En 2017, alors que le jeu Azur Lane venait de voir le jour, une étrange série d'événements commençait à se dérouler dans le monde entier. Les joueurs étaient plongés dans un mystère qui semblait directement lié au jeu lui-même. Au fil des mois, un virus informatique particulièrement sophistiqué a commencé à se propager insidieusement. Ce virus ne ciblait pas les ordinateurs personnels ou les réseaux sociaux, mais il s'attaque aux systèmes de contrôle des armes militaires dans différents pays. Les états unis ont décidé d'envois un vieux porte avion le USS Midway dans le jeu avec un objectif trouver l'origine du virus et sauvé l'humanité.
