Distractions

"Dani, you have to eat something." Jax pressured, holding a spoonful of soup in front of my face. I turned my head away, eliciting a frustrated groan from him.

"Dani, Luke ran away, the whole pack is in mourning, we have another pack trying to encroach on our territory, and you won't eat. Please help me here, and eat the freaking soup." Jax ranted. Slowly, I took the spoon from his hands and ate the soup.

"There, I ate. Now go do more important stuff." I whispered, pushing the nearly full bowl away. He sighed and pushed the bowl back towards me.

"Nothing is more important than you." He said solemnly. I gave him a funny look and ate another spoonfull of soup.

"Is that how I'm going to get you to eat? By complimenting you? In that case, I think your hair looks lovely today." He joked, stroking my tangled hair.

"You're unbelievable." I groaned.

"And you're unbelievably beautiful." He smirked.

"Tell me something I don't know." I scoffed, dramatically flipping my hair.

"She's back! There's the Dani I love!" Jax exclaimed, and I laughed at his overexcited reaction.

"Love you too, bud." I said, laying back on the bed.

"Dani, you need to eat more soup." Jax demanded, trying to sit me up.

"Maybe later." I grumbled, pushing his hands away.

"I swear you have some of the most confusing mood swings!" Jax huffed, forcing me to sit up, ignoring my protests, and holding the spoon in my face again.

"You keep on holding that thing in my face and see what happens." I threatened, plopping back down on the bed and using the sheets like a shield.

"Do you want me to call for backup? I've got a guy three times as strong as you, and cares about you almost as much as I do." Jax growled.

"Bite me." I spat, holding the covers tighter over my head.

"Seth, I need your help with something!" Jax called out. He could have used mind link, but he was using this like a threat. In a way, it's kind of cute how he wants me to eat and all, but I'm not hungry, at all.

"What is it?" Seth asked, trudging up the stairs.

"He wants to know what conditioner you use!" I replied, and was met with a slight waring growl.

"Okay, Dani. What is it really?" He asked again, and Jax spoke before I could.

"I need you to hold her down while I force feed her soup." Jax explained.

"I'm not hungry!" I protested.

"When was the last time you ate a full meal?" Jax asked.

"Yesterday, which was not that long ago. You're just being paranoid." I snapped.

"Dani, it's three in the afternoon." Seth tried reasoning.

"I've eaten." I replied shortly.

"Yeah, like two spoonfulls of soup." Jax snapped.

"Fine." I growled, throwing the blanket off of the bed and taking the bowl of soup, chugging it like I was drinking water. Seth gaped at me, still wary of how I was acting around Jax. If I was a regular pack member, that would have probably earned me a punch in the face.

But lucky for me, I'm not a regular pack member, so I can be just as sarcastic and rude as I want. Most of the time.

I gave Seth a sarcastic look before burying myself under the sheets.

"Dani, you need to get up, we have stuff to do." Jax said, pulling the blanket off and throwing it to the other side of the room.

"Like what?" I challenged. Jax huffed, and pulled me out of the bed.

"Important stuff. Now, are you going to get dressed or am I going to have to make you?" He replied, raising an eyebrow at me as I thought over my options. Be difficult, and see if he would actually try to dress me, in which case I would struggle to no end, or comply.

I've already been pretty difficult today, but I kind of want to see how far I can go before he realizes that I'm messing with him.

"Make me." I smirked, holding my arms out in a 'come at me' stance.

"Princess, I'm going to give you one last chance to do this on your own." He warned.

"Don't call me princess." I bristled, and now he was the one smirking. In one swift movement, he grabbed one of his shirts from the dresser and stepped in front of me, his shoulders blocking my view of the room.

"I'll call you what I like, Princess." He whispered, his mouth dangerously close to my ear. While I was distracted, I didn't notice him softly grabbing the hem of my shirt, lifting it up, just a tiny bit.

"Fine, but I get to call you Servant, then." I breathed out, cursing myself in my head for not having a stronger voice, and for letting him get to me this easily.

"No, you can call me Alpha." He whispered in what I'm guessing is supposed to be a seductive voice. I would have paid more attention, but I was too busy laughing at his choice of nickname.

"Never!" I laughed, still trying to sound indignant. Well, as indignant as one can be when they're almost on the floor laughing.

"Just let me dress you." He ordered, and I gave him an odd look.

"I am very capable of doing that on my own, thank you very much." I said, poking his overly muscly chest, and almost breaking my hand.

"But are you?" He asked with a smirk, taking a step foreward, causing me to take a step back.

"I'm pretty sure I could kick your butt if I wanted to." I shrugged, feigning nonchalance.

"And somehow I doubt that..." He trailed off.

"You shouldn't." I said, pushing him back so that he landed on the bed and grabbing a pair of shorts before rushing into the bathroom.

While taking off my shirt, I noticed something on my stomach, that something being a huge scar running from just under my bra to my belly button. I hate everything.

"Why me?" I groaned, pulling Jax's shirt over my head just before he bust into the bathroom.

"Is everything okay?" He asked with slight panic in his voice.

"Oh, yeah, I forgot to lock the door." I said.

"Even if you had locked it, I still have a key. Are you okay?" He shrugged.

"Yes, I am perfectly capable of doing simple things like feeding and dressing myself. Now get out."I growled.

"I just wanted to make sure you were okay-"

"Does this look okay?" I hissed, pulling up my shirt so he could see the scar. "I just saw my best friend die, and now a have a permanent souvenir from that lovely occasion."

He stood there slightly stunned for a second before gently running his hand down the scar.

"She wouldn't want you to be upset." He whispered, finally pulling me into a hug.

"But we all are."
