After three days arguing with Bella and her dad, Katnis was finally able to go back to school. 

"I really do wish you would have stayed home." Bella says as she pulled into the school lot.

Katnis groaned,"I've been stuck in that house for three days. I was going insane."

"Why didn't you have Edward over? I thought the two of you were getting closer."

"We're not friends." she says as she hopped down from out of the truck.

"What? What happened?"

Katnis shrugged, "Life." she says.

Bella went to reply to her statement but was interrupted by Mike's voice, "Hey! Look at you, huh? You're alive!" he rushed forward and pulled her into an embrace before she could take a step back.

"Yeah, I'm alive."

"How are you?" Angela, being the nice girl she is, asked.

Katnis smiled at her, "Better. I was able to get a lot of sleep."

Angela chuckled, "I bet." Lily says.

"So, Katnis. I was, uh, wondering if you'd...you know...want to go to the spring dance with me." Mike asked, rubbing the back if his neck.

Katnis glanced over at Bella, who was smirking, before meeting his gaze head on, "I can't, Mike."

His face fell,"Why not?"

"I'm going to Seattle that weekend."

"Can't you go another weekend?" he asked in a desperate tone.

Katnis shook her head, "No. I've had this planned for a while now. I don't want to reschedule it just to go to a dance I know I won't enjoy." she says, "I don't dance."

"Oh, okay."

"Maybe Bella will go with you. I don't believe she has a date." she says, causing Bella to glare at her.

"Really?" he glanced over at Bella.

"Sorry, Mike, but I'm going with her. Char- dad doesn't want her going alone."

Katnis raised a brow, "When we're you planning on telling me that Dad wanted you to babysit me?"

"He doesn't. He just wants to make sure your safe." she says, "It was me or a deputy following you around like you were the president's daughter."

Katnis rolled her eyes, "Whatever. Mike, Jessica doesn't have a date and I'm sure she would just love it if you asked her."

"You think so?"

She nods, "I know it."

He smiled, "Awesome! Bye!" he says before taking off towards the buildings entrance.

"What was that for?" Bella asked.

"Smirking at him asking me." Katnis says before walking off.

Bella rushed after her,"I was wondering what you were going to say to him. That's all." She states.

"Yeah, okay. Let's just get the day over with."

As they made their way into class, Bella glances over at Edward,"So, are you going to sit next to him or would you rather me sit beside him?" She asked her sister.

Katnis shakes her head,"No. We may not be friends but I'm not going to change my routine just to avoid jerk face."

Bella chuckles, "Okay." She says as they make their way over to their seats beside Edward who was staring at her with a relieved gaze. He hasn't seen her in three days and he was worried something was wrong. He was happy to see that she was safe and sound.

"Are you alright?" He asked in a soft tone,"You were gone for three days."

Katnis kept her gaze forward,"Why do you care?"

"I just do."

"Well don't." She says,"We're not friends, remember?"

"Kat -"

"Just leave me alone, Cullen."

He nods,"Alright. I'm sorry for bothering you." He says.

"Me too." he heard her mumble.

The day was going by in a rush and Katnis couldn't be more grateful. She wouldn't have to be around Edward and his constant changing of mood swings. One minute they're friends, the they're not then he's asking her how she is? He was driving her crazy.

"I'm getting something to eat." Bella says as the entered the lunch room,"So should you."

"Okay, dad, I will." Katnis says sarcastically.

Bella stuck her tongue out at her before walking ahead of her and towards the line.

"Bella! Katnis! Guess who just asked me to the spring dance?"

"Mike." Katnis says.

"I totally thought he was going to ask you."

Katnis wasn't going to tell her that he had. She didn't want her to feel like she was just his second or third choice.

"Oh."

"Um, it's not going to be weird is it?"

"God no! Negative Zero weirdness. You two look perfect together." Katnis says.

"I know, right? Thanks!"

"That was nice of you." Bella says.

"What was?"

"Not telling her about Mike asking you and I first."

Katnis shrugged,"No woman wants to feel like they're second choice let alone know they're second choice."

"It was still nice of you."

Katnis shakes her head as she moved towards the fruit stand. She reaches for an orange only to knock it over and be caught in a pair of pale hands,"Careful." Edward says.

Katnis met his gaze with an annoyed look on her face,"Thanks." She says as she moves to walk away.

"You never told me if you were fine during your three days of absence." He says.

"I thought you were suppose to be pretending I don't exist, not annoying me to death." She groaned.

"I apologize, it is not my intention to annoy you. I only want to know how you are doing."

"Only friends or potential friends want to know such things."

He nods, "I know."

Katnis stops walking and turns to look at him,"You know your constant mood swings are giving me a huge case of whiplash."

"I know but it's necessary."

"What does that even mean?" she asked.

"It means that if you're smart, you'll stay away from me."

"Let's say I'm NOT smart, would you tell the truth? Would you tell me how you stopped Mike's truck?"

"I had an adrenaline rush. It's very common."

Katnis groans and rolls her eyes as she turns and walks away,"What's in Seattle?"

She glances over her shoulder at him with a guarded look,"How'd you know about Seattle?"

"You didn't answer my question." he says.

Katnis sat down at an empty table,"You don't answer any of mine so..."

"Katnis -"

"I mean you just - you threw me and what little friendship that we were building away like yesterdays trash!" she hissed.

"It wasn't my inten-"

"Yeah, I get it. It wasn't your intention, it never really is." She groaned.

"I'm sorry if I'm being rude all the time. I just think it's the best way."

"The best way for what? You're going to have to make me understand all of this, Cullen because I am thoroughly confused right now." she says,"You say we shouldn't be friends yet here you are talking to me as if you didn't hurt my feelings saying what you said four days ago. You sit here and say you never intended to make me feel this way and yet I feel as if you did."

Edward reached for her hand she pulls away from him,"I am not some poor weak girl who can't take care of herself. I've been through a hell of a lot more than girls my age should have to." She snaps,"So, if you're trying to convince yourself that I'm better off, safer in some way, without you in my life...don't. If you're going to cut yourself out of my life don't use me as an excuse."

Edward sighs,"Katnis, I'm all wrong for you."

"How? You've saved my life twice. You're good for me."

"What if I'm the bad guy?" He meets her gaze.

"You're not."

"How can you say that and believe such lie?"

"If you were bad...I would be dead already. Mike's truck would have ended my life but it didn't. You stepped in. A bad guy would have just watched me die." She says.

"Katnis -"

"I can see who you are, Cullen. I can see that you trying to fit a mask that wasn't meant for you to wear." She states,"You want to keep people at such a distance that you're willing to convince them and yourself that you some villain."

"I am. Katnis, I've done things." He says in a whisper,"I've hurt people."

Katnis swallows the lump in her throat and places a hand in Edwards,"Everyone makes mistakes, Cullen. Even though you may not have regretted them at the time..the fact that you do now says you're a good guy." she says softly,"Stop trying to push everyone away."

Edward held her gaze for several more seconds before he hears Alice approaching them,"Alice?"

"I just wanted to introduce myself to my new friend." She says as if its the most obvious thing in the world,"Hi, I'm Edwards sister, Alice." She holds out her hand towards Katnis.

"It's nice to meet you, Alice. I'm Katnis, Cullen's...potential or non potential friend." She says taking Alice's hand.

She ignored the fact that Alice's hand was as cold as dry ice and glanced over at the rest of their siblings who were staring at her,"Would they like to sit with us?" Katnis asked.

Alice smiles down at her,"You don't mind?"

"Why would I mind?"

"Well, everyone her e kind of ignores us, well, besides you and Bella."

Katnis shrugged, "Bella and I aren't everyone else."

Alice's smile widened,"You're right! Let me go and get them." She squealed.

Edward chuckles before glancing at Katnis,"Thank you. You have no idea how much this really means to her."

"I just invited them to sit with us."

"I know but to Alice, and the rest of my siblings, it means a lot more. We've been here for three years now and no one has really tried to get to know my family and I. They just assume were spoiled rich kids with our noses in the air."

"You're not?" Katnis joked.

Edward chuckles,"I'm serious. It wasn't until you and Bella moved here that people actually began trying to figure out what we like and who were are as people."

Katnis raises a brow,"That's a bit...ignorant of them but I guess I can understand them a little. I mean, Cullen, you and tour siblings are far more intimidating that you know."

He nods,"I understand that we are but -"

"Let it go, Cullen, okay? If someone doesn't want to be your friend...don't beg them. They're not worth your company."

He smiles at her,"Thank you."

"Hey, Kat!" Emmett's voice carried around the cafeteria.

Katnis meets his gaze,"Hello, Emmett."

"So, have you scolded my brother for being an ass to your four days ago?"

"Emmett!" Rosalie hissed.

"What?"

Katnis looked at Rosalie,"No, Rosalie, its fine." She meets Emmett's gaze once again,"To answer your question, Emmett, I did. I'm hoping he takes what I said seriously."

"If he doesn't...I'll kick his ass for you, Kat." Emmett says.

Katnis smiled at him,"Well, if he doesn't want that to happen...he better take it seriously."

"Oh, he will." Alice says with a smirk.

Edward read her mind and saw the vision of him and Katnis.

Katnis was running away from him laughing,"I'm sorry! It was an accident!"

Edward ran after her, human pace, with a playful glare in his face,"How do you accidentally put lipstick in me?" He calls after her.

She threw her hands in the air,"I slipped!"

Edward shakes his head and pushes his feet faster, using his vampire speed, to catch her,"Gotcha!" He tackles her to the ground, him being careful not to hurt her of course and they fall with her beneath him.

"You cheated! You used your vampire speed against me!" she laughs.

Edward gazes down at her for several seconds, just watching her laugh and smile, before kissing her throat. He feels her stiffen beneath him and he stops and lifts his head to look at her. What he found in her eyes was not fear but something else he wasn't expecting.

Want.

She had a look of desire and want in her eyes that he's never seen before,"Edward?" even her voice was laced with desire and want. He could smell her arousal and it was taking everything in him not to take her right where they were.

"I love you and I know your old fashioned so, if you don't want to end up taking me to bed right now...I highly suggest you get off me right now."

Edward continues to stare at her,"Cullen!" She barked out.

Instead of getting off of her Edward kisses her, deeply. Both his hands are on either sides of her head and he'd lowered his body down onto hers but careful not to put all his weight on her. Katnis, once she was over the shock of his actions, lifted her hands to his head and ran her fingers through his hair. She tugged on it before pulling him closer.

Edward, high off her scent, used one of his hands to rip open her blouse, discarding the remains if it in the grass,"You won't be needing this!" He hissed in her ear.Katnis then used her tiny hands get his shirt off of him. She undid every button before pushing the sleeves down his arms. Once he was out if his shirt Edward quickly ripped her shorts from her body, resulting in her letting out a soft gasp from his rather animalistic behavior.

Edward then wrapped his arms around her middle and sat up in the grass pulling her into his lap so that she was straddling him. Katnis wrapped her bare legs around his waist, pushing herself closer to him,"I love you." He says, his lips against her throat.

"I love you, too." She says.

Edward moves his hands slowly up her back. He goes to undo the clasp to her bra but before he could Katnis is ripped from his arms,"Whoa! Whoa! Whoa! Down tiger! Not until you're married!" Emmett says as he steps back with Katnis half naked in his arms.

Edward goes to take her but it stopped by Carlisle and Jasper,"Edward, son, you have to calm down." Carlisle says.

"I know she's hard to resist but you have to. If you do this you will forever regret not waiting until your wedding night." Jasper says.

"Yeah. As much as we would have enjoyed the live porn movie...I don't think Katnis would want us seeing her naked." Emmett says with a chuckle.

Edward met her gaze and he could see how embarrassed she was. She was in nothing but her underwear,"Katnis, I'm so - I'm so sorry."

Her face flushed red,"Don't be. This is just as much my fault as it is yours."

"I should have -"

"We both should have but we didn't." She says,"Can I please go and put on some clothes? I'm feeling rather...exposed."

Emmett laughed out loud,"You are!"

"Shut up, Emmett."

Edwards eyes widen after the vision ends. He couldn't believe what he'd just witnessed. He'd lost control and almost took Katnis in their backyard. Was he really so weak that he couldn't control his hormonal needs?

He also couldn't believe that she would really find out about him and his family.  He didn't want that but from the looks of things...she was going to find out and there was nothing that he or anyone else could do about it. 

"Cullen?" Katnis placed a hand on his arm,"Are you alright?"

He glanced down at her hand. Flashes of Alice's vision flooded his thoughts,"I'm, uh, I'm fine."

"Are you sure? You look like you just witnessed something you couldn't believe."

"Something like that." He mumbled before meeting her gaze,"Don't worry about me. I'm fine."

"Okay, if you say so."

"He's fine, Kat. He's just trying to process some news he just received."

"Good or bad?" Katnis asked.

"Well, Katnis, " Alice says with a smile,"It's a little bit of both."
