A Sailor's Tale

She sparked interest in high school and afterwards was recruited

Waited five long months after, until she was officially booted

She spent two months in boot camp with an injury so severe

Not knowing if the end of her time there would near

She graduated on time due to her strength for the mission

She came there for purpose despite her condition

She wore her uniform so mighty and proud

Becoming a sailor put her on the highest of clouds

Many in her life were genuinely proud

She was one of a kind around her small town

She traveled around the world and saw beautiful places

Shopped, ate and made memories in all cases

From the beginning she loved telling people she was a U.S. Sailor

For she had no clue just yet what that title fully tailored

She served amongst some of the best there has been

Her fellow sailors were more than just friends

They helped each other through the roughest of seas

Life lessons were amongst all that was seized

Seized while providing the country with duty

She was often criticized for being a beauty

She was overlooked and underbooked for jobs at hand

Most of which went to the toughest of man

She spent most of her time trying to prove her worth

Was ridiculed when she decided to give birth

Spent many of nights crying behind closed doors

Was really depressed when the ship wasn't moored

Struggled to find her voice within ranks

The many of nights she sat with thoughts that sanked

She pushed back and gave it all that she had

She learned to control her emotions even when mad

For she was amongst the toughest of men

Fighting every time waiting for the next war to begin

She served for years being a part of America's greatest sea tales

Went to war next to the greatest of males and females

Even though there was darkness there was many of light

She learned a lot from the best and put up a hell of a fight

The biggest lessons learned was strength and discipline

She was a U.S. Sailor that presented honor, courage and commitment
