In which a quirky bisexual takes a reluctant introvert under her wing and teaches him the correct way into a girl's heart. Through dates and lessons in feminism, of course.
Celebrities are shallow. They drive around with their faces on the outside of a bus. Celebrities are dumb. They leave their buses unattended while they go and perform. Zina thinks she knows exactly what she's doing when she decides to redesign a tour bus one night. But everyone knows, things don't exactly turn out the way you expect. Her life spins out of control when she meets the people who her art has literally touched. But the fact that she can't tell them its hers, no matter how much they actually like the work, makes it ten times more difficult for her to keep hanging around them. They praise her work as someone else's. The reason she can't tell them its hers? Well thats simple. Their management has lawsuit papers out for her arrest. How much the boys love the work is how much management hates it. That's why she should stay away. It's too much of a risk, she might slip up. But theres one boy, that piques her interest. He's actually falling in love with her. But not the her he knows. Confusing? Big time. He's falling in love with the girl who paints the art. And the girl who paints the art is falling in love with him. She cant tell him though because not only is the lawsuit an issue, but he doesn't know that she's the one he loves. Still confused? Try being involved in a love triangle with… yourself. When this one project turns Zina's life upside down, she has to make a choice. Does she tell the boys it was her painting and find true love after the lawsuit has been filed, or does she let them leave with her artwork and wonder what might have been?

This book talks about the lack of people of colour in our textbooks, learning resources, and educational facilities. This is an educational book will highlight the misconceptions of what a good education is and will hopefully create a wave of change in our educational resources particularly textbooks. As a child in a classroom, my first feeling was of alienation. My first identity was of an outsider. My first taste was the sourness of marginalisation. My first glance at the world was of an excluding intellectual circle. My first sound was of an explosion of questions about my roots and culture. My first thoughts were of being dominated by someone stronger than me. That someone turns out to be a system. Our educational system in Europe, Australasia and the Americas. At this point, I've seen so many old white guys' work in my classes that it's a safe assumption that whoever did this work I'm studying was an old white guy. I hate that I make that assumption. I hate that I don't hear about the rich, fullness of other cultures and the wonderful, WONDERFUL work they have done. Given that whites make up a minority of the world, they are the majority of people I have learned about in school. This is not limited to the topic of English, science and mathematics, but does include white people's history, geographical countries. Whites are not the only civilized thinkers of the world, and definitely not the only ones to work in our intellectual circles. Even when you bring up the work of a person of colour (POC) or woman, a bio is never mentioned.
I'm so excited to be sharing this sneak peek of my upcoming book, I DON'T BELONG TO YOU: Quiet the Noise and Find Your Voice! I want my fans to be the first to read it, so every Friday for the next four weeks, I'm going to give you a brand new excerpt before anyone can buy my book in stores. Let me know how you like it!This excerpt is about the pressure to be a "good girl." I think it's the same pressure many of us felt. I hope you'll read the sneak peek and let me know what you think. Let's talk about that "Good Girl versus Bad Girl" Myth.
