"I believe payment is rendered for defending the warlocks." Magnus says pulling out the ruby necklace from his pocket.

"I couldn't." Iz says shocked.

"Oh but you could." Magnus states dramatically. He walks behind her and clips the necklace around her neck. "And you should, the light woods have been wearing this for years. Besides it would look silly on your brother."

"How do we summon the memory demon?" Clary asks getting up from her spot beside me on the couch.

"Are you certain?" Magnus says looking at each and every one of us. Getting tired of sitting on the coffee table I get up and walk over to Izzy. "Summoning such a powerful demon could be lethal."

"I'll do anything to save my mother." Clary says seriously. What Magnus said though had me concerned. I really felt something bad was gonna happen. Seeming to sense my concerns I feel Iz grab my hand and then lays her head on my shoulder. It was her silent way of saying that everything would be okay and maybe it would.

"Okay." Magnus says respectfully. Magnus was a good man. I don't believe that the downworlders were treated right and I want that to change. "Pretty boy, get your team ready."

Jace steps forward but is soon stopped by Magnus. "I was talking about him."he says pointing to Alec causing me and Iz to snort. Magnus starts to walk off and snaps his fingers at clary and me. Signifying to follow him.

"Everyone wants the mortal cup." He states turning to us as we enter a new room. " don't trust anyone especially not the clave."

"Why should we trust you?" Clary rudely asks.

"You shouldn't." Magnus states honestly or maybe jokingly. "Only trust yourselves." As he finishes talking he hands Clary a book of chalks.

"They're beautiful." Clary breathes out. She was always the more creative out of us but I was always more reckless. I guess I know where I get it now. "What are they for?"

"If you want your memories returned you have to draw the pentagram to summon the memory demon." After Clary sets to work with the diagram Magnus gave her he turns to me. "There's only five people that can go at a time I think you should sit it out."

"With all do respect Magnus I can do just as well as the others." I say to him. Not understanding why he didn't want me to help.

"Aurora calm down, for the record I think you are way more capable that the other four, but for this particular deal you would have to give up your most precious memory and you just got yours back." He states. I sigh and nod to him. "You can look through my personal library in the meantime if you want."

With a sigh I slink over to the library and start to look through the books. As if some higher power was telling me to, my fingers stopped over top of the spine of a black worn out book. I pull it out and blow the dust off of it. Parabatai's: a history. Flipping to the table of contents I see chapter titles like Jonathan and David, the oath, finding the right parabatai, and what does a parabatai do?

"The soul of Jonathan was knit with the soul of David, and Jonathan loved him as his own soul." Alec says from behind me. I don't flinch at all. Alec's voice no matter how sudden had become calming to me.

"You and jace are parabatai right?" I ask curiously. I'm genuinely curious about parabatais. I look back at him and he nods his head. "So your like brothers?"

"No, it's more than that." He says coming around to stand in front of me. "When we fight we fight as one, any rune drawn by your parabatai is stronger than any other. It's stronger..." he stops abruptly.

"Stronger than what Alec?" I ask with a smile. This whole thing sounds interesting. He swallows before answering.

"It's equal to love." He finally answers. He shakes his head at what looks to be an attempt to change the subject. " the relationship has to be strong beforehand."

"Do you..." I pause. Would this be the right choice ? Of course it would. With a newfound confidence I ask my question. "Do you think iz would want to be my parabatai?"

He smiles and grabs my faces in his hands. I close my eyes and grab his hand in mine. "She would love that." He says in his angelic voice.

"Everyone take your rightful place on the Pentagram." Magnus says as everyone begins to move one of the five corners. "We must initiate a bond, once this bond is sealed it cannot be Broken until the demon retreats. No matter what we cannot let go of each other's hands."

Slowly I sit down on the couch and watch them grab hands. Getting nervous I grab a pillow and squeeze it to my chest. I hope everything goes well.

"I will lead the ceremony and you all must do exactly what I say." Magnus states. "The demons name is Valak and at some point it will ask for payment in exchange for clary's memories."

"What do you mean?" Jace asks.

"We will see." Magnus answers. "Let us begin."

I shrink down behind the back of the couch and only peak my eyes over. I can just feel this won't go well. Magnus suddenly starts speaking a language I don't understand. A while later a tornado forms in the middle of the pentagram.

"Valak is among us. Do not break the bond." Magnus shouts. Gaining courage  I get up from the couch and grab my seraph blade. If something goes wrong I need to be ready to protect them. "It is time the demon demands Payment."

"What does it want?" Alec shouts.

"We must each relinquish a beloved memory of the one we love the most." Magnus shouts. A memory is pulled out of Izzy and is projected into the tornado. It's Alec smirking. Next is Clary it's a memory of me. I'm dancing on a stage. That's when I won my first dance competition. Next is Alec, all of the sudden a memory of jace is projected. Jace seems to be in thought but to me it makes sense. Jace is Alec's parabatai of course he loves him.

" no it's not true the demon deceived me." Alec shouts.

"Alec it's okay don't break the bond." I shout over the wind blowing. As if he didn't hear me he let's go if jace's and Magnus's hands. Everyone is suddenly pushed back by the demon. Quickly I get up and swing my seraph blade at it. The demon knocks it in my hand and sucks me into the tornado.

"Aurora!" I hear Alex shout. It feels as if the life is being sucked out me. Slowly my eyelids start to fall until I can't see anything.

Alec's point of view

I grab auroras leg an start to pull her. The thing that worried me most is she's not screaming anymore. Iz comes to help and we're both trying to save her.

"Clary if you kill the demon your memories will be lost forever." Within a couple of seconds the demon bursts into ash and I catch aurora in my arms. Slowly I sit her on the ground.

"No no no! Aurora come on wake up." I almost cry as I put my hands on the sides of her face. Very easily I slap her cheek in attempt to get her up. When it's no use I finally grab her hand and start to cry. It's my fault. I broke the bond. I put aurora in danger. I put the girl I love in danger. "Aurora come on. Wake up please."

Just as I'm about to lose hope she shoots up with a gasp. Looking around her eyes land on me. All of the sudden she throws her arms around me. I can still hear her heavy breathing. Gladly I return the hug. I don't know what I would do if I lost aurora. She doesn't know I love her.

"Thank the angel." I sigh. She hugs me even tighter. Slowly she lets go and turns towards Izzy. I hadn't noticed until this moment that Iz had been crying too. They really care for each other. They'd be the perfect parabatai, I can only hope that after this aurora will get the guts to ask Iz. After she hugs Iz she turns to jace. He had been crying too. Looking at jaces tear stained face I realized that we all care for her so much. I care for her so much. Finally she looks at Clary. They launch towards each other and into a hug. Even if they are mad at each other they still care for each other's safety.

"Was it just me or did I almost die?" Aurora jokes with that beautiful smile of hers. Damn I love this girl.

Okay so after a bit of reading online about new series for Shadowhunters I literally realized that I named auroras parents after two different blackthorns completely by accident.
