Nine.

---------- The Present day

"Triana, Marina and you were close, right?"

Luz took her eyes off the metal table in the interrogation room as she glanced sideways before turning her head to her lawyer. The latter motioned for her to answer. She turned her head again to Cristina before narrowing her lips as she nodded."Yeah, we were friends."

"What kind of friends?" Asked Cristina as she watched each strangely controlled gesture of the little brunette.

Luz gave a weary look on the redhead."The kind who tell each other everything despite the fact that they were in the crossfire of a damn clan war."

"Clan war, you say?" Cristina noted visibly overwhelmed by the imagination and hatred shared by all these adolescents.

She narrowed her lips as she barely started to draw a profile of the victim before looking back at the pretty brunette Santino. Cristina was really in a bad position. Of all these teenagers, she knew the four particularly well. She was familiar with them and had seen them grow over the years. That's why Ivan preferred to stay behind the glass this time.

Luz Santino was his daughter's closest friend and also much like his own daughter.

Luz shrugged as he swallowed before giving Cristina a look."Yeah, clan war. Her brother's group against ours. And then that of scholarship students. Although we had managed to integrate them into our small group. We equalized the numbers. Although we never really needed to be more than one to stand up to them."

"And Marina found herself in the middle." Cristina said still trying to understand the logic of these teenagers."Do you think that one of the two clans could have blamed her for not choosing a side?"

Luz gave an incredulous look at the redhead before speaking with attitude despite herself."Oh, yeah, pretty much everyone. But I doubt there could be more than one murderer, right? We do everything in groups but from there to organize murder parties."

Her lawyer immediately cleared his throat to get her attention."Miss. Santino."

Luz rolled her eyes at the grumpy old man's attitude by her side before turning her eyes back to the inspector. She looked down at the glass of water she had brought in when she entered before taking a sip. She put it back under the watchful eyes of Cristina.

"Let's go back to your friendship with Triana and Marina. You said she told you everything, right?"

"If you want to talk about the fact that she was pregnant then yes, we knew." Luz immediately replied, surprising the redhead.

She absently played with her pen as she realized that she might have just broken through."And how did you feel about it?"

"About what? The pregnancy ? It was completely irresponsible and stupid." Luz immediately replied, shrugging her shoulders."But it was typical of Marina. She was capable of anything for a dick."

"Miss. Santino. Language." Warns her lawyer again letting Luz hold back a sigh.

To be honest, sarcasm, derision and passive-aggressive behavior was the only way she had found to deal with the fact that one of her friends had died. Admittedly, they hadn't really been friends for the past few weeks, but it had to be said that Marina had done some really crappy things.

She had destroyed their little group from the inside. They, the four most welded musketeers of Las Encinas. She had to mix them with her shady little things for them to implode. And now Luz didn't even know where she was in all of this.

Angel and Juan couldn't even face each other anymore.

Luz had taken the side of Juan and Triana, well Triana had never really managed to take sides before. She was not going to start now. Besides, she was sufficiently disturbed by a certain boy from the other camp.

Yeah, you could say their life had taken a turn for the worse in just four short months.

"You seem strangely bitter." Cristina said, trying to break into the character of the brunette so different from the one she had come to know."Could you have felt jealous of Marina?"

Luz immediately left a scoff."Is that a joke? I have never needed sausage in my life. I am a vegetarian."

"What is that supposed to mean?"

Luz immediately rolled her eyes before looking away. This interrogation was useless. Neither she nor any of her friends were involved in the murder of Marina.

At least, she hoped for it.
