Happy Emotion and Student Council

Nao pov

The next morning I made my way to school stopping at y/n's place to pick her up. She stared at me with her blank e/c. Her hair was damp and a bit of water dripped down her forehead stopping on the tip of her nose. I tap the drop of water off and she stares confused at me.

"Did you take a shower this morning?" I ask trying to match y/n's emotionless tone.

"Yes," she replied. I nod and the two of us continue to walk to school. Takajo joins the two of us at some point.

"Good morning Nao, y/n." he said smiling at the two of us. Yuu is next to come to us. He gives y/n a confused look when she glances at him with her blank eyes. Something inside of me lurches and I begin to fume from the inside out. I step in between y/n and Yuu and half shove Yuu away from me and y/n.

"What are you looking at?" I snap at Yuu.

"I never got her name yesterday," he says. I grumble and turn to y/n letting her introduce herself to him.

"I'm y/n," she says softly giving Yuu her signature blunt and emotionless look. He looked taken aback.

"What's your ability?" he asked. Y/n said nothing then started naming every single emotion that Yuu had been feeling in the last ten minutes.

"Annoyed, confused and as of right now, astonished." she said.

"you're able to read other peoples emotions?" clarified Yuu. y/n nodded.

At the end of class I brought Yuu to the student council room where y/n and Takajo were conversing in intervals of stupidity. me and Yuu happened to walk in when Takajo was asking about the the science behind water floaties.

"So we need to talk about Yuu joining the student council," I say making the room head into hysterics as everyone started to panic. Everyone except for y/n of course. She walked over to me and leaned her head on my shoulder.

"I need sleep," she whispered to me. I smile to myself and pat y/n's head. She leaned into my neck a bit and a spark of happiness rose within my chest. I allowed for everyone to discuss things. If someone asked for my opinion on something I'd give a brief reply and go back to patting y/n's head. She had no way of saying weather or not she enjoyed it but she wasn't pulling away and she hadn't told me to stop.

At the end of the day I left the room without y/n.

"Go back to your room, I have some things to take care of," I tell her. She nods.

"Dread," she says and leaves me alone. A few minutes after y/n left, girls from my class arrived to punch and kick at me. At some point I saw Yuu watching and glared at him.

...

That night when I went to sleep I dreamed of y/n getting harassed by the girls from our class. I woke instantly to find that I had activated my ability and it was making me flash in and out of appearing and disappearing.

I decided to go on a nighttime walk to shake off the dream. While walking I saw y/n sitting by herself on a bench reading something. I walk over to her and tap her shoulder.

"Nao?" the girl questions. sleepy e/c looked at me.

"What are you doing up right now y/n?" I question. Was she doing this last night as well? She was pretty sleepy before. I think to myself. I take a look at the book in her arms.

"Reading," y/n answers. The book title was about emotions and the chapter name was on the emotion of happiness.

"Why are you reading this?" I ask her sitting next to y/n on the bench. She closes the book.

"I want to know what it's like," she says the sentence like it explains everything perfectly.

"You'll feel them when your ability fades," I say to her.

"I don't want to wait for the ability to fade, I feel like I can only half understand people. I know how they feel but I don't understand how they feel." she says rushed. The rushed tone could've fooled most people into thinking she was able to feel at least a bit of emotion. She couldn't, When I first met y/n she only knew of peoples emotions. Now she knows the emotions and can kinda mimic what people do when they feel certain things even if it doesn't match what she is saying at the moment. Sometimes she'll try talking in an angry tone when she's talking about how she likes eating (favorite food).

"I was just reading about happiness and it sounds great, I want to feel it."

"I want to be able to feel all of it."
