Jason Todd x I'm Fine, I Swear

~Imagine Jason almost getting killed and you end up saving him~

>>>

You were on patrol when it happened. Flying aimlessly around from rooftop to rooftop. You landed on top of a building and took a look at the view ahead of you, deciding to sit down you swung your legs over the ledge and watched as the cars drove by down below. That is until you heard a loud explosion come from down the block. As you looked up thick black smoke started filling the air.

You stood up quickly and hit your comms on. "Barb?" Ripping out your grapnel gun you began to run towards the scene.

"Already on it, keep moving I'll find out what happened." She spoke quickly and you could hear her typing fast on her key board. "It says here that there was an explosion but they're not specifying what caused it so far and—oh my god!" You suddenly stopped.

"What? What's wrong?" Your heart felt as if it was going to burst out of your chest.

"Jason was there investigating Penguin! You need to get him out before that building collapses!" You started running as fast as you could to the site.

"I told him he shouldn't be going anywhere by himself! He's so thick headed!" You swung down to the ground and watched as ambulances and cop cars flooded the streets. The amount of people's terrified faces as they stood on the sidelines was enough to get you going.

"Batgirl." Bruce and Damian got there the same time you did.

"Batman, he's inside I have to go I--" Your mind was in such a panic that you couldn't think straight.

You felt him grab you by the shoulders to face him. "That building is going down any minute. I need you to get in and get out as fast as you can. Do you understand me?" He let go of you.

You took a deep breath and nodded your head. "Understood." Quickly heading towards the door you went to grab the handle, and your hand erupted in pain at the instant touch. "Son of a-" ditching the whole "open the door by the handle" method you lifted your foot and instantly kicked it down. Smoke started covering your vision as it drifted outside.

Once inside you quickly ran towards the back of the building and looked in each room that was open. Suddenly you could hear coughing as you moved deeper in. You started to run in the direction you heard it, but had to stop because you couldn't hear the coughing anymore. "Hello?" You started kicking down doors that were closed shut. "Is anyone in here?" You yelled even louder this time.

You kicked down the last door and heard a small voice. "Bat-Batgirl?" You spotted him underneath some dry wall that fell on top of him. You kicked over the rubble that was in the way and dropped to the ground beside him. The first thing you noticed was that his helmet was broken.

"What the hell were you thinking?" You started to lift the wall up a little so he could slide out. "Hurry up, I'm gonna drop this!" You started to cough more rapidly.

He groaned loudly. "I-I can't I'm stuck!" He started to panic.

"Use what strength you have left and rip your foot out!" He lifted himself up a little. "That's it Jay keep going!" He slid out quickly and you instantly dropped the damn thing and quickly helped him up. "We have to go, now!" You threw his arm over your shoulder and started to carry him to the exit.

"I'm such an idiot." His voice was raspy from the smoke.

Shaking your head you sped up the pace. "Stop talking." Everything around the both of you started to crumble. You saw the door ahead and started to walk even faster. "We're almost there!" As you went to walk out the door you tripped over a floor panel that caught your boot. As you fell you dropped Jason too and saw he was outside.

"Batgirl!" He knew you couldn't get up and tried to help, but before he could reach you, you quickly kicked your shoe off and ran out the door and right into his arms. As you both went to run the explosions impact knocked the both of you to the ground once again. "Th-thank you." You moaned as you laid your head on his chest and felt him squeeze you tightly.

Slowly lifting yourself off of him you moved to sit beside him. "You're welcome." You faced forward and watched as the building was turning into nothing but ash.

You saw a hand reach down to you and gradually took it. "Are you alright?" Bruce had a worried look on his face.

"I'm fine." Sure you had dirt all over you, and only had one shoe on, but hey you weren't dead. As for Jason he probably will be after Bruce deals with him.

~Now~

It had been hours since the explosion. All of you were sitting in silence except for Bruce and Jason who were still arguing in the other room.

"Serves him right." You looked up at Tim who was on the computer. "He should have never went by himself he knows that." You rolled your eyes and looked away.

"Jason's not one to work with others Tim, and you know that." Dick glared at him as he sat up and walked towards you. "How are you doing?" You felt him place his hand on your back.

"I'm okay, honestly." You lifted your head up and smiled at him. You glanced towards the door and had enough of their bickering. So you stood up and went to put a stop to it.

"Where are you going?" Tim spun around in his chair to look at you. "It's better to let them work this out by themselves!" He huffed.

"Well guess what? I'm tired of hearing them yell. What happened, happened! There's no changing it." You yelled back.

"Just go." Dick smiled at you.

"Oh brother." You heard Tim mumble under his breath as he buried his face in his hands.

"What was that Drake?" You glared back at him.

"Nothing!" He picked his head up and spun back around in his chair facing away from you.

You moved closer to the door and laid your ear against it. "Why were you even in there Jason? You could've gotten killed!" Bruce sounded beyond angry.

"Well it wouldn't have been the first time!" One thing about Jason was that he wasn't like the rest of you when it came to taking lectures from Bruce. He was the only one who had the guts to go back at him.

You finally had enough and swung open the door. The first thing you saw was Jason sitting on the medical table with bandages wrapped around his ribs and he had small cuts and bruises on his face.

Bruce looked up at you. "If it weren't for (y/n) you would've never gotten out of that building!"

"I would've been fine!" This time you didn't let Bruce talk.

"From where I was standing you were stuck under dry wall that had fallen on top of you! Not to mention you were reckless from the start and went alone!" You glared at him. "Even when you promised me you weren't going to do that anymore." His face was full of guilt.

Bruce sighed deeply. "I'll leave you two." He whispered as he went to walk past you. "Try and talk to him your the only one he listens to." As he walked out you focused your attention back to Jason.

His eyes were now looking down at the floor. "Bruce is right you know? This could've been deadly for you if I hadn't gone in." You shook your head and walked up to the bed.

"How many times do I have to say it? I would've been fine! I would've gotten out! I'm not an idiot!" He stood up and turned over the table full of medical supplies.

"You sure sound like one! So knock it off!" You pushed him back down onto the bed and watched as his mood shifted.

"(Y/n), do you know what its like to have him be so critical of every single thing you do?" He stood up once again and pushed past you roughly.

"What are you doing?" Quickly you grabbed his arm.

"I'm leaving, I need to get out of here. I feel like I can't breathe." He tried to walk away from you, but you pulled him back around in front of you.

"Look at me. Take a deep breath, okay?" Slowly you pushed him back down onto the bed and watched as he focused his attention back to the ground. You sighed and sat down next to him. "Do me a favor and stop trying to get up." You heard him finally take a breath.

"I'm sorry." He murmured jut as he looked over his shoulder.

"It's alright." You smiled. "But just know that if you ever pull something like that again I'll kick your ass." His small laughter was like music to your ears. "How are you?" You said hesitantly.

"I'm fine." You raised an eyebrow. "I swear!" You couldn't help but laugh.

"Okay, okay I believe you!" You couldn't stop smiling at him no matter how hard you tried.

"I just have to get out of here. Even if it's just for a few hours." He had such an innocent look on his face. You could tell he didn't feel comfortable being here right now especially around Bruce.

You laid your head on his shoulder "We can't always run away from our problems and come back like nothing happened." He intertwined his hand with yours and sighed.

"I know, believe me I know. I just want to go out into the city, just for a little while." He cleared his throat. "Uh—you're—uh very much welcome to come too, so." He slowly stood up and grabbed his shirt along with his jacket.

"I'll get my jacket." You walked out the door and watched as Dick, Tim, and Bruce were shocked at the outcome you had achieved.

You felt Jason place his hand on the small of your back. "I'll, uh, be at my bike." He rubbed the nape of his neck.

"I'll catch up." You smiled and watched as he walked away.

"How in the hell did you get him to calm down?" Dick crossed his arms.

"He just needed persuasion." You poked at his chest.

"Thank you." Bruce gave you a small nod. "I wish I knew the right thing to say to him it seems like I never do." You shook your head.

"You just need to talk it out of him without all of the yelling. If you're yelling it's going to get you nowhere believe me." You gave him a reassuring smile.

"I'm just amazed he isn't breaking anything!" Tim sat back in his chair with a smug look on his face.

You and Dick started to crack up. "I guess I'm just that good?" You smiled at him as you reached for you helmet and saw Bruce look at you curiously. "Don't worry we're just going into the city for a bit. We'll be back I promise." You smiled once more at them before running towards his bike.

"Ready?" He threw a leg over his bike.

You trailed your hands across his handle bars. "Are you driving?" His face lit up.

"Well if it's okay with you." You nodded slowly and hopped on his bike.

You snaked your arms around his waist. "So where are we going? There's lots of places in Gotham you know." He turned his head and smiled.

"How about we just sit on a high rooftop for hours on end?" He grinned as he threw his helmet on.

"Sounds perfect." You smiled back.

This should be an interesting night.
