Chapter Seven

I froze.

'kiss him?'

I didn't know what to say. "I-" I started to say something but I was cut off by the girl behind the counter yelling,

"Redfox table for two?" Gajeel seemed annoyed that the woman interrupted. "I guess we better go....." I said walking towards the woman. She brought us to a table and we sat down.

A little while later a different girl came to us. She was very slim. She had chestnut brown hair and almond eyes.

"Hi my name is Jessie and I will be your server today" Jessie stated politely. She smiled and took out a small notepad.

"What can I get you guys to drink?" Jessie asked.

"I'll have an iced tea," I said.

"Water" Gajeel growled.

"Your drinks will be out in a minute," Jessie said, walking away.

I started to play with my fingers. I didn't know what to say, so I didn't say anything. Gajeel was staring at me but I tried to keep my head down.

"Shrimp?" Gajeel asked, in a lighter tone than before.

"Yeah," I said. "Do you want to kiss me?" He asked. I froze, yet again. Do I? No. Yes. Maybe?? I can't keep lying to myself. I want to kiss him but I know that would make things worse.

"Gajeel I want to kiss you but," He raised an eyebrow. "that would only make things harder," I explained. He looked almost shocked but not there quite yet.

"I see" Gajeel stated while crossing his arms and looking to the right. "Gajeel, don't be like that," I said reaching out to touch his hand.

Before I could touch it, he pulled it away. I quickly pulled away and looked down. The rest of breakfast was awkward and quiet. We didn't breath one word to each other. And Gajeel, looked at everything in the room, except at me. Once we finished, we walked out. I knew that if we did everything else I had planned for today, it would not be fun.

'way to go levy. you blew it again'

"I guess we'll go back to the hotel......" I squeaked. He just nodded and started walking. The streets were really crowded, just like back home. So whenever somebody bumped into me, it didn't bother me because I was so used to it. Plus, my mind was very clouded. I could barely even notice anything about my surroundings.

I guess if I did, I would have seen him coming. I saw a man in the distance that......stood out. He didn't look like any of the well-dressed businessmen or any of the lawyer women. He was wearing dirty rags that had a bunch of holes in them. His face and hands were dirty and his feet were bare. He also looked like he was mumbling something to himself and was shaking.

He kind of scared me in a way. I didn't know why I guess my gut was telling me something was off about him. And it was right. As he came closer and closer to me, my nerves got more and more out of control. Before I knew it, he was reaching his hand out.

He grabbed my purse and started running at a lightning speed.

"THEIF!! THEIF!! HE STOLE MY PURSE!" I screamed, starting to run after him. As I was running I saw Gajeel zoom past me, heading towards the man. I have to admit, the guy was fast but Gajeel was faster. The guy looked behind him to see Gajeel so close. His eyes widened but he kept running. He made a sharp turn into an alleyway.

There were tons of trash bags lining the walls. The guy tipped one over and kept running. Gajeel swiftly jumped over it. The guy pushed some more down, and Gajeel kept on jumping over them. Soon, he was out of trash bags and got to a dead end. He looked around to see if there was an escape, but there wasn't. Gajeel stopped running and walked towards the man.

Anyone could plainly see that the guy was scared. He was shaking and violently turning his head and looking in all different directions. When Gajeel got to him. He snatched my purse out of his hand and grabbed the guy by the throat. He raised him up.

When I finally caught up with them, I gasped.

"Gajeel, don't hurt him," I said, as calmly as I could at the moment. The guy was clawing and pulling at Gajeel's hand, but it wasn't moving.

He was having a hard time breathing, and I got a little nervous. Sure, he did steal my purse but that doesn't mean he should die. "Don't you ever touch Levy again. Got it, pal?" Gajeel said, tightening his grip ever so slightly.

The guy nodded. "I said, GOT IT, PAL?!" Gajeel yelled.

"Y-Yeah!" The guy said, really out of breath. "Good" Gajeel growled. He let go of the guy which made him drop. He coughed and stayed on the ground.

"Call the police, Levy. I want this bastard in jail" Gajeel said sternly glaring at the guy. Wow. If looks could kill, that guy would be as good as gone.

I dialed 911 and gave them the information. They were here in about 5 minutes. Every second, I was staring at Gajeel. He was sweating but not painting. He didn't stop looking at the guy.

Even when the police came. They put the guy in handcuffs, then in one of their cars. One of the police officers came up to us. "Hello. My name is Leo. I would just like to ask you guys a couple questions. Is that alright?" He asked. He was wearing a blue police uniform with black shoes. He was pretty pale and had a dark orange hair.

He also had glasses with blue lenses that were seated on the bridge of his nose.

"That would be fine," I said, smiling. He took out a notepad and pen.

"Where did this occur?" He asked. "Just a couple blocks over," I said.

"Ok, he took your purse, correct?" He asked, pulling up his glasses. "Correct" I stated.

"You are the one who ran after the man, correct?" He said, looking at Gajeel.

"Yeah," Gajeel answered. "So you were just protecting your girlfriend, I see," Leo said while writing something down on his notepad. I could feel the redness on my cheeks. "I'm not, well, he's not, ummmm" I stated.

"I'm not her boyfriend," Gajeel said. He sounded kind of, disappointed. It took me by surprise. I kind of felt bad for him...... "So he's just your friend?" Leo asked, eyeing me.

"Well, yeah," I said tucking a piece of hair behind my ear. Gajeel sighed and looked down.

"Well, that just about is it! I just need you to sign here," Leo pointed to a line and held out a pen.

I took the pen and paper and signed my name.

"Ok sir, sign here," Leo said pointing to the line right across from the one I signed my name on. Gajeel practically snatched the pen and paper from me and quickly signed his name. He gave it all back to Leo.

"Thank you both, have a nice day!" Leo said while waving. I waved back and said, "Bye Leo!" He got into his car and drove off. I let out a sigh of relief and looked up at Gajeel. "Thank you"
