he did was give you an umbrella.

Out of the corner of his eye, a slight glimmer caught his attention. Upon picking it up, it was found to be one of your feathers.

Gazing past the trees, he found a small sign. "Crystalline memorial."

He had walked past here hundreds if not thousands of times. How come it was never noticed? Stepping closer, he could barely make out the painful cries of a (gender).

It sounded like (y/n). Is this where they ran off too?

Walking past the trees, he found a small graveyard. Old and no longer taken care of. Vines ran up the tombs and at the edge sat a large statue of two people dancing.

Slowly, he walked closer, finding distinct rainbows splattered across them. The cries grew louder but softened the closer he got.

Curiously he came closer to the statue, finding a ball of translucent feathers curled up over the nameplate.

"... (y/n)?"

Their entire body twitched before curling up beneath the set of wings. A school bag with a certain clear umbrella sat at their feet.

"(y/n). Is that you?" He asked softly. Bakugou certainly didn't want to scare them.

They sat up slowly, barely lowering the wings just enough to see a pair of reddened (e/c) eyes stare blankly at him.

(y/n) did seem like themselves. They were quiet, seemingly afraid. Any rash movement might get him cut with the large feathers.

Slowly, he kneeled in front of them. "... Hey, mind? I'm not fucking good at this shit though."

Their eyes scanned him over before lowering the wings. Taking the small umbrella, he opened it and took a seat next to them.

(Y/n) sat facing forwards, hugging their knees, even hiding from him in them.

He was much too awkward for this. Not to mention he wasn't sure what to do.

Their body shook, barely enough for him to notice just how cold they might be.

"Here." He offered his body heat only to get ignored. Taking the response, he slid off his jacket and offered it. "Just cover yourself. It's cold."

They took it and played it in their lap. It was a couple of minutes of silence until they had leaned against his shoulder.

"I'm sorry." They sounded so hurt and sad. Bakugou scoffed.

"Don't be. It's normal."

In their lap, Bakugou stared at their hands, picking and pulling at the skin. He offered his palm instead.

"Here. That's not good for your hands." Their cold fingertips slowly traced circles on the outside of his thumb. Something about this felt weird.

Not that he was trying to help. The fact they were so close. So vulnerable to him. He couldn't help but wonder if anyone else even got this close?

"Hey... Are those?" He asked carefully. He didn't want to start an anxiety attack. Their gaze lifted to the statue.

"Hm... It's my momma and papa." Their voice was soft almost mute. "They live here."

Now that he thought about it, they'd been unusual today. Aggressive when it came to training, yet quiet in class. Not a word unless someone spoke to you first.

Had you been hiding this severe panic attack all day?

"It's nice to meet them." In all honesty, he felt guilty for not noticing it sooner.

"I'm sorry... You don't need to be alone anymore."

Their fidgeting on his hand slowly ceased while their (e/c) gaze lowered. Their body slumped against his.

Bakugou looked at a tree, just in case they felt uncomfortable.

"Ivan is my world. But he doesn't remember anything but me." He could barely hear their voice. Soft and quiet as if not to wake a sleeping child.

"I've... I've... Carried it all for them, because I'm the only one who can." Their hand reached out, stroking a white small flower. Its petals are littered with water droplets. Their finger barely stoked one of the petals, removing the small amount of water.

"I know he tries, but he feels guilty for forgetting them."

Even in this situation, Bakugou noticed they didn't talk about themselves. Only that annoying little boy who had a death grip on their heart.

He could only guess how much he meant to them. The only part of their parents that was left.

"So... I won't allow him to be weak... Or myself by extension." They picked the flower, holding it delicately between their fingertips.

Bakugou's chest felt heavy. It felt different from the few talks they've had before. Only because he was the one talking. His words weren't needed here, only him.

They were talking to no one. Not even him. It seemed like a version of their parents stood in front of them, listening to their child talk.

Soon, they fell silent. The tears on their reddened cheeks dried to salty tracks. And, without a warning, they stood.

They shook the large crystal wings out of any water, splattering the all too familiar rainbows everywhere.

"Hey... Bakugou?"

The male hummed slightly.

"Can you not mention this? It's rather private." A red blush spread across their nose and cheeks, even to the ears.

Bakugou huffed. "Why would I fucking do that? It's not my business." He stood to wipe the dirt from his pants.

(y/n) turned around, still sadness written behind their gaze, yet a warm smile pulled on their lips. "Thank you. Truly."

They turned around, stretching the wings again. "I need to get Ivan. I'll see you later."

Bakugou waved slightly. His thoughts completely shambled. Before he utter a goodbye, their form was taken to the sky.

A warm feeling spread throughout his chest. The realization hit him like a semi-truck.

A loud groan rumbled from the back of his throat. "Noooo, fuck me."

He stared at their form reaching above the tree line. It hovered for a heartbeat before a large feather detached. It launched at something just as their entire body went limp.

It plummeted the 50 feet fall and into the ground with a dull thud.

He rushed forwards to the edges of the forest. Lungs and mind running wild. He halted in front of their body, twitching.

"Baku-Bakugou... R-Run..." He turned their body over, barely lifting yet heavy wings. A small dart sat in the crook of their neck.

"What the fuck is going on?" Their eyelids barely opened to look at him. Fumbling words sliced through a pair of closed lips.

"P-protect I...Ivan."

He carefully removed the dart as their entire body went limp. "Hey! Hey! Wake up dumbass!"

Two pairs of footsteps echoed in his ears. "Can't have you interrupting. Now cam we?"

Something sharp hit the back of his neck. All feeling throughout his body went numb. (y/n) slid from his arms as he collapsed to the ground.

The world around him grew numb. Words echoed continuously through his head.

"Now now. We finally have you two." The Male's voice sounded familiar. He couldn't place it. Two pairs of shoes stepped into view, one being a pair he registered.

"Aw! They're super cute!"

Someone lifted their body, throwing it over their shoulder.

"Let's just leave. No need for Bakugou now. Useless Mutt."

The voices distanced themselves. He tried so hard to move, yet the world around him grew darker.

"Aw! I wanted to have some fun too!"

"Shut up... You'll kill them in dear time. After I've got what I want."

Footsteps faded away, his body ached and grew out of touch. Everything in him screamed and yelled. He was muted. Watching (y/n) be taken right before his eyes.

They were right. He was useless.

The world grew dark, the last thing lingering in front of him was a single rainbow glistened feather, cracked in half.
