Chapter 7

I awoke the next morning in a cold sweat, my fists clenching the bedsheets. I immediately rolled onto my stomach and looked under my bed, expecting to see Pennywise smiling back at me from underneath, but the only things there were a bag of chips and a few books. I got to my feet and peered into the closet, just to be safe. Nothing besides clothes and shoes. I exhaled slowly and ran a hand through my hair. Coming home from the movie yesterday was rough. I couldn't stop thinking about it, let alone hide my freaked out nature from Dean and Dad. I threw on the most casual clothes I had and made my way to the kitchen. A pink slip of paper on the refrigerator door instantly caught my attention. I grabbed a poptart before stepping closer to see it. On a hunt, be back later tonight- Dean + Dad, it read.

This doesn't happen very often, I thought as I ripped at the tin foil and plopped the poptarts into the toaster. My brother and father considered themselves "retired hunters", but whenever a friend called them in, that was considered urgent enough to where they had to go. At times it was fun to have the place to myself, others it was such a drag being home alone. In this case, it would come in handy since Gabe was coming over.

The pop! of the toasted poptarts made me jump. I pulled out a plate and put the food onto it, singeing my fingers in the process. I sat down at the dining table and bit into the first pastry. All was peaceful until my phone started ringing, causing me to fall out of my chair. I sat up and swallowed the chunk of food, regaining my breath.

"God, will I be able to do anything today?!" I muttered, getting up from the floor. I walked over to the counter and grabbed my phone, not bothering to check the caller ID. I was pretty sure it was Gabe anyway.

"Hello?" I answered as nonchalantly as I could.

"Heya, Samsquatch! How've ya been?" Gabe's cheery voice asked.

"Oh, just peachy. I woke up five times last night and could barely go back to sleep. I'm so tired I could doze on a bed of nails," I responded, just now realizing how tired I really was.

"Listen, Sam. I truly am sorry for putting you through that emotional trauma. Today I will make it all up to you," Gabe said, emphasizing the word 'all'. "Man, I really hope your family doesn't get in the way, no offense."

"None taken. Also, both Dean and my dad are away on a hunt," I pointed out.

"Oh, cool! So, when can I come over?" He asked.

"Whenever you want. I'm just chilling and eating breakfast," I admitted.

"Alright, I'll see you soon then, my lovely Samsquatch." Gabe said before hanging up. I put down my phone and went back to the table to finish my breakfast.

Half an hour later...

I was sitting on the couch, my favorite book in hand, when the front doorbell let out a ring. I put my novel down and sauntered over to the door. It opened with a click, and Gabe's smiling face greeted me from the other side. He was carrying a paper bag.

"Hey, Samsquatch! You ready for this epic make-up date?!" Gabe exclaimed, letting himself in. He placed his bag on the floor and looked around as I closed the door.

"Yeah, but what's in that?" I asked, pointing at the bag. When Gabe didn't answer, I leaned over to take a look. Piles and piles of various types of candy sat inside. I crossed my arms.

"Why am I not surprised?" I said with a chuckle.

"Damn, you've got a nice place here, Samsquatch," Gabe commented, turning to face me. "What should we do first? I'll leave it to you since I fucked up our first date. I tapped my chin with my finger, eyes darting around the room.

"You like video games?" I asked. Gabe threw back his head and laughed.

"What kind of question is that? Of course, you nerd!" I chuckled and went to the living room, Gabe right behind me. I kneeled down in front of the TV and pressed the Xbox's power button. I pulled out two controllers and threw one to Gabe, who was already munching on the candy.

"Go easy on the candy, ok? I don't want you going home early," I joked, plopping down next to him on the couch. "What kind of games are you in to?"

"You have any zombie killing games?" Gabe asked while sucking on a lollipop. I handed him the stack of games on the counter. He sifted through them for a bit before pulling out Evil Dead 2 and looking to me.

"Hey, as long as there's no clowns, I'm cool," I told him. Gabe hopped off the couch and put the disc into the Xbox. Before I knew it, he was on the couch again with his right arm around me. I cuddled closer to him as the title screen popped up. I hit 'play' and we were instantly dropped into a pixelated forest.

"Hey, how come you're first player?" Gabe whined.

"My house, my rules. Come on, you noob, help me find some weapons," I said as my thumb moved with my character. Gabe frowned and made his character go in the opposite direction.

"Hey, look at this creepy shed!" I exclaimed as a small, rotting shed came into view. Gabe kept silent as I held down the X button to open it. All of a sudden, a zombie burst through the door, causing me to jump. My character ran as my eyes scanned the screen, searching for a weapon. Then, Gabe's character rushed in wielding an ax, and the zombie degraded into a mass of writhing flesh.

"Who's the noob now?" Gabe said, a sly smirk creeping onto his face. I smiled and looked at him.

"Guess I underestimated your powers."

"I think I overestimated your powers. Never go into creepy, foreboding places!"

"Look, I haven't played this game in a while, ok?"

"Psh! That's no excuse, you noob! Cmon, let's do some real playing." Gabe fidgeted his thumb as his character ran off. I rolled my eyes and followed him.

A few hours later...

I set down my controller as Gabe dug into his 5th bag of candy. I looked behind the couch to see that it was almost 4:00 pm. We had been gaming for over 3 hours.

"You know what? I think I killed more zombies than you," he pointed out through a mouthful of sour patch kids.

"Yeah, yeah, keep telling yourself that," I said as I turned off the TV. "What should we do now?" Gabe shrugged and continued munching on his sweets. We sat in slightly awkward silence. After a few minutes, I felt Gabe's hand on my thigh, which then moved to my leg and knee. I looked over at him and was met with a sly smile. Before I knew it, Gabe had rolled on top of me, his arms resting on my shoulders.

"Look, I'm gonna have to leave for dinner soon, so why don't we just cut to the chase," he said, staring deeply into my eyes. I answered by grabbing his face in my hands, our lips smashing together. Gabe hungrily kissed back and wrapped his arms around my neck, but I, never being good at holding my breath, had to pull away for air. While I was regaining my breath, Gabe immediately moved down to my neck and began nibbling on it. I closed my eyes and let out a small moan.

"Alright, alright, don't give me too many hickies," I joked. The nibbling eventually subsided into small kisses, but kept going. Before I knew it, my shirt was being pulled off, and the Gabe moved down my chest. I held onto his shoulders and let it happen a little while longer before rolling over to where I was dominating.

"Ugh, you're crushing me!" Gabe whined. I rolled my eyes and silenced him with another kiss, our tongues moving in perfect harmony with one another. We closed our eyes and Gabe's hands ran through my hair. I was determined to hold onto this one for longer, but knocking at the door caused me to pull away.

"Shit, that's Michael," Gabe cursed before looking at me. I looked back down at him, and he chuckled. "Put a shirt on, you sexy beast."

"Don't worry, the blinds are closed. Michael couldn't have seen that unless he has laser vision," I joked while pulling my shirt over my head. Gabe hopped off the couch and threw all his empty candy wrappers into the paper bag. He slipped his shoes on and stood for a moment, probably trying to figure out if he had everything. Suddenly, I saw something in him click, and he rushed over to me, his hands going to my shoulders.

"Ok, Samsquatch, I know this is only our second date...scratch that, our first non-catastrophic date, but will you be my boyfriend?" Gabe asked, his brilliant golden eyes piercing into mine. I stood in shock for a second, but knew I didn't have to think it over.

"I thought you'd never ask," I responded with a smile. We leaned in to kiss, but were halted by more knocking.

"C'mon, Gabriel! You've got school tomorrow!" Michael said from outside. Gabe sighed and gave me a small peck on the cheek before gathering his things and heading to the door. With his hand on the knob, he turned to face me one last time.

"See you tomorrow?" He asked with a crooked smile.

"See you tomorrow," I responded. Gabe opened the door with a click and disappeared into the cool afternoon breeze.

A/n: hello, my little balloons! Sorry if the chapter was boring and if that smut-ish scene was cringey (because it was). I hope you enjoyed it nonetheless, and bye for now!!!❤️❤️❤️
