I woke up still in Marks arms. He never left me. I lifted myself up and sat on the edge of the bed and Mark followed.

"You feeling better?" He slowly asked and rubbed my leg

I shook my head "no" I spoke

There was silence for a minute.

"I'm going for a walk, just to clear my head" I spoke getting up and mark did the same

"I'll come with you" he spoke and opened the door for us

"No, I just need to be alone for a while" I replied and left the room.

I began to walk down the hallways and into the lobby. Eventually I walked out of the hospital and outside. Breathing in the fresh air and allowing myself to be drama free for a little while. I had paced around the outside of the hospital for hours just being by myself. After about the second hour I didn't feel like staying any longer, it felt draining being here and I needed a smile out on my face.

So I decided to hop into my car and drive to Meredith and Dereks house to see Zola. She was always able to cheer me up. When I reached the front porch I used my keys to get inside, I took my shoes off and placed my bag on the bag rack. I then headed into the living room and spotted Zola and the babysitter on the couch reading a book. 

"Lexie!" Zola squealed as she ran to give me a big hug

"Hey Zozo" I replied and picked her up into my arms. 

The babysitter got up off the couch and began to head out after I had paid her and told her she was okay to leave. 

"Hows my Zola doing?" I asked whilst she was still in my arms

"Great, I love that your here Lexie" She spoke 

"Me too, what should we do this afternoon?" I asked Zola as I put her back down on the ground

"Bake!" She spoke excitedly 

"We can do that" I replied.

Zola grabbed my hand and walked me to the kitchen. I started getting out the ingredients to bake a cake on Zola's request. She also requested for the icing to be bright pink with sprinkles all around it. To say we made a mess would be an understatement. There was flour all over the bench and all over Zolas face and hands. We laughed a lot. 

Once the cake was in the oven we began the clean up, Zola even offered to wash the dishes she got soap everywhere though. We laughed at that. I passed her the dirty dishes and she would scrub them and I would dry them and put them away. Once the kitchen was clean you could barley tell that there was a mess. I helped Zola down from the stood she was standing on and then proceeded to wipe her up. She complained about the wipes being too cold. 

After the kitchen was clean the cake was done in the oven, I took it out and placed it on a cooling rack on the counter.

"Now we wait for it to cool before we ice it" I spoke 

"waiting sucks" Zola commented "can we just put it in the freezer?"

I laughed "no, we can't do that Zola" 

"But we can make the icing for it" I added 

I got the ingredients out again and Zola placed them in the bowl, there was hardly any mess this time. Zola then mixed it together and added a lot of pink food colouring. By the time we had done the icing the cake was ready. I let Zola ice and decorate it and it turned out pretty good. Once it was all done we decided to wait until Meredith and Derek got home to eat it. 

Now, we were back in the living room I was sitting on the floor with Zola playing with her with her doll house. 

"I love you Zozo" I spoke 

Zola turned her head to face me and wrapped her tiny arms around my waist "I love you Aunty Lex too"

I kissed her hair and let her go to continue playing with her doll house thats when my phone went off and I picked it up. There were four texts from Mark and a couple of phone calls from him, there was also a few from Meredith and Derek probably wondering why the babysitter left early. 

I began to read the messages

Mark: Lexie are you okay? Where are you?

Mark: Lexie please answer

Mark: I'm getting worried

Mark: Lex where are you?

Meredith: Lexie, Mark told us that you left and you haven't been back are you okay?

Derek: Lexie where are you?

Everyone was so worried about me and I felt bad that I didn't tell anyone where I went. So, I replied to them with the same message. 

'I'm fine. I'm with Zola at home'

Mark got back to me within less than a second. 

Mark: okay, how are you doing?

Lexie: I'm fine, Zola is cheering me up

Mark: tell Zola Uncle Mark said 'hi', did you want me to come over after work?

"Uncle Mark said hi Zola" I told Zola, she was still playing with her dolls

"Hi Uncle Mark" she spoke back

Lexie: Zola said hi back and yeah, if you wanted to. We should talk about a few things. 

Mark: Alright I'll be over after work. I love you Lex

Lexie: I love you too

The conversation with Mark ended and Zola and I spent the rest of the afternoon together till Meredith and Derek came home. Zola ran straight to them as they entered the door and Derek swung her around in his arms. Meredith joined me in the living room and Derek took Zola to the kitchen probably so Meredith could talk to me alone. 

"I heard what happened Lex, are you okay?" She asked taking a seat next to me

"I'm getting better, the afternoon with Zola and break from work was what I needed"

She nodded and pulled me into a side hug. I rested my head on her shoulder. 

"She got fired you know" Meredith spoke

"Who Maddison?" I replied confused

"Yeah, after you collapsed Derek went and spoke to the Chief and Callie and April did the same once they left your room but I think Mark toped it"

"Why what did he do?"

"Well, after you left for your walk he marched straight to the Chiefs office and complained for a long time he even began yelling and threatened to quit, so did everyone else. So, the Chief called Maddison to his office and fired her" 

I felt kind of bad that she had lost her job but I couldn't help but smile. Part of it was because I didn't have to deal with Maddison anymore but another part was because everyone cared for me. They cared enough to quit if she wasn't fired. 

"That's great news. I can finally stop stressing" I smiled and Meredith hugged me tighter

Derek and Zola came back to the living room. Zola was holding two plates both with a piece of cake and she handed one to me and one to Meredith. She then grabbed her plate from Derek. 

"You baked us a cake?" Meredith asked 

"Yes with Lexie's help. Do you like it?" Zola asked

Meredith and Derek both gave it a ten out of ten. Zola had pink icing all over her face from her cake and Meredith went and took her upstairs for a bath. As Meredith was starting to walk Zola up the stairs the doorbell rang and Mark entered the house. I was still sitting on the floor in the living room. I watched Zola run back down the stairs and jump into Marks arms I smiled they had such a great bond. He let Zola go and Meredith took her back upstairs for her bath. Derek then cleared the dishes and took them into the kitchen to clean them. 

Mark started to walk to the living room and I got up and walked over crashing my body into his. I wrapped my arms around his neck and he wrapped his around my waist. 

"I'm sorry for pushing you away" I spoke

"It's okay Lex I understand" He responded "She is gone now"

"I know Meredith told me, Thank you for sticking up for me"

"I always will" 

Mark and I let go but I was still holding his left hand. I didn't want to let him all go. Mark joined us for dinner and after that we went into the living room where Zola was watching her cartoons, Derek and Meredith went to change. 

Mark was leaning up against the arm of the sofa and I was sitting in front of him, resting on him.  He had both his arms wrapped in front of me and I intertwined my fingers with his. He continued to kiss my hair. 

"Lex?" he asked against my ear

"yeah" I replied

"move in with me"
