Chapter 46- Forged Connection (part 1)

A/N: Hello everyone we're four chapters away from the 50th Chapter! Yay! So, in light of this achievement from an idea I got from a fan, I'll be doing a Q and A, and some of you have already started asking questions. It will be posted after the 50th chapter of the story.

You may direct your questions to me as the Author, Black Diamond, Moonstone, or a future character that will be revealed in chapter 50. (Sorry no Spoilers to their identity)

Please send in your questions via private message or the comment bubble of the section before each chapter at any time (Including the 50th Chapter upon the reveal of the new character). When you send me your questions please write either at the bottom or the top who the question is directed to.

Please send questions even if you think it's a silly question it might have a concrete answer. I would be so happy if I at least got five questions. Also upon making this statement please keep your questions appropriate and if it's of a more adventurous category please send it privately, and I will answer you personally (or not at all). The age range for this story is pretty big and I would like for everyone to be able to read the questions and responses.

I will be doing art for the Q and A, so please send in your questions as soon as possible and my favorites will have art in response to them. (The new character may be an exception to this rule)

Thanks for staying with me this long! :)

Black's Pov

"Garnet..." I whispered slowly opening my eyes. "You're finally awake?" A rough voice said. I looked up seeing an orange blur of colors. As I continued blinking everything started to come into focus. "Jasper?" I sat up looking at the quartz soldier. Her narrowed judging eyes challenging my own.

We stared at each other neither of us looking away for different reasons. I knew if I looked away it was a sign of weakness and it would weaken my authority over her in her eyes, and if I had to guess Jasper was looking for something that told her I was still a Diamond. Considering the state I'm in I wouldn't blame her for being skeptical of me.

There was a silence between us until Jasper started laughing. I frowned confused by her sudden outburst. "You haven't lost yourself in this worthless planet." She said, spitting out the word planet as if it were poison. "I see." I commented shortly. I didn't know what to say Jasper and I weren't close. She was a quartz soldier created to fight and take order, and I was an ex-patriarch of Homeworld.

I don't think I can handle her...not like this. I'm not ready. Garnet...I....I'm not ready. "Thank you." I looked up, thrown off by what she said. "What?" I asked not sure if I heard her correctly. "Thank you, for helping after Malachite. I'm not sure what happened after we unfused, but I know that you helped me." She repeated. Her hands clenched into a tight fist and her face showing nothing but disappointment.

She was upset with herself. "It's okay to show weakness." I reassured her. She shrugged my hand off her shoulder turning to face me. "No. I am a quartz soldier. I am not supposed to be weak. I am to serve the Diamonds with every fiber of my being and more. Weakness is a sign of defectiveness." Jasper answered. Her eyes held a burning passion, and that made me feel guilty.

She believed everything that she said, that much was clear to him. All of the mindless traits and beliefs given to her. I let my sisters get this far. I could have stopped it. I should have ch- "Well I still think you're useful with weaknesses." I started, interrupting by wandering thoughts. She looked at me with confusion and uncertainty. "If there's one thing on Earth that I've learned that always holds true. It would be that Earth changes gems, whether it be good or bad." I confessed.

She had a thoughtful expression on her face for just a second before she returned to her neutral state. "Gems aren't meant to change! We are made only to serve our predestined purpose for the good of the Diamond Authority! How can you say otherwise!" She yelled. I flinched at her outburst. I felt like a cornered animal.

"That's just it Jasper you've had it all right since the moment you saw me. I am not like them. You might as well call me off color, defective. I don't see everything like the other Diamonds, and yet I still managed to aid them. Things have changed a lot since I was in power." I said swallowing the shakiness that threatened to spill into my words."

3rd Person

Jasper paused she didn't know what to say as she thought about what Black Diamond had just said. He was a Diamond, but as she thought about it she had never seen him before, except for that one day.

__

Pink and Blue had been arguing for hours about Black Diamond. "I won't do anything until I see him!" Pink yelled her face contorted in frustration and anger. Blue sighed in frustration trying not to cave to her demands. "Pink this is for your own good. He is helping to rid you of the Crystal Gems. Pink unnoticeably flinched hearing her say that.

Jasper simply stood waiting for her orders. Her squad was supposed to ambush a Crystal Gem base, but Pink Diamond halted all war advancements until she saw Black Diamond. "Stop being so childish Pink. This is your colony it takes priority over all matters. You must follow your duties before you do something as preposterous as see him." Blue Diamond scolded looking down at Pink Diamond with a harsh glare.

Pink held her stare her cheeks beginning to puff out. Jasper looked between the two wondering what was going to happen. "Pearl." Blue called. The blue Pearl straitened up, "Yes, My Diamond." Blue took a deep breath softening her gaze. "Have the Lapis Lazuli and my Agate escort Black Diamond to Pink Diamond." Blue Diamond commanded. "Yes, My Diamond." Blue Pearl said before leaving the room. "You have 15 minutes then he is to go back at once. You must complete your duties." Blue said. Pink smiled, "Thank you Blue."

Blue Diamond nodded her head before leaving the room. Jasper felt pride in the fact that her Diamond got what she wanted, but she was also curious to see who Black Diamond was. She had heard many different things about him from different logs and the whispers of High class gems as well as his ship docked just behind White Diamond's.

Her Diamond seemed to be rather fond of the gem. From what she was told he had sacrificed himself to aid the war through weapons development and science. Jasper turned to watch her smiling Diamond as he waited for her orders and the mysterious gem.

Suddenly the door opened and a Blue Agate and a group of five Lapis Lazuli's walked into the room. Trailing with them was a tall black gem. After walking into the room, The Diamond sat on the ground a soft expression on his face.

He was nothing like what she had heard and read. Jasper was confused he didn't seem like the ominous executioner that was described in gem history, but that's when she saw it.

Black Diamond reached out to touch Pink Diamond, that was now sitting in front of him. The Agate whipped his hand and a dark expression overcame his features. It sent a shiver down Jasper's spine. His gaze was murderous and dark, challenging the Agate to repeat her actions.

Jasper relished the authority that he held despite his position. The uncomfortable and wary expressions of the Lapis Lazuli and the terrified gaze of Holly Blue Agate. It was entrancing. He was magnificent different than her Diamond in many ways. He held a certain ferocity the Pink Diamond lacked.

"Please leave us." Pink said simply motioning to his escorts. Holly Blue opened her mouth to protest but when she glanced at Black Diamond. She stepped down with a simple bow. "Yes, my Diamond." Was all she said leaving with the Lapis Lazuli trailing behind her. Jasper continued to watch Black Diamond with fascination loving the power in his every move. The deeply apparent authority he held even in bondage.

__

But this wasn't the Diamond she remembered so vividly. Black watched Jasper taking notice of the strange glim in her eyes. It was a creepy type of nostalgia that was very off putting for him. "You were truly magnificent in every way." Jasper whispered.

Black's eyes widened not expecting to hear her say that. "I beg your pardon?" Jasper stood to her feet saluting to the fallen Diamond. "A ruthless warrior that showed mercy to no one. Taking everything that was yours and never looking back. Even in bondage your strength was never questioned by you captors." Jasper stated, admiration in her eyes.

Black Diamond was speechless. It had been a long time since he had heard such praise for his efforts. Jasper knew more about him than most gems, that only feared his presence. She's truly a quartz soldier bred in battle. War is the only thing she knows.

Jasper watched Black Diamond. His expression was neutral and he appeared to be deep in thought, but suddenly everything changed his eyes became gentle and his expression soft. The way he was laid on the ground with his hair draping over his shoulders added to his sudden ethereal appearance.

She didn't know how to react as Black reached out to her. His fingers gently brushed against her face. His gaze looked on her as he gave her a gentle smile, and there it was again. That warm feeling that connected her to him. What's wrong with me? What is this strange feeling? Why does it feel like this-

"It's okay." Jasper heard him whisper. She looked back up at him in confusion. "You don't have to fight." Black continued. She's never stopped fighting. Knowing Yellow she's most likely sent Jasper anywhere and everywhere with no time to herself. Sure Gems developed their own personalities, but it's formed overtime through those moments that they have to breath.

Black sympathized with Jasper. She was clearly affected by the war just like any other gem of Pink's court. It was painful it was personal, and to look at another Diamond and salute to them knowing that they weren't your Diamond had to be the worst feeling in the world. I couldn't imagine how she feels.

But through all this both gems knew that this was the start of something new, and a continuation of something old. They both felt it a deep connection that was suppressed by their individuality, but constantly growing between them little by little.
