Chapter 3

Everything has changed... Ηer everyday routine, her lifestyle, her social life. Εverything has indeed changed for Yonuro. How will she manage with this sudden change in her life? It all happened out of the blue, after all. Let's see what she will do from now on.

Yonuro and Ramael entered a bookstore to buy the necessary equipment for school. As they stepped in, the sign hanging on the door with the name of the store "Alegdas  dot com" made a loud thud that startled Yonuro. Afterwards, she quickly grabbed a shopping bag, before the employee could witness her holding Ramael.

Yonuro- For now Ramael, I will keep you hidden in the shopping bag if that's okay.

Ramael- I'll be fine, don't worry...

The notebooks started piling up and Ramael soon regretted those words.

Ramael- Ugh... SLOW DOWN A BIT! ITS TOO MUCH SHAKING! Gkh...! Gkh...!

Yonuro- Oh... Is this comfier?

She put her in a more open space inside the bag and waited for Ramael's answer.

Ramael- Much better, thanks.

Soon enough Yonuro had bought everything she needed and thus headed back home. Upon opening the door, she saw her parents standing still next to her. Yonuro raised her eyebrows and said in a stressful manner

Yonuro-  Hey mom! Oh hi there dad! how's it goin'? Sorry for being late... Haha.  I'm completely fine if you're wondering. Well, I'm going to my room now...  (anxiously inhales) See ya later!

Yonuro quickly ran past them without even making eye contact and her parents couldn't help but let out a deep sigh.

Yonuro's mom and dad- Teenangers... They always behave like that... Whatever.

They grinned and waved at her.

When she locked the door of her room, she put out Ramael and asked her if she was fine. The answer was "I thought it wouldn't be that painful, ugh.."

Anyway, she put aside the other bags she was holding at the time and then got  to spend some more time with the most unique object/being ever seen before.

Yonuro- So, Ramael. I do have a few more questions I want to ask.

Ramael- Go on. I'm all ears (Ba dam tss)

Yonuro- You said that you wanted to go back to the world from which you originate, right?

Ramael- Uh, yes that is very true.

Yonuro- And why is that? Do you just want to return home or is the reason more important?

Ramael stopped for a moment. She had to think of how to present the harsh truth behind her answer.

Ramael- Huh, important... You don't say... Well, if I do not return home in time, then this world we're currently in will be destroyed.

At that moment, Yonuro's jaw dropped and she couldn't even form a proper sentence.

Yonuro- Wh- What?! So, how do we... prevent that?

Ramael- Our long term goal is to get to the Lingering world,  a world different to this one, where time passes by more slowly, hence the name. This is the place where the 4 Angels,  are using their powers to form the Barrier among the 3 worlds, so that balance is preserved. 

It is in 4 different Holy Shrines where we stay dormant, using our powers for the Barrier's formation. If our  powers are not used for this purpose, then steadily imbalance will dominate and the 3 worlds will converge or in other words, become one. If that happens, then all will become a wasteland...

But for someone that is not a Demonic Lord, the only way to travel to another world is through the Pendant of Immortality.  This necklace is said to give its bearer that ability. It can never rust and cannot be broken. But we'll get into that later. I guess Sachrist really knows everything, after all...

Yonuro-  Oh, the whole thing's kinda... complicated, huh? Fuck. This is gonna be rough. I'm pretty new to all this stuff and I have no idea what we might encounter or how to deal with possible obstacles. We're probably doomed...

Ramael-  Don't worry, I've got your back and keep in mind that there is power within you that has not been activated yet. Once you can control that power, our plan will be less likely to fail.

Yonuro- I'll try my best.

There was just one thing that bothered Ramael.

Ramael- Hm. By the way, the Girl that tore my Angelic Veil is bugging me out. How did she get there in the first place and why would she attack me, Ramael, the Angel of Holy Energy, when there is the Mighty Angel Yulim that has the power to kill anybody?

 What is her goal? Did she want to aqcuire an Angelic Veil only to gain power? Did she just want to show-off? Or perhaps she wanted my Angelic Veil in particular? We don't know the answer to any of those questions right now...

Yonuro- Yeah, we'll never know I guess...

A moment of silence then filled the room. Both of them were thinking about what they had discussed previously. But that pause wasn't going to last for much longer. Apparently, a really good question came to Yonuro's mind.

Yonuro- Oh, and something else. How the fuck did your soul split into two halves? And why did it connect with your veil?

The question was somewhat tricky to answer from Ramael's perspective. She thought about it for a bit and then said the following.

Ramael-  Well, the first reason why my soul split is that I knew what would happen if the power of at least one of our Angelic Veils was not used for the purpose of preserving the Barrier. So I didn't want to be the one to let everyone down and be at fault for the worlds' awaited destruction.

Secondly,  when that Girl tore my Angelic Veil off,  I couldn't  accept the fact that I would be left without it and hence wouldn't be an Angel anymore. The Accursed would be right... Their belief that the Angels' duties need to be thwarted... I didn't want that. Even if somebody else played my role as Angel, I didn't want to live a life in which I would be looked down upon and be left without a  thing to love...

That's  why when I stretched my hand to save my Angelic Veil,  half of my soul  connected with it. I just... wish I had more power to protect myself and not end up like this. Now it's my fault for your world's imminent catastrophe.

Ramael's gaze then shifted away from Yonuro and her expression became a bit sad.

Yonuro- Oh... Don't be sad Ramael. You couldn't have done anything in a situation like that. Noone could. And don't forget the fact that you're not alone anymore. We have each other to depend on. And there is still a chance that everything might be mended! Don't let it get to you. I'll be there for you when you need me the most, I promise!

Ramael was relieved to hear these kind words. She opened her previously closed teary eyes and said after exhaling.

Ramael-  Thank you, Yonuro... It's a shame that someone like you will have to go through so much trouble. I guess it was fate for you to be the one. Nevertheless, I will do my best to stand by your side and protect you.

And at that moment, Yonuro smiled, leaned forward and hugged Ramael.

Ramael was  surprised at first, but then let Yonuro embrace her. The bond between the two had tightend since then and it could be perceived as an Angelic Bond...
