"You are stuck with me till the world falls to pieces, and if we're not still standing even then we'll still find a way to be together..."
― Ottilie Weber, End of the Line

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Since my friends were bull heads and loved me too much, they insisted on joining us on the trip to see my aunt. I'm pretty sure Lazarus had an apoplexy when he saw that Derek, Jet and Gin were joining us. This meant that he had to take more than one car because some of his men were obviously coming too and he hadn't equated this into his plan. I almost laughed when he realized that he had to change plans to accommodate other people and he looked like he was in physical pain.

Gin, Derek, Jet, Kiel and I were standing outside on sand wondering where the eff the cars were and how we were going to be able to get to where my dad's sister was. Derek startled for a second next to me and looked at Kiel. I looked at Kiel too and Kiel's face was blank. Like a slate. And obviously, immediately I was curious. And suspicious. But mostly curious.

Gin nudged me and I looked at her. She gave me a sympathetic smile and asked, "How are you doing?"

I shrugged, "Not too bad." Lie.

My best friend saw right through it. I saw it in the tightening of her lips and the narrowing of her eyes. But she didn't push. How did I end up with understanding people?

"You?" I asked.

She shrugged. "Will is a douche."

No true words had ever been spoken before.

"And I deserve better," she said and for a second her eyes flitted to behind me. I stilled. There was only person behind me her eyes could've flitted to.

And that was Jet.

Mother. Effer.

How had I missed that?

My jaw dropped open and I stared at her, she met my eyes defiantly, like she thought I would say something about her preference.

"Hey if you think I'm going to judge, I'd like to point out," I mouthed the rest, "that my mate is a Vamp."

She looked down, her teeth worrying her lip and I felt like I needed to reassure her more. When I opened my mouth to tell her just how much I didn't care, Lazarus started to walk up to us. Behind him were three larger Vamps.

One was blonde, the other was a red head and the third had purple hair. I liked him already.

Lazarus introduced the blonde as Hill, the Vamp who could trace people with blood and a picture, the red head as Greg and the Vamp rocking the purple hair-do as Dex.

"Thank you, Dex," I said immediately, then added in case he didn't get it, "For the energy boost."

"Pleasure, Princess." He said, his canines flashing as he smiled at me.

Princess? Was he making fun of me?

Oh..wait.

You are their princess. Kiel said.

Yes, thanks Einstein. I said, sliding him a duh look.

My father was their damn King and I was his daughter. So that made me...

What am I to you? I asked Kiel, looking at him coyly.

His eyes heated and glowed: You're my Queen.

I felt like it too, when he looked at me like that.

"I don't ever want to know what you just told each other." Lazarus said, rubbing a hand down his face like he wished he could un-see that.

I laughed and he looked at me and a small smile lit his lips. My own smile was small and unsure.

Derek cleared his voice, "So how in the name of minions are we getting to her aunt's place?"

Lazarus smirked, "Well originally we were planning on going in cars, and then we wondered how you got here.."

Derek frowned, "Well, Kiel had Kiera's location, so he had Leo teleport him here and come to get us if shit hit the fan. When we didn't hear from me, we decided to come anyway."

It took me three seconds to realize who Leo was. I still had to get used to this.

"And how does Leo's teleporting work?" Lazarus asked, still smirking.

Jet answered, "Well a picture in my head is perfect, but an address works too."

Lazarus grinned pulling out his phone. Wow, a phone. Been awhile since I'd seen one of those. Lazarus handed Leo a picture. I leaned forward to look at it just like all my other friends did.

It was a picture of a dark haired woman with light brown eyes standing with a bunch of children in front of a large ass iron gate. Next to the gate a small name plate read Children's Manor.

What...?

Jet nodded his head and handed the phone to Lazarus. Lazarus recited the address to Jet, just in case. Jet then instructed all of them to hold on to him and ignore the uncomfortable feeling that they would feel for a few minutes. That immediately had them stilling and their eyes glowing.

Easy, tiger.

I knew how hard it was for Lazarus to be trusting someone else like this and I knew that the main reason he trusted Jet was because Jet was my friend. So, I decided to ease his mind a little.

"Guys, it's okay, you'll barely feel anything." I said, throwing them what I hoped was a reassuring smile.

They nodded and Jet closed his eyes. Lazarus, Hill, Dex and Greg imitated Derek, Kiel, Gin and me as we placed our hands on his shoulder. A familiar feeling of being crushed over took me. But it lasted only for a few seconds. I opened my eyes when I felt the pressure ease off my chest. I dragged in a few deep breaths to steady myself because the teleportation was never fun for me. I looked at Gin and her face was a little pale, but she seemed otherwise okay. We nodded at each other in acknowledgement that we were okay.

Lazarus and his men seemed okay too, even though they were scowling a little.

Kiel came to stand beside me, the back of his hand brushing my own. His unique smell of cinnamon and spice sent a thrill through me and I looked up at him. He met my eyes with a serious expression of his own. Letting out a breath, I straightened and stepped towards the large gate and pushed it open.

When we stepped inside and I stared at the large white mansion that stood proudly a few metres away from where I stood. In front of it and to my left, was a large garden and in the middle of that garden was a beautiful waterfall with swans in them.

The eff was this place?

The large door to the mansion opened and a slender woman, only a little taller than me, with bobbed dark hair, light brown eyes and a sharp nose, dressed in a white blouse and a black long skirt walked towards us with the air of confidence a person possessed when they were going to kick someone's ass.

Lazarus came to stand to my left and Kiel to my right.

Kiel's hand wrapped securely around mine and I slid my fingers through his.

Clearly, this woman was my aunt. Though I really couldn't see the resemblance between Lazarus and his sister, they did share the same hair colour and looked like they could cut you down with a look.

She stopped before her brother and her eyes narrowed.

"What are you doing here?" she asked, her eyes distrustful and her lips pursed.

Lazarus snorted out a laugh, "Yes, I missed you too."

When my aunt noticed me, her eyes widened a little and she stepped towards me. I saw Kiel tense and I rubbed my thumb across the back of his hand, hoping to ease him.

"You look so much like her." My aunt said.

Yeah, I've heard. I thought, dryly.

"Sophie, this is my daughter," Lazarus said, his hand lifting to press to my shoulder for a second before dropping, "And she needs your help."

My aunt immediately straightened, "Come in."

She walked us into the mansion and I felt like I'd stepped into The Sound of Music. She had us climb a large staircase and we followed him.

I heard Kiel's head tilt a little to the right and he looked in the direction opposite from where we're going.

Kiel, Derek and Jet shared a WTF look and Gin and I shared a what's going on look.

Stupid Vamp hearing.

There are children here. And elderly people. Normals. All of them. Kiel said.

I raised my eyebrows. Us peeps don't usually gel with Normals. Mainly because they were scared as shit of us and we didn't have the time to tell them we didn't care enough to hurt them and we had no reason to either. They posed no threat to us that we feared. We usually left each other alone as long as we don't interfere in each other issues. Or create any issues, for that matter.

My aunt ushered us into a round room that had sofas pushed to the corner, a love seat and a large smart TV. At least that's what the TV said.

Derek immediately plopped himself on the love seat and Gin couched next to him. The rest of us retired to the sofas. I leaned back, my eyes aching and wishing they were asleep. A yawn slipped free and Kiel turned to me and looked at me seriously.

Don't go to sleep, sweetheart.

I gave him a half-hearted salute. Sir, yes, sir! I said.

He gave me a wry grin, but he watched me like a hawk.

Then my father started explaining why we were here. Half way through that, three children rushed into the room, hugging my aunt's legs. Lazarus stopped speaking and all of us stared.

"Sofeeee!" they giggled.

My aunt gave them a gentle smile and whispered something to them. They pouted at first and she said something again, and they nodded eagerly and ushered themselves out of the room.

Lazarus cleared his throat, "So, basically. She can astral travel and we need you to manipulate her power."

I leaned forward, my eyebrows raised, "Say what?" I asked.

Lazarus opened his mouth to speak but my aunt intervened, as she dragged a small stool towards me and placed it in front of me.

"I am a Curer." She said.

Kiel stiffened and then straightened, leaning forward, his forearms resting on his thigh, his eyes trained on my aunt.

Clearly, that word meant something to him.

"Cool," I said.

Translation: I have no idea what in the hell you just said.

She gave me a tight grin as if she knew what I was thinking.

"I can reduce the intensity of, or if the power isn't too strong, banish a person of their powers."

Shut. Up. I thought.

"Wait, that's what you're going to do to me?" I asked.

She shook her head, "No one can ever tell how a person will react to a Curer until they do."

Lazarus cleared his throat, "It won't enhance you power in anyway though." He said.

Yeah, 'cos that's the last thing I need.

She lifted her hands and held them out. I stared at them stupidly before realizing what she wanted. I placed my hands in her and she smiled at me. Nothing like how she'd smiled when she saw the kids, but it was something.

Her cool hands curled around mine and she took a deep breath and closed her eyes. I closed mine too, because I felt something stirring deep within me.

I felt a rush of heat through my body, like a fever. Then something started to build up inside me. My fingertips cackled, and I could hear my heart beat at my head. I felt people talking, or were they shouting? I couldn't tell, because I couldn't hear over the sound of my ears ringing.

Something pushed its way out of me and a gasp slipped past my lips in surprise and pain. When I whipped my eyes open, I was standing and my aunt was thrown across the room, the wall behind her cracked on impact.

A pounding migraine started up my head and looked around me. I noticed that everyone was restrained to the walls and the only one who was able to get his way to me was Kiel. He broke through whatever was holding him back and walked to me.

Suddenly, my vision turned bleary and then cleared. Everything around me was in blurred colours. But Kiel...Oh my God. Kiel looked like an angel. Pure white light stretched around him, bathing him in a beauty that had you wanting to close your eyes even while wanting to watch. I walked towards him.

He was saying something. I strained my ears to listen.

"She projecting!" he said.

What..?

Then I noticed that though he was walking to me, he was looking through me. Then, he walked through me. Drawing in a sharp breath, shocked, I turned to look where he was going.

My eyes widened. I was in the middle of the room, few feet off the ground. My hair whipping back in a terrible wind that no one could hear or feel. My head was tilted back and my mouth was slightly open. My hands were spread. I looked...almost dead.

I rushed back to my...body? I reached out to touch my hand, hoping to get back into my body.

My fingers passed through the fingers on my body.

I waited.

Nothing happened.

Oh shit.

I didn't know how to get back into my body. The last few times I did it, I had done it unconsciously and I didn't know what I had done.

I was stuck.
