I grew up in the Midwest, which I think is generalized as being an incredibly boring and simple place where nothing much happens - unless you're in Chicago. I grew up agreeing with this stereotype, so I daydreamed of far off places with open minded, unique people. I grew up, and moved out of the Midwest. I traveled. I got away. But, as they say, you always find your way back home... Because, when I travelled, I found that people were just people no matter where I was, and that my daydreams didn't play as clearly in my mind in the new places as they did back home. It was as if my mind needed the backdrop of the corn fields in the summer and the frozen forests in the winter in order for my creativity to find its mark. My inspirational spikes rarely struck unless I was home on holiday or at least making my way there. The Crossroads of America proved to be a catalyst for my imagination with its small but glittering cities and its sprawling fields with decrepit, leaning farm houses. Thus, here is a collection of the random inspirations that hit me during the endless days of June and the impregnable darkness of January in the middle of Nowhere-Important, America: my imagination's home sweet home.
