Ricky's POV

The next day

-

"Daddy?" Riley asked as I set her bowl of cereal in front of her.

"Yeah, princess?" I asked.

"Are you and mommy gonna get married?" She asked. I froze, why is she asking that kind of question?

"No... Why are you asking?" I asked.

"Because you love mommy and mommy loves you, mommies and daddies are supposed to be together" she insisted.

"Not all mommies and daddies are meant to be together, Riley" I told her.

"How come you and mommy aren't together?" She asked. How do I tell a four year old the reasons why her mother and I aren't together?

I sighed deeply.

"Well... Riley, your mommy and I were really mean to each other when we met, but we started to like each other, then she had to go bye bye for a while. When she came back, your uncles and I were really mean to her, except for your Uncle Vinny. When your mommy came back, she found out that I had a girlfriend, which hurt her feelings really bad, so she started dating Uncle Vinny. My girlfriend broke up with me, I was sad that your mommy was dating Uncle Vinny and not me. We didn't talk for a while, then we all went to a cook out at Aunt Allie and Uncle Ryan's. Your Uncle Vinny went off to drink some silly juice, I talked to your mommy and told her that I loved her, after that, we didn't talk for a while, the next time I talked to her, she told me that she was going to have you, I was scared and didn't talk to her until you were born. You were really sick when you were born, so you were at the doctor's for a while. Your mommy and I decided to try things out to see if we'd work out for your sake. When we brought you home, I asked her if she wanted to be my girlfriend and she didn't know what to say, so I got really mad at her, said some very mean things and left" I told her. I doubt she'll understand most of what I said, but she asked, and I dumbed it down as much I could.

"Say sorry to her! Get her flowers! The flowers in the cup thingy over there will work!" She said.

"Riley, she just broke up with Gared, let's give her some time" I said.

"No! Gared made her cry! Now do what I said!" She demanded. Damn... She's pushy for being a four year old little girl.

"You're pushy for being four" I said.

"Do it!" She said.

"Fine! But we're going to Aunt Allie's work to get flowers!" I said. She smiled and began eating her cereal. Little shit...

-

We're at the florist. We walked in. It's really awkward walking into public places with Riley because she's a blonde haired, blue/grey eyed, three and half foot tall little girl wearing a little pink sundress with a bow in her hair and I'm two feet taller than her and coated in all black. I mean, people are shocked when I say that she's my daughter, she has the same face as me, isn't that a dead giveaway?

"Daddy, can I pick the flowers?" Riley asked.

"Sure, kiddo" I replied. She ran off, I followed her until I heard a familiar voice.

"Riley? What are you doing here?" I heard Allie said.

"Getting flowers for mommy" Riley said.

"Where's your daddy?" Allie asked.

"I'm right here" I said.

"Why are y'all getting flowers?" She asked.

"Your niece has taken it upon herself to become my wingman" I said.

"Wing girl!" Riley corrected.

"Okay, she decided to be my wing-girl and told me that I need to apologize to Emmett and give her flowers" I said.

"Well, I have the perfect bouquet then" Allie said.

"I'll be the judge of that" Riley said. Allie chuckled as she went to go get a bouquet of flowers.

Allie came back with a bouquet of red roses with the occasional hydrangea here and there.

"It's not complicated but Emmett will love it, she likes simple but not too simple, this bouquet is a perfect mix for her. Riley, what do you think?" She asked.

"Daddy should give it to mommy! They're really pretty!" Riley said. Allie smiled.

"Just what I like to hear, let's get you rung up, since you're basically family, I'm only charging you five dollars for the bouquet" Allie said. I dug out my wallet and pulled a five dollar bill out and handed it to Allie.

She rung it up and put the five dollars in the cash register and handed me a receipt.

"Have a good day! See you later, Riley, love you, kiddo!" Allie said, giving Riley a hug and kiss on the forehead.

"Love you too, Auntie Allie!" Riley said as we walked out the door.

Time to give these flowers to Emmett.
