Chapter 5

Y/N's POV:

I am so excited to see Mike again! I'm so lucky that I am his friend, and that he's trying to make new friends. To be honest, I need friends too. Friend wise, I only have one. Some people say "quality over quantity", but I need more friends instead of one. Imagine if I stop being friends with my bestie? Then what would happen? I would have no one to talk to. And, I mean, sometimes that's good, but having no friends is kind of sad. No wait, it is.

After I was done with my coffee and (food), I decided that I was going to go to the park before Mike, so then I could relax. And you may be thinking; "But Y/N, you just relaxed!" Well, I can relax all I want. You can never have too much relaxation. Oh wait, you can. Never mind.

 I was lucky to find no one in the park, because oh my goodness there's always so many kids here. Some scream so much that they can break glass with so much pitch in their screams. So, I could finally sit down on the same bench under the same tree, where Mike and I talked. Even though it was yesterday when I talked with him, I still miss him. I am talking with a celebrity. A celebrity! A... celebrity... ok to you I may sound completely insane, but if you were friends with a celebrity, you would be more than happy. Ecstatic... Yeah, that's the word.

While I was waiting, I was looking around and I saw... Duncan? He was looking around for a moment, then ran towards me.

He catches his breath. "Listen to me, ok? Mike isn't Mike anymore! He isn't!" Duncan shouts.

"Ok, first of all, lower your voice. Second of all... WHAT?!" I reply.

"I'm going to say this as quickly as possible, but Mike is now Mal and Mal is coming now! He's been in control this whole day and came to me to ask things about you. I saw him walking! If you've watched Total Drama, you know that he whistles Hall of the Mountain King! I saw him doing that, and Mike definitely would never whistle that song. So, you need to go somewhere! Run! Hide for all I care! Something's going to happen, and it's not gonna be good!" Duncan looks around, paranoid.

"Alright. I'll go. But you're really sure?" I ask, then I look around with him.

He looks back at me. "Yes!" He grabs me by the shoulders. "Listen, I would be doing this with anyone right now. Grabbing their shoulders and yelling. I am being serious when I say that you gotta go!" He looks behind him, and he sees Mal, walking up the small path, and onto the small hill where the playground stood. "There he is! He's coming now! Go, go!" Duncan then pushes me, and I start to run.

I'm not a great runner, but the adrenaline was pumping and I was going fast. I didn't dare to look behind me. I just kept on running until I went on a path that makes a right turn to another street. And so, I cut through the trees to not be spotted, and I finally got to the street. I catch my breath, dusting off the branches and leaves that are attached to my clothing. When that was done, I quickly turned back slowly. I go closer to a tree, and I hug it. I crouch down, and I look. I see Duncan and Mal talking. By looking at the gestures, I could see that Mal was mad and Duncan was scared. And, I could see Mike's hair down. That's basically a code for "That's Mal". But, I'm still wondering... why would he help me? What would've Mal done if Duncan didn't come? Well, I don't have to think about that anymore. All I am doing is watching quietly.

ML's POV:

"What did you do..." I ask Duncan. Him being there isn't a coincidence.

"I, uh, nothing! I've just been standing here!" Duncan replies.

"Oh, ok..." I turned around, pretending that I was about to walk away, but then kicked him to the ground quickly, putting one foot on his chest. "I'm not an idiot. You told Y/N to leave, didn't you?"

Duncan yells, then looks at me with a fearful look. "No! No really Mal why would I lie to you buddy?"

I push harder on his chest, making the weight from my foot unbearable. Duncan looked like he was struggling. "Hey, dude what's the matter? I didn't do anything! I swear!"

I look at him with a serious look. He really does think that I'm an idiot. Well, he's so very wrong. "Confess now, or I'll break your ribs." I say in a serious tone.

"Hell no! I don't have anything to confess!" Duncan replies.

I push so hard that you hear a few little crackles. Duncan yells. "NOW. I'm being serious. One last chance or say goodbye to your precious ribs."

"FINE, OK! SHE RAN THAT WAY!" Duncan points to his left.

I release the pressure. He sighs in relief. "Good. Good day now." I then started to walk in the direction that he pointed to. I then realise there's two directions. I turned back to ask which direction, but Duncan was already gone. What am imbecile. I'll just have to test my luck...

Y/N's POV:

Oh no. Oh no no no. Mal is walking this way. This very way. Oh god. I stop hugging the tree as I walk backwards, stumbling a bit. I look behind me, turning myself in that direction. I looked left, and I decided that it was best to go that direction. I quickly run through that street, where I then realise that it's a neighbourhood. I saw two kids playing basketball on the driveway, someone walking their dog, and three girls, about 13, walking and talking together. I am still running, and I decided that since there's a little gap in between two houses, I could maybe go through there and jump a fence. Yes, I know, I can do that. So, I quickly ran in between the two houses... when I realised that on my right there was a kid and their dog. I gotta do this fast!

I heard the dog barking, and the kid tried to get the dogs attention again. The dog started running towards me, so I quickly jumped the fence... and I failed. Just kidding! I successfully jumped the fence and ran right. I kept on running that direction until I got to a dead end. I cut through the forest and into another park, where there were tracks for trains. I run towards the swings, and I lean on the bar. I catch my breath. I've never run so fast in my whole life.

I stayed there for about 15 minutes. I'm now laying on the ground, looking at the sky, still panting from that whole thing. Even if it wasn't so long, I still feel like I've run a mile. No, two miles. Oh forget it! ONE HUNDRED!

I am still looking at the sky, realising that there's a big grey cloud above me. Great. It's going to rain. How lovely. But, I have been sweating... Never mind! Please rain!

While I was wishing for rain, I heard footsteps, walking closer and closer... I look to my left, and I see... MAL! Mal's here, right now! I quickly get up, and I start to walk backwards.

"Shaky breath you have... are you scared?" Mal asks. He had a cold, low voice. I haven't heard that voice in such a long time. It sounded scary yet so mysterious...

"N-no! No! Just... keep your distance..." I back against a fence. I look to my right, and I notice a long but durable stick. I quickly grab it, and I point it to Mal. "Come closer and I'll hit you." I try to sound scary. Clearly, he was amused.

"With that flimsy thing? Oh please." He grabs the stick, and starts to bend it.

"What the... hell?" I tried to shake it out of your hand, but it continued to make crackle noises and was about to snap. But, I successfully shook it out of his hand, and hit him in the head hard with it.

Mal yelled and fell to the ground. He grasped his head in pain, and looked back at me. "That... wasn't something I was expecting. Maybe, Y/N, you're not as bad as I thought..."

"What? 'Not as bad as I thought'...? Is that supposed to be a compliment?" I ask. I raise an eyebrow.

"I guess you could call it that." He then slowly got up, and looked back at me.

"How flattering, but it's about to rain, and I gotta get home, so.... yeah. Adios!" I then ran off, the stick still in my hand. It started to dig into my skin, but I didn't care. I needed to get home. That's the only safe place I have.

"You little...!!" Mal then starts to run after me. I could hear his footsteps. he was quite fast. But, with adrenaline, I'm faster.

I ran faster than I have ever run before. Like, if I was in Jurassic Park and was out-running a velociraptor or a T-rex. I could even hear Mal panting behind me. Then, once I got over the same fence, and back into the same neighbourhood I was before, I didn't see him behind me. Then, I feel a few drops of rain. Then, more. Now, it is raining buckets. Great. I guess I got a free shower. I walk through the rain, and I keep looking behind me. No sight of Mal. Good. At least I don't have to worry about a psychopath behind me trying to kill me. Then, I hear a familiar voice. The familiar dark cold voice. I stopped dead in my tracks.

"Hello again. Did you think that you could escape from me?" Mal asks.

"Oh definitely! Absolutely!" I started to run again. I quickly get out my keys from my backpack. I ran across the street when there weren't any cars, and Mal had to wait for a little bit until he could cross too. After waiting, he crossed, and he was hot on my heels. I didn't have a choice, so I quickly opened the door to (antique store), and locked it before he could come in. I ran behind the counter, and ducked so he couldn't see me. I could still hear his voice from behind the glass.

"Come out Y/N! Just come out!" He shouted.

I stayed silent. (Bestie name) told me that they were in town for the next month, so I just had to call them. They live far away, and that's why I text and call them. So, I quickly text them.

When they said they were fast, they were right. After about 15 minutes, them being 30 minutes away in their second home, they actually came in clutch and I saw their car parked right outside. I could hear them talking to Mal... and then something unexpected happened. They hit Mal in the face with their bag! And not just once! They hit him SIX TIMES! They are AWESOME! Then, Mal fell to the ground, and they started knocking on the glass.

"GIRL! GIRL! COME ON LETS GO! UNLOCK THIS DOOR AND I'LL TAKE YOU TO MY PLACE!" They say.

I quickly unlock the door, lock it back again, run inside the car, and I leave Mal stranded there, outside of (antique store).

"Thank you so much (bestie name)." I say. I looked quite relieved.

"No problem! I'll get you comfortable. Get you a drink, your favorite snack, and we'll talk." Then they turned up the radio, where a (singer) song started to play.

"Your favorite singer!" (Bestie name) exclaims.

"Oh my god yes, you're right! You remembered my favorite song!" I say.

"Yes, of course! How could I forget!" They then turn it up louder, and we ended up starting a whole karaoke time in the car.

After the singing and driving, we finally got to their house. They told me to get comfortable in the guest room, and so I did. Before I did, I took off my shoes, then ran inside and took off my gross wet clothes. I hung them on a chair, and i laid on my bed, and took out my phone. Then, I saw that I got a recent text.

Mike_01: You may think you're smart, but trust me... you're not. I'll find you once again, Y/N. And when I do... well, I don't want to spoil the surprise.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Well,  I guess I won't be worrying about finding a new job after all. Now, I got a new problem.
Mal.
