This is an AU that I came up with while I was offline. Bein' away from the internet gives me great ideas! Everything down below is a description on what exactly is going on. Basically the universe of this AU. Now go read!

Basically, everyone is born with a choker or necklace with a pendant. The pendant bears the symbol of your soulmate. Since this is a Billdip fanfiction, Dipper is going to have a golden triangle pendant on his choker. Bill will have a sapphire pinetree pendant on his. These pendants are called soul pendants.

Everyone knows their soul symbol from birth. Their symbol is permanently tattooed on their skin, and it serves as a birthmark, sort of. This birthmark is called a soulmark. You can have other birthmarks, but your symbol is the only one with color. So Dipper will still have his Big Dipper birthmark, but it will be brown. His soulmark will be a blue pinetree. Bill's soulmark will be a bright golden triangle with a top hat and bowtie.

Soulmarks are actually magic. They glow a very bright white on first contact with your soulmate. After the first time two soulmates touch, everytime they touch, their soulmarks will glow the same color as the mark. If someone's soulmate were to die, the soulmarks would turn gray. If someone's soulmate is injured, then the soulmarks will become a pale shade of the original color.

Soulmarks do not appear on your private parts, chest (for girls), armpits, backside, foot, scalp, or the inside of your legs.

Every three years, a party is held for everyone who hasn't found their soulmate. The way the Council (the Council is the government in this AU) knows that you have/haven't found your soulmate is by checking your pendant records. When you first find your soulmate, you have to touch your pendants together. Touching pendants binds the two soulmates together forever. This does not work for people who are not soulmates. Pendant touching creates a bright wave of white light, sending magic over the soulmates' bodies. This magic is what bonds them forever.

The party, called the Willow Ball, was created 1,000 years ago for people who haven't found their soulmate yet. This occurs every three years. The official name for this dance is the Triannual Willow Ball, but it is usually referred to as the Willow Ball. Everyone attending the ball must wear formal clothing. The age limit for attendance is 13 years old, meaning that if you still haven't found your soulmate at age 13, you have to go. The Willow Ball is mandatory. The main purpose of the dance is to find your soulmate.

This is a Billdip and Mabifica fanfiction. Mabel and Pacifica already know that they are soulmates, and they are together. Bill is human in this (obviously) and he is not a demon. Not a trace of demon in him.

Bill Cipher - 18 years old, blonde hair with some black at the bottom of the back. Has freckles and bright golden eyes and tan skin. Has a twin brother named Will.

Mason "Dipper" Pines - 18 years old, fluffy chocolate brown hair. Has a Big Dipper birthmark on his forehead and brown doe-like eyes and pale skin. Has a twin sister named Mabel.

Mabel Pines - 18 years old, long flowy brown hair that turns into bubblegum pink at the bottom. Has brown eyes and pale skin. Has a twin brother named Dipper.

Pacifica Northwest - 18 years old, longish blonde hair that turns a cyan-light blue and the bottom. Has green eyes and slightly tanned skin. Rich, but very kind daughter of Preston and Priscilla Northwest.
