Chapter 10: Love in Paradise

Colby

Sam and I are flying to Hawaii for Nate and Alex's wedding. I know the doctor cleared Sam to fly but I'm still worried. He seems to sense my worry because he squeezes my hand.

"Don't worry Colbs. I feel great and the baby is kicking away," he says, moving my hand to feel.

I smile like I do every time I feel the baby kick. I can't believe this is real life. I stare down at the ring on my finger and smile wider.

"There's that smile I love," he says, kissing me.

"I'm sorry I've been so worried," I say.

"Don't be. It's normal, part of being a parent," he says, squeezing my hand again.

"I love you."

"I love you too Colbs."

We arrive in Hawaii and head to our hotel.

Third person- the wedding-

Nate stands under an archway, at the end of an aisle on the beach, waiting for his fiancée to come down the aisle. He looks out at the sea of people, friends and family, there to celebrate their special day. Then the world becomes brighter as the love of his life walks towards him. He lets out a breath he didn't know he was holding. Alex reaches him and takes his hands. The nerves fade away as Nate stares into Alex's eyes. The minister begins to speak and a hush falls over the crowd as the ocean waves cascade behind them.

Alex wipes his eyes and begins to speak:

Nate, since the moment I met you I knew you were the one. I didn't want anyone else. The day you agreed to be my boyfriend was the happiest day of my life, but would quickly be usurped by the day I proposed and today. For today, I get to call you mine for the rest of our lives. Every day with you is wonderful and I can't wait to spend forever with you.

Then it was Nate's turn:

Alex, I never knew I could be so happy but you've shown me what love looks like and I look forward to showing how much you mean to me for the rest of our lives. You're my soulmate, my true love, my knight in shining armor, my world. You make my world brighter. I'm so happy to call you mine.

Then with four final words, they were married.

Time skip

Alex

Nate and I are walking on the beach alone when he stops and turns me towards him.

"Everything okay hubby?"

"I'm so happy. I love you," he says, kissing me.

I kiss him back, smiling into the kiss.

"I love you too."

Sam

Colby and I watch Alex and Nate walking on the beach, blissfully happy and in love.

"I'm so happy for them," I say.

"Me too. That's going to be us soon," Colby says.

"I can't wait," I say.

"I love you, Sammy."

"I love you too Colbs."

"Sammy?"

"Yeah?"

"Let's get married when we get home," he says.

I spit out my drink, "What-t?"

"I've just been thinking, why wait? I want to be your husband. I don't need a big wedding, I just need you. I already got a minister and our friends are decorating our backyard so it's ready to go when we get home. I hope that's okay," he says.

"It's more than okay. Let's do it," I say.

"Let's do what?" Nate asks.

"Colby and I are getting married when we get home. In our backyard," I say.

"What? Oh my god, that's amazing!" Nate and Alex say together. "We'll be there," they say.
