Lia turned the doors handle and stepped in to find her mother with puffy eyes and her father laying on the hospital bed.Tears threatened to fall from her eyes,"Mom..?" The girl stepped further into the room.

"He is unconscious but breathing,anything could happen at this point.If you want to say anything I think you should do it now Jane" Her mother explained.

"Can I have a moment alone with him please?"Ophelia managed to squeak out,her mother left but David refused to leave her side.Eventually Ophelia gave up on getting him to leave.

She approached the bed and gently held her fathers hand.Tears fell from her eyes as she leaned her forehead against the back of his hand.

"I'm so sorry dad,I'm so sorry for the things I put you through growing up," She started,the tears clouding her vision.

"I'm sorry I left without saying goodbye after graduation and then not talking to anyone in the family afterwards, I'm sorry I ever doubted that you were a good man.Im so-" Her words were cut off by the sound of her fathers heart monitor making a sound to signal that his heartbeat had stopped.

Doctors immediately piled in,pulling Ophelia away from her father.Ophelia screamed and tried to hold her father one last time but David held her out of their way,as much as he hated having to do it.

"No!No! Get away from him!"Ophelia yelled,trying to kick her way out of Davids lap.

"Ophelia there's nothing you can do to help him right now!Just let me hold you and when the doctors leave you can finish speaking to him" David tucked her head into his shoulder,her tears soaking into Davids hoodie,he didn't care at the moment.

As soon as the doctors left Ophelia stayed in her spot,not wanting to look at her fathers now dead body.Once her breathing had gone back to normal she pulled away from Davids shoulder,looking him in the eyes.

"Thank you for calming me down Dave" She let a sad yet small smile fall onto her face,She pecked a kiss on his cheek.

"Do you want to say anything else to him or would you rather go home?"David asked the fragile girl.

"I just want to go home now,Can you get an Uber back to my house while I say bye to my mom?" Ophelia asked,earning a nod from David.

Ophelia stood up with David following behind,though he was staring down at his phone.They made their way down to the waiting area to find her mother who was sniffling and wiping her tears away with tissues,they both assumed that a doctor had just told her about her husband.

Ophelia wrapped her arms around her mother before speaking,"Davids gonna take me home and I texted Aunt Grace to come pick you up since I think you should spend some time with her." Her mother nodded and planted a kiss on her daughter and Davids cheek,light red lipstick stains being apparent on their faces.

They said their goodbyes and then walked outside while wiping away the lipstick.They got into the Uber and headed to Ophelia's childhood home.

Ophelia opened her childhood homes door and quickly grabbed her suitcase from the hall and ran upstairs to her old bedroom,not wanting to look at the walls and see her fathers smiling face or even how the layout of the houses furniture had changed since she left.Ophelia immediately locked the door.She slid her back down the wall and hugged her knees,she cried loud and hard.

After about 5 minutes of tears falling and the short mourning of her father, she pulled out her phone,being glad now that she told David to say hi to his family and then go see her.She booked an airbnb that could be ready in 30 minutes and then ordered an Uber to a local car rental place.She grabbed her suitcase and raced downstairs then waited at the door for her Uber to arrive.

She quickly peaked around the corner of her house to see if any of the Dobriks were outside,though she only saw Toby and David playing soccer in the backyard.She couldn't help but think 'David is going to be a great dad one day' She shook her head free of the thoughts and then sat in the Uber quickly,hoping David didn't  see her.

(a/n! ive never been inside a car rental place but ive rented a car before and this is just how i imagine it goes ok continue)

Ophelia thanked the driver and stepped out of the Uber.She stuffed her phone into her purse and then walked through the doors of the car rental place.She walked up to the main desk and greeted the receptionist, "Hi,How long would you want to be renting a car?" The receptionist asked while writing something down.

"For two days"

"And do you have a budget?" She wrote something down once again.

"Yes I do, I would not like to go over $30,000" Ophelia smiled politely.

"Do you have a preferred car?"

"Yes I was hoping for a Jeep Wrangler" She fiddled with her hands.

"You're in luck,We has someone return our last Jeep earlier.It will be ready in about 15 minutes.Please fill out this paperwork while you wait" The receptionist slid a stack of paper across the desk and pointed to chairs.Ophelia thanked the woman then sat down,putting her already starting to blow up phone on do not disturb.

Eventually a man came out of his office and said the car was ready for her,she signed another paper and then was handed the keys to a black Jeep Wrangler,similar to the one she owned back home except hers is red.

She drove to the airbnb and was greeted by a good sized cabin, she made a mental note to build a house like it to raise a family in.She threw her phone onto the couch and then closed/ turned off any source of light in the house.She grabbed a fluffy blanket from a closet and curled up on the couch,putting Netflix on the tv and pushing multiple buttons to sign in and then watch Pretty Little Liars for the fifth time that year.

Ophelia randomly started sobbing at the mere thought of David being upset with her,she held a pillow close and pretended it was him.She wished she could hold him right then and got mad at herself for pushing him away,only causing more tears to flood her eyes and fall rapidly.
