Y/n pov:

I knew that today I would be questioned by Bora and Aera on where I was that day but I didn't care. I made a new friend, and that's what made me happy.

"Y/n! Where were you yesterday?!" Bora asked.

"Yeah we, like, literally looked for you everywhere!" Aera exclaimed.

"Sorry! I got lost, this college is hard to find my way around" I apologized.

"Whatever, let's go to our class Bora!" Aera said, grabbing Bora by the arm and walking the opposite way.

I walked into my classroom, and sat next to Sunoo. He turned around and smiled at me, I returned the smile of course, before we started chatting a bit.

"What skincare do you use?! That skin is glowing!" I exclaimed, staring at his glowing skin in awe.

"I don't know, I stole it from my sister! She doesn't know though, if she found out she would be furious with me. It works better on me anyway!" He rolled his eyes sassily making me laugh a bit.

Soon, the class started and we were studying and taking notes. I couldn't help but daydream at certain moments, this class was just so boring! I wish something exciting could happen. Finally, it was time for lunch. We packed all of our stuff and headed towards the door. Sunoo headed outside, probably to sit at that awful bench again.

I was dragged by Bora to sit with her, Aera, and those ugly basketball boys who thought all the girls liked them. I was wearing a different outfit today, I liked the look of it so I wore it. However, one of those basketball boys noticed, and it was so embarrassing.

~(This is what you're wearing btw)~

"Y/n, is that your name? I think that outfit is just really over the top for school, you look like you're trying too hard to dress differently from everyone else!" I don't even know his name, he somehow knows mine. Anyway, who did he think he was telling me how I could dress?

"Excuse me? I'll dress how I want, and there's no such thing as 'trying too hard to dress differently from everyone else'! If you have a problem with my outfit then suck it up or don't look at me at all!" I yelled, getting up. There was absolutely NO way I'm hanging out with these boys.

I took my bag, mumbling a few offensive things towards the guy and left. I found my way outside, where Sunoo usually sat. I had a small towel, some water and some soap, hopefully this was enough to clean it off. I walked outside and saw him staring and his empty lunchbox again. Why does he just stare at it when he's done? It was a bit creepy. I brushed the thought off, walking over to him.

"Oh, hey Y/n!" He smiled, putting his lunchbox away.

"Hey! Was your lunch good?" I asked. His facial expression changed a bit to a sadder one. He still smiled, but something seemed off, like a fake smile.

"It was... it was really good!" He still smiled, a somewhat fake smile but I wasn't bothered too much about it.

"Anyway, can you take care of my stuff while I go to the bathroom?" He asked, to which I nodded.

He smiled at me and left to go to the bathroom, leaving his stuff next to the bench. I started to grab my wet towel and cleaned it off. It took about a minute, since I was scrubbing so hard. Some stains were still there but the words weren't visible anymore, and that's all I cared about. I moved my arm to put the towel and soap away, accidentally knocking over Sunoo's open bag. His stuff fell out, which was barely anything. His lunchbox and small plastic water bottle fell out. I went to pick up his lunchbox, which had opened in the process of falling out, leaving a note on the floor. I picked it up and saw the writing on it, "Sorry for the empty lunchbox again, I promise I will try to save up to buy some food for our parents to put in here in no time! Sorry you have to basically starve all the time, I'll try my best :) - love, the best sister in the world"

My eyes widened, did his family not have enough money to get him food for lunch? Is that why he always stared at his empty lunchbox? I snapped into reality, and realised this was probably invasive to his privacy, and started to put the note back in.

"Y/n! What are you doing?!" Sunoo yelled, running to me.

"Oh, it's not- it's not what it looks like, I'm not going through anything I promise!" I was startled by him, dropping his lunchbox on the floor.

Sunoo ran to get it, "great, it's broken.."

"I'm so sorry! I can try to fix it if you want..?" I said, trying to offer to help.

"No!" He yelled turning to look at me, glaring.

I flinched at the sudden yelling, making his glare soften to a calm gaze.

"I mean, no it's fine.. maybe you should go..? I mean, because class is starting soon! You don't wanna be late..." he tried to smile like he usually did, but he definitely didn't look happy.

I nodded, grabbing my stuff and I left. I was walking to class, I didn't even know where it was because I don't know where anything here is, when I realised that I left the stuff I used to clean the bench outside. I sighed in frustration at the fact I had to run all the back. I ran back, and saw Sunoo still sat there, looking miserable. I felt terrible for breaking his lunchbox and probably making him think I was trying to look through his stuff and invading his privacy. He looked at me grabbing my stuff.

"Sorry," I chuckled awkwardly before continuing, "just grabbing this cleaning stuff I used for the bench" I smiled and walked away again, finding my way to class.

After the day ended, I walked home, stopping at a shop to get some stuff my grandma asked me to get. I went to get some eggs, since we ran out, before I went to pay. When I went to get some, I bumped into someone.

"Sorry- Heeseung?!" I glared at him.

"Oh, didn't think I'd see you here" He said.

"I thought you were in America?! What are you doing here?!" I asked, shoving the eggs inside my basket.

"Well, I came to get some chocolates for you and grandma since I just got here." He replied, putting the chocolates in my basket.

"Give that to me" he grabbed the basket, before continuing, "I'll pay for all this"

We went to the till and he payed, before walking outside.

"I'm gonna stay with you and your grandma for a bit, then I'll get my own apartment. Don't worry, I won't be living with you for long"

I was so mad, why was he here? What was he doing here out of all places when he had gotten into a great college in America and was graduating college soon?

"Uh, don't you have a college to attend?" I asked.

"Well, I got kicked out." He replied.

"Kicked out?! How?" I was shocked, how would he get kicked out?!

"No, I got kicked out of my house! My college decided to give me online courses instead, so I can still graduate" he said. I felt kinda bad for being rude to him, I mean his own mother kicked him out.

"Why did you get kicked out?" I asked him.

"Because I didn't want to be a doctor or a lawyer" he responded.

"What?! I don't want to be a doctor or lawyer but I don't get kicked out! That's just cruel..." I paused before continuing, "I'm sorry I was rude earlier, you even payed for this stuff! I feel bad now!"

"No need to feel bad, I am kind of a jerk bragging about how good I do. I was just kinda raised to do that I guess? It's so normalised for me, you went through much worse than I did. And most of it was my fault, if anything, I should be sorry" His apology seemed sincere, like he's been wanting to say this for years.

"Yeah, you even saw me get yelled at. It doesn't matter, I'm fine now... even though everyone thinks I still have contacts with my father" I admitted.

"Really? I thought that died out" he said as we got to my house.

"It did, but my 'friends' still think it's true. I haven't found a chance to tell them. Whatever, they don't really care anyway" I shrugged as I opened the door.

After that talk, me and Heeseung got on surprisingly well. We actually had quite a lot in common, which was definitely surprising. His mother was super strict about his grades and what job he was supposed to get, which is why he got kicked out. I guess throughout my childhood, and now, I thought he was a spoiled brat who couldn't get enough of himself. Turns out, it wasn't like that. He did care about me and Eunji, contrary to our belief, and he often felt guilty for being the main cause me and Eunji got yelled at for. At least now I could try to get along with him.
