[29]

---

I finally awoke to a dimly lit room. Across from me stood a man that I recognised from Charlie's missing posters. Riley Biers.

"What?" I stuttered.

"She told me to wait but I couldn't resist. A mate for what you wanted least," he muttered.

"What are you-"

"You become a vampire," he answered.

"What? No, no, no, no-" I began crawling backwards away from him.

There was nothing and then suddenly a pain. A feeling of fire spread through me. I wanted to scream but I couldn't. There was only silence.

I awoke to a forest. It felt like I had been unconscious for years. I blinked rapidly, glancing around me. Everything was clearer, more detailed.

How was that possible?

Unless.

No, it couldn't be.

I wanted to cry.

I couldn't.

Instead, I began walking in a random direction, hoping, praying, I would come across someone to help me.

Eventually, I heard voices. I'd been dumped a little way away from where I had been taken. I began to run towards where I heard them.

I arrived at the clearing to the Cullen's house. I rushed to the door.

I was too fast.

I knocked on the door.

"Sky?" Rosalie questioned, now standing right in front of me.

"No, I'm Jesus," I quipped, despite the whirlwind of emotions I felt.

"Someone turned you," she hissed, noticing my appearance. "Come in."

"Sky," Jasper exclaimed, rushing towards me. He grabbed my arms, taking in my appearance, "Sky..."

"Apparently Victoria wanted revenge, the absolute bitch," I muttered.

"So she turned you?" Rosalie questioned, the rest of the family having crowded round.

"Well, not her, someone else," I explained. "If I could have a panic attack I would."

"Who?" Jasper asked.

"Riley Biers, he's her puppet or whatever."

"Have you-" Edward began.

"Eaten, no? Seen Bella, no? I literally woke up in the forest and here I am," I told. "And my throat kinda burns and I want to cry but I can't."

"Sky-"

"I didn't want this and I know that was selfish of me to not want it when I gave you a second chance but I'm freaking the fuck out."

"Let's get you fed," Jasper spoke up, leading me out of the house.

He began explaining everything to me about feeding and being a vampire. He then told me I couldn't see Charlie.

"I think the fuck not," I exclaimed, stopping in my place. "I'm going to see Charlie and if you think I would ever hurt him you're wrong."

"You don't know that," he reasoned.

"The idea of hurting someone makes me feel physically sick, Jasper," I revealed.

"I know," he whispered hugging me.

---

We finished hunting and he took me back to their house to change into some clothes from Rosalie's wardrobe.

Once I was changed I was lead downstairs by Jasper. I made my way into their living room to see Bella.

"Sky," she exclaimed. She went to move forward but Edward held her back.

"I won't hurt her, Edward," I seethed.

"You-"

"Don't know that? Yes, I do. She doesn't even smell that nice. Which is kind of a dig at me actually because she's wearing my perfume," I rambled. "So, Edward, move the fuck out of the way and let me see Bella."

His face changed from the glare he held prior to a completely blank look.

"Okay," he replied in a monotone. He moved to the side.

"Great," I exclaimed, moving to Bella and hugging her.

"I think we just figured out what your gift is," Carlisle voiced. I stopped where I was, letting go of Bella and turning to him.

"What?" I questioned.

"Tell Edward to do something else," Esme instructed. I frowned.

"Edward, slap yourself in the face," I ordered. He did.

"Mental manipulation," Alice told. "I saw it when I met her. I didn't want to say anything until I was sure."

"Is everyone going to ignore that the first thing Sky did when she realised she could get people to do what she said was to get Edward to slap himself?" Emmett questioned.

"Revenge, bitch," I quipped. "I absolutely hate all of this but suck my dick, Edward."

"Skylar!" Esme scolded.

"Sorry, Esme," I muttered.

"You have to come home," Bella spoke up, moving towards me. "Charlie still thinks your missing," she informed. "You've been missing for a week."

I nodded, processing everything.

"Jasper?" I whispered. "What do you think?"

He thought for a second before speaking.

"I think you should go," he admitted. "I can climb through your window and help you if I need to but so far your restraint is something I've never seen before."

"What do I tell him? Hey, I got kidnapped, basically killed and turned into a vampire, surprise, anyway, what's for dinner?"

"How about that they let you go but you don't know why or where you were or who they were?" Emmett suggested.

"Bit suspicious but I won't come up with anything better," I replied. "What about my eyes?"

"We'll get you contacts," Alice offered.

---

An hour later and I was ready to see Charlie. Bella was driving me home, with Edward and Jasper following us to make sure I didn't lose control. We were going to say that Bella found me in the forest when she went for a hike with Edward and took me back to the Cullens to get myself clean and a change of clothes as we weren't too far from theirs.

I took a deep breath, knocking on the door.

"One second," a voice yelled.

"You'll be fine," Bella reassured.

The door opened.

"Sky," he gasped, throwing himself forward, pulling me into a hug. "Are you okay? What happened? Who was it?"

"I'm fine, I don't know, and I don't remember," I answered. I held my breath. Just in case.

He pulled away. I could see he was close to crying and I felt a wave of guilt for whatever reason. It wasn't my fault but I felt like it was.

"How? How are you here?"

"Can we go inside?" I asked.

"Yeah, yeah," he muttered, letting me in. I went straight to the living room and sat down.

"I don't remember much of it. I remember that it happened at the party but everything else after that is blank," I explained.

He spent the next half an hour asking me questions and saying how grateful he was that I was back.

"You're going to have to go down to the station to explain this all," Dad explained.

"I figured as much," I whispered.

"Sky-" he cut himself off.

"What?"

"You look different," he voiced.

"I know," I responded.
