Emma literally played games on her phone and selfied with sleeping Luke until around eleven when she drifted off to sleep.

It wasn't much sleep (literally two hours) when she woke up to the sound of voices. A pair of arms was still tightly around her stomach and Luke's head was buried in her neck. She surprised herself with the fact that she didn't feel awkward with sleeping with him all night. Emma groaned, cuddling further into his embrace, wanting to go back to sleep.

"They're so cute, what the hell."

"Jack, language."

"Mum, I'm, like, twenty-two."

"Wake them up."

"No! They look so adorable, Ben."

Em forced herself to open her eyes and turned bright red when she realized all three of the Hemmings clan was standing in the middle of Luke's bedroom, all staring at her and Luke like they were some foreign species. She felt so embarrassed upon realization that she most likely looked like an awful groggy train wreck. "Hello . . ." her voice trailed off.

"Great," Jack started, "you've woken her up."

Then Emma practically went blind when a bright flash went off and when she regained eyesight, Liz was holding a digital camera. It was loud and bright and overwhelming yet Luke was still asleep. She stared at the trio before they nodded and shuffled out of the room all at once. Em squeezed her eyes shut and slid down so she was face to face with her boyfriend.

His long eyelashes were brushing the tops of his cheekbones and his cheek was slightly squished from being on the pillow. The pink lips that she'd kissed were parted and chapped, but she didn't care. He looked so beautiful even when he was asleep. His blonde hair was flattened against his forehead.

Emma thought of what he'd said last night, oh. That was so sudden and she wasn't expecting it and she wished she'd said it back and she was feeling so many things at once that she didn't realize that Luke was now awake. She was looking at the logo on her sweatshirt, deep in thought, and jumped in surprise when he leaned over and placed a soft kiss on her cheek.

"Good morning, beautiful," he muttered, his voice even deeper than it already was. Luke pulled her closer to him and she nuzzled herself into his bare chest. "How'd you sleep?"

She breathed in his scent. "Um, okay, I guess," she shrugged. Emma felt him pull away from her and she got out of bed, almost falling off. "When's the barbecue?" When he told her that it was at around four, she nodded and stretched. He just sat there watching. "Stop."

He smiled innocently and stood up as well, finding some sweatpants. Luke took her hand in his and laced their fingers together as they headed downstairs for breakfast (after she fixed herself, of course).

After an agonizing breakfast filled with Jack poking fun at them for being so adorably cuddly and then Liz smacking him upside the head for a perverted remark, they went upstairs to get changed. Luke told her he had to take a shower, so she nodded and waited for him to leave to get changed. She picked out a black scalloped tank top and plain blue jean shorts. It was a special occasion, so she actually wore sandals for once. Her necklace as usual was worn as an accessory. In a spur of the moment thing, she tied her hair up in a weird braided bun that she couldn't perfect, so she finally let it loose and prayed it looked slightly presentable.

Luke emerged in a black and white plaid shirt over a black t-shirt, just as she was popping a piece of minty gum in her mouth. His hair was dried and gelled up. He looked good in less time and effort than Emma, what the hell?

He grinned when he saw her. "You look really good," he stated and she blushed, waving him off. "Don't deny it, or else." She mocked him by making a little mouth with her hand and opening and closing it. Luke tutted before saying, "You asked for it."

Emma wasn't too worried . . . until he rushed towards her (why'd he keep doing that) and picked her up by her waist, throwing her over his shoulder. "Luke, I swear to goodness gracious almighty," she cried, holding onto his shirt for dear life. "Put me down!" He began to walk out of the room with her on his shoulder.

"I'll drop you down the stairs if you keep struggling."

She rolled her eyes, letting her legs go limp and keeping the grip on his shirt tight. "Nice, Luke, spoken like a true rapist," she replied and he laughed, shaking slightly and giving her a heart attack. "I'll tell your mom on you, I swear to god." When he didn't put her down and started to go down the stairs, she cupped her hands around her mouth. "MS. HEMMINGS, HELP. YOUR SON IS HURTING ME."

"I'm not even hurting you!" he protested, tightening his hold on her thighs, trying not to bump her into the wall. Yikes. "You're just a big baby."

Liz rushed to the end of the stairs and looked like she was about to cry. "Luke! You're going to drop her!" she yelled and Em smirked to herself. "Put her down."

He groaned and gently put her down onto the floor safely at the bottom, sticking his tongue out at his mum. Ben passed them on the way to the living room and smiled. "Hi there, Emma. Lucifer," he nodded towards his brother. Luke scowled.

The doorbell rang just as Jack came around, and the barbecue was on. They all headed out to the backyard where the grill, pool, and picnic table, plus a small firepit, were set up. Emma looked at Luke and he smirked, taking her hand and leading her over to the pool. "If you push me in-"

"I'm not gonna' push you in. Did you bring a bathing suit?" he asked and she nodded. He'd texted her to bring one. "We should go for, I don't know, a late night swim later, yeah?"

Em cringed at the thought of him having to see her in a bathing suit, but agreed nonetheless. "Sure," she replied. For some reason she didn't think she'd have to swim, but she did. She took off her sandals and sat down at the edge, dipping her feet in the water.

"I'll go get us some beers," he said, and she would've said she didn't drink, but she didn't care. That was the old Emma.

She started to think about the whole I think I might love you thing again. It was really stressing her out. Like, what if he was actually dreaming when he said that? Or if he was tired and he was delusional from lack of sleep? Emma wasn't exactly freaked out, of course she might've loved him, too. God, how weird was that. They met maybe two months ago and it was already love. It was possible, of course. Her parents were that love at first sight couple.

Luke headed over to the cooler where his uncle Jim was. His uncle did a double take when he saw Luke, but opened his arms for a hug when he saw who it was. "Wow, Luke, you're so grown up," Jim said. Then little Tori, Luke's four-year-old cousin, ran up and hugged Jim's leg. "Tori, do you remember your cousin Luke?"

"Tag, you're it!"

Luke was 'tagged' before she ran off, giggling and shrieking, pointing to the other grandchildren in the family that Luke was it, and he shrugged at Jim before chasing after the tiny blonde. All the kids ran around screaming and Em looked up from her spot at the pool, grinning maniacally. Luke noticed and ran over to her.

He poked a finger to her cheek. "Tag, you're it," he said before giggling and running away, watching the confusion register on her face before she stood up and shook the water off her feet before bolting through the lawn and mostly going for Luke, but because his legs were like fucking Empire State buildings with feet, he ran way too fast, so she focused on a small child instead. She tagged a little boy and he laughed loudly, running after another kid.

Emma was running and didn't look where she was going, thus slamming into a body, which happened to be Luke. He caught her and bit at his lip, leaning down to kiss her, but she blocked his face with her hand. "No, your family," she mumbled, laughing as he left a kiss against her hand. "I don't want your mum to think I'm, like, a slut or something."

He groaned and looked around. "No one's looking, so just let me-" Luke tried to kiss her again, but she rejected it. "Emma!" His voice was so desperate and whiney.

Then a big bustly lady fumbled her way over to them and cried out. Luke pulled away from Em and smiled weakly, hugging the woman. "Oh, my Lukey Pookey! You are just so big now! I've missed you all these past holidays! Your mum has told me you dropped out of college, naughty! Jack told me you were here and I just had to come over and hug you and give you a big kiss! And I heard you have a girlfriend, yes?" the lady said so cheerfully, then turned to Emma. "I think I hear wedding bells. Are you two going to have babies sometime soon?"

"Helena!" Luke exclaimed and Em's cheeks were bright red by now. He wrapped an arm around her, pulling her close. "We only just made it official. No babies, no weddings."

Helena pursed her lips and chortled. "Oh, pish posh! I see it in your eyes, darling, you two are in love," she said. Emma tensed, there goes that word again. Love. Luke noticed her body language and excused them by kissing Helena's cheek and taking her hand, pulling her to the pool.

"That was my great aunt Helena," he explained and she nodded, looking over at aunt Helena, who was now pestering some small child. "Hey, what's wrong?"

Emma shook her head, smiling fakely. "Can we just talk about it later?" she questioned and he nodded reluctantly just as Liz called everyone over to get hamburgers. Luke held her hand the entire time and smiled when a cousin came over, asking her if they were dating. "Yes, your cousin Luke is my boyfriend." The little girl scrunched up her nose before saying, 'Ew' and walking away.

The rest of the barbecue was fun, mostly Em and Luke getting lots of questions about their relationship. Luke had actually gotten her to drink two beers, two more than she'd ever drank before, and she eased a little. She still didn't let him kiss her, though, and he did his little pout. By the time everyone was beginning to leave, Luke told his mum to leave the pool lights on because they were going to go for a swim.

Luke didn't know if he could handle himself seeing her in a bikini, but you'd never know until you tried.
