Hours later, Christina parks in front of a hotel. "You've been quiet for hours. What's wrong?", Christina asked. "I'm ready to lay down. I feel light headed", Ruby says. "Look, I just work here. This is a whites only hotel. You can speak to the manager", the employees says. "That would be great", Christina says. "We don't have to do this", Ruby whispers to Christina. "No, we're staying here. You need to eat as soon as possible and it's getting late", Christina whispers back to Ruby. Christina looks at the employee. "We want to see the manager", Christina says. "Follow me", the employee says and walks. Christina follows the employee along with Ruby.

Christina, Ruby, and the employee enters the manager's office. The manager turns his chair around and sees them. "Welcome. How can I help you?", the manager asked. "This is a whites only hotel, correct?", Christina asked. "Yes", the manager responds and looks at Ruby. "Oh, I see. Well, rest assured. This hotel is open to anyone, even negroes", The manager says. Christina looks at Ruby. "But sir, the sign says-", the employee starts to say but the manager interrupts her. "I know what it says. But I'm going to let this one slide. Enjoy your stay here", the manager says.

"Thank you", Christina says and leaves the office with Ruby. Ruby and Christina goes to the dinner area and sits. Ruby stares at Christina and Christina notices. "What?", Christina asked. Christina opens the hotel room door for Ruby and Ruby walks in. Christina follows and closes the door. Ruby sits on the edge of the bed and sighs quietly.
