Chapter 2: Delivery date

"Mia, where are you?", He searched for me, his hands darting in the dark thin air.

"Noah", after a long time, his name still felt safe.

"Mia, God, you scared me. You alright?", His rough hands traced down to mine, fingers entwined in mine.

"Yah, I'm fine."

A series of phone calls were made from his iPhone, which brought us to the city blackout going out on the outer world.

"They say it would last for three hours. Looks like we are struck for a while."

"Great."

We were now standing at each corners of the lift, lit by the dim electronic white light. The tension between us, the millions of unanswered questions was swirling around the room.

His evil eyes preys on the right moment. The perfect timing to make a move.

Slowly the cold air from the winter swept in from the ventilator. The optimal temperature to catch a cold. Each time I catch a cold, I would have a macabre package of throbbing head ache, runny nose and watery eyes.

Sneeze.

Sneeze.

"Arrghh", he removed his black coat and placed it gently on my shoulders, the scent of his musk mixed up with fresh satin tint.

"No. It's fine. Mr. Knightley. It's just the temperature."

"Mia, shut up and tuck in warm. You could catch a cold."

He knows me well. I'm an open book in front of him. That's what kept the hope burning in him, that I would come back.

He buttoned his coat on the front and his eyes fell on my baby bum.

"So. Looks like life is giving you baby kicks, huh?"

"No.. eh  .Mr. Knightley"

"One year before it was Noah now it's Mr. Knightley", he lifted his eyebrows.

"Look, that two month date thing was an accident. I was stupid and you took advantage of me."

"Oh. So this is how you put this? I took advantage of you. This is not like you, Mia. We were doing great. We loved each other."

"I don't want to talk about this right now."

The brown eyes dug into mine with extreme lust. His both arms sandwiched me to the wall. His lips were closely meeting mine, his tangy mint breath fanning over mine, a run riot of phenomenal pregnancy hormones

"Mia, Why did you break up with me?"

I pushed him away. For a minute, I lost it in him.

Feelings. They never dies.

"Noah. Stop this. I'm married. I have a baby. Don't think you could change anything",

"Actually, you are about to get married."

The company walls have ears.

"I'm engaged", I lifted up a white Platinum ring, embracing my ring finger.

"So when is the wedding?"

"April 24"

"So Mr. Charlie Steven. Is he any good?"

"Stop it, Noah. I know what you are trying here"

"I just need to know what happens in my employee's life? This is totally on pure curiosity."

"Curiosity?"

"Yah. You have all rights not to answer the questions"

" Great."

While I played cool around him, my heart was racing out of speed. Adrenaline was pushed into the blood. Soon, little sweat glittered on my face and I gasped as if no air enters my lungs.

All of the sudden, the baby begins to roll.

"Woah.", I said, catching the baby, achieving somersaults in the pool.

"Woah, what?"

"It's the baby", The kicks increased in intensity. The cramps got worse every minute.

Both of us were scared. No one in this room had ever experienced or seen child birth. But Noah, he is more scared than I was. His face was filled with pure horror, hoping this wasn't real.

"It's the baby? Should I call someone? Is it term? 911? What am I supposed to do?"

"It's past delivery date, Noah. I guess the baby will be born here."

"Are you fucking serious, Mia?"
