Over the past 3 years,

I've learned a lot

About myself,

My family,

And my family history.

Most of my history

Is unknown

To people in my family.

I've done my research,

Read my documents,

And I've learned a lot.

I'm from Irish

And German decent.

I've probably got something else

Mixed in there somewhere.

I found out he was born in Puerto Rico,

Though I don't really know

If that makes me Puerto Rican

Because his parents weren't born there.

But besides learning where I'm from,

I've also been learning

My family's stories.

How my Irish family

Had to survive

The Potato Famine.

There are other things I've learned

About how my family used

To live.

And now,

I'm making my own

Story,

My own history.

And so far,

It's been okay,

Not going to lie

And say it's been awesome.

But I'm making my way

Through this world,

And the people I know

(And don't know)

Are doing the same,

Just differently.

I'm going through this world

Carrying my history on my shoulders

And pathing my own way

Through life.

I am my own life.

A story walks in me.
