This Isn't The End

Steve lay in a hospital bed with Sam by his side, listening to R&B music.

Sam was reading by Steve, as he has been for a while. Wondering if Steve was going to wake up.

Steve moved his mouth and turned his head slightly, recognizing the music.

Steve looked down at himself before looking over to his right and saw Sam, worry evident in his eyes.

"On your left."

Sam turned his head towards Steve and smiled, happy that his favorite captain wasn't dead, not yet.

"Do you solemnly swear to tell the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth?"

"I do." Natasha answered.

"Why haven't we yet heard from Captain Rogers?" Asked a committee member.

"I don't know what's left for him to say, I think the wreck in the middle of the Potomac, made his point fairly eloquently." Natasha said as she sat with her arms crossed.

"Well, he could explain how this county is expected to maintain its national security, now that he and you have laid waste to our intelligence apparatus." Said the committee member.

"H.Y.D.R.A. was selling you lies, not intelligence." Natasha argued.

"Many of which you seemed to have had a personal hand in telling." The committee member shot back.

"Agent, you should know," Said another committee member, "that there are some on this committee who feel, given your service record, both for the country and against it, that you belong in a penitentiary. Not mouthing off in Capital Hill."

Natasha thought for a moment before speaking, choosing her words carefully.

"You're not gonna put me in prison, you're not gonna put any of us in a prison. You know why?' She asked the committee members.

"Do enlightened us."

"Because you need us. Yes the world is a vulnerable place, and yes we help make it that way. But, we're also the best one qualified to defend it."

"So, if you want to arrest me, arrest me. You'll know where to find me."

The committee members all looked at each other, shocked by what Natasha had just said.

Natasha stood up and walked out of the room, with reporters following her out, asking her questions that she ignored.

"So, you've experienced this sort of thing before." Fury said walking up to Steve and Sam, who were standing at a decorated graves stone, that read, Col. Nicholas J. Fury

"You get used to it." Steve said.

"We've been data mining H.Y.D.R.A.'s files. Looks like a lot of rats, didn't go down with the ship." Fury said as Steve looked down.

"I'm headed to Europe tonight. Wanted to ask if you'd come."

"There's something I gotta do first." Steve said looking back up.

Fury looked at Sam, "How about you Wilson, could use a man with your abilities."

"I'm more of a soldier than a spy." Sam said making eye contact with Fury.

"All right then." Fury said looking at the grave stone.
Fury shook Sam and Steve's hands

"If anyone asks for me, tell them they can find me right here." Fury said pointing at the grave.

"You should be honored, that's about the closest he gets to a thank you." Natasha said walking up to Steve with two files in her hand.

"Not going with him?" Steve asked as Fury walked away.

"No," Natasha groaned.

"Not staying here?"

"Nah. I blew all of my covers, I gotta go figure out a new one."

"That might take a while."

"I'm counting on it." Natasha said with a smirk.

"That thing you asked for," Natasha began.

"I called in al few favors from Kiev." She said as she handed him the two files.

"Will you do me a favor? Call that nurse."

"She's not a nurse." Steve stated with a smile on his face.

"And you're not a S.H.I.E.L.D agent." Natasha said slyly.

"What was her name again?" Steve asked.

"Sharon. She's nice."

Natasha walked closer to Steve and kissed his cheek before walking away, then stopping to turn around.

"Be careful Steve, you might not want to pull on that thread."

She walked off as Steve looked down at the files and opened them. Pictures of Bucky and Rhaenyra in the cyrostasis chamber in each file. In the bottom corner of Bucky's file, was a picture of him from the 40's, while in the bottom corner of Rhaenyra's was a picture of her smiling while she was in Russia.

"You're going after them." Sam said walking up behind Steve and looking at the files over his shoulder.

"You don't have to come with me."

"I know." Sam said.

"When do we start?"

Okay, so we're almost done with this book, I know that the last chapter was super long and this one was a lot longer than what it usually is, but I had to finish the dialogue, and I was not about to make that last chapter 5,000 words so.
